II. Vision Outline for Our Local Church

Vision Statement "We exist to glorify God through loving the Lord Jesus Christ passionately, obeying all that He commanded joyfully, and making disciples efficaciously for the kingdom of God This is realized only when: We strive together for God s glory (See next page). We love the Lord with all heart, soul and mind (Deut. 6:5; Matt.22:37; Mark 12:30; Luke 10:27). We exercise the faith that leads to obedience to God s commandments (Rom.1:5; 16:26). We display the transforming power of the gospel through living it out daily (Eph.3:10; John 13:34-35). We strive to be humble, contrite in spirit and tremble at God s word (Isa.66:2). Avoid wrong motives for a local church: We do not strive to be a large and wealthy church with huge budgets. We do not work for a success in wordily standard. We do not exist to make name and money. We do not exercise pastoral autonomy. We do not practice family succession to pastorate. We do not teach and preach the beliefs of health, wealth and prosperity

Glory of God We desire to see that God is glorified, because this is God s chief desire to glorify Himself. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone [1 Chronicles 29:11,13] Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name be the glory (Psalm 115:1) I will not give My glory to another [Isaiah 42:8] Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made [Isaiah 43:7] He predestined us to the praise of His glory we were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory with a view to the redemption to the praise of His glory [Ephesians 1:5,6,12,14] Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You [John 17:1] Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power [Revelation 4:11]

Pillars of Our Vision High View of God Preaching and Teaching Pastoral Care Local Outreach and Missions Serving the Saints Build Edifying Relationships

Pillars of Our Vision I. A High View of God: Man s purpose in life is to know God and make Him known. One s view of God will dictate how he/ she answers the questions of life and responds to its challenges. Without a high view of God worship is shallow, commitments are temporal, and life is unstable. It communicates the preciousness of the gospel by showing the infinite gap between sinful men and a holy God. But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that while we were sinners, Christ died for us. A high view of God provides the stability and source of hope for downcast, afflicted, and hurting souls. When God is presented in His greatness, people have someone they can lean on and trust through the difficult moments of life. A high view of God provides a standard to strive for and the motivation to reach for what seems impossible.

Pillars of Our Vision II. Biblical Preaching and Teaching: This is God s ordained way to communicate His mind to His people and the world (Acts 2:42; 2 Tim 4:2; Matt 28:19,20). Since ministry must be based on a high view of God, God s revelation must be used authoritatively to communicate God s greatness to the people of God. To address and answer the ills of society with a biblical worldview. The world is in need of a spiritual compass. The compass is provided by the consistent teaching of the Word and reaching those who are in need with a heart of compassion. The world asks, what is truth, the church says, know the truth and you will be free (John 8:31-47). To edify the saints for the work of ministry (Eph. 4:11). This provides guidance, hope, and confidence to face the challenges of life and grow in the grace of God (2 Tim 3:16-17; 1 Pet 2:1).

What biblical teaching provides? Parenting: A practical wisdom Godly financial management Equipping the saints with the Gospel and its presentation to the lost Sanctification: Growing in the knowledge and grace of the Lord Healing from a troubled past and broken relationships Knowledge to fight temptations and sins Understanding of God s attributes Instruction for succeeding in marriage Understanding one s position in Christ The keys to contentment guidelines Overall, how to know, love, and serve God. Providing Bible classes for the community Conferences and Seminars that will train men and women in the faith Training children in the knowledge of God Learning theology for life Providing answers to difficult questions and passages in the Bible Defending our faith Refuting the cults such as Jehovah Witnesses and Mormons Theology nurturing the Berean spirit Counseling preparing them to guide those in need Bible study methods encouraging them to handle the word of truth A biblical philosophy of ministry developing the how and why of ministry

Pastoral Care III. Pastoral Care: Training key leaders and potential leaders Setting aside informal time for personal interaction spending time getting to know each other. Seeking those who have left the church to return Systematic approach to visitation that incorporates discipleship and accountability Visitation of the sick and shut-in Providing godly examples for others to follow Commitment to pray for the spiritual well-being of the flock (Acts 2:42; Eph. 1:18-22; 6:18-20; 1 Thess 1:2) Counseling the needs of the flock Follow the servant-leadership model of Christ, who walked, ate, and cried with the people (Matt 9:9-13; John 9:1-12; 11:35; 1 Peter 5:1-3). 1. Praying 1 Thess. 1:2 3; 3:9 13 2. Evangelizing 1 Thess. 1:4 5, 9 10 3. Equipping 1 Thess. 1:6 8 4. Defending 1 Thess. 2:1 6 5. Loving 1 Thess. 2:7 8 6. Laboring 1 Thess. 2:9 7. Core Beliefs 1. The Sufficiency of Christ. Based on His virgin birth, sinless life, present rule and future reign, sufficient death, and exclusive offer of salvation (Isa 7:14; John 8:46; Heb. 5:18; Ps 110; Rev 20; John 14:6). 2. The Sufficiency of the Scripture. Based on its divine origin (2 Tim 3:16-17; Heb. 4:12) 3. The Witness of the Local Church. Based on its commission, call to equip the saints, and govern itself autonomously (Matt 28:19,20; Eph. 4:11) 4. The Priesthood of Believers. Based on the privilege to be Christ s representatives on earth, who have no need of a human mediator (1 Tim 2:5) 5. The Total Depravity of Man ( Rom 3:9-20) 6. The Eternal Security of Salvation (1 Peter 1:3-5) 7. The Absolute Sovereignty of God (Ps 103:19; Rom 9-11; Eph. 1:4-14) 8. The Horror of Eternal Punishment (Matt 25:46; Rev 21) 9. The Free offer of the Gospel (Eph. 2:8-10) 10. The Glory of Heaven (John 14; Rev 21-22)

Our Mission Exalt God: To love and worship the Lord with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength, both individually and corporately. Edify the Saints: To build up God s people to be more like Jesus Christ through loving encouragement and equipping in godly character, biblical understanding, and ministry skills. Evangelize the Lost: To passionately share the gospel of Jesus Christ in order to establish worshipers in His church locally and globally. Exalt God Edify the Saints Evangelize the Lost The Spirit of God and Word of God

1. We value God s Word, the Bible, as solely authoritative and sufficient in all matters of belief and behavior for every believer s enjoyment of God and for the ministry of the church (Psa. 1:1-3; 2 Tim 3:16-17; 1 Pet 2:2; 2 Pet 1:2-4). 2. We value prayer as the visible engine of all our efforts in ministry and worship (Acts 2:42; Eph. 6:18-20; Phil 4:6; Col 4:2; 1 Thess. 5:16-18). Fully relying on the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 2:14-16; Zech 4:6; Eph 3:16; 1 Pet 4:10-11). 3. We value husbands, wives, and children fulfilling their biblical roles in the family and in the church (Deut. 6:4-9; Psa. 78:1-9; Eph. 6:4; 2 Tim 3:14-15). 4. We value personal and corporate worship of God, which engages both the mind and the heart (John 4:23-24; Jam 4:8; Psa. 16:11; 2 Tim 4:1-4). 5. We value Christ-centered relationships, especially through the regular gathering of small groups focused on God s Word, prayer, and mutual love (John 13:34; Eph. 5:1-2; 1 Thess. 5:11; Heb 10:23-25; Jam 5:16). 6. We value corporately developing biblical knowledge, character, and actions that imitate Christ (Eph. 4:12; Col 1:28). 7. We value every believer faithfully serving in the body of Christ (Rom 12:9-13; 1 Pet 4:11-12; 1 Cor. 12:7; Eph. 4:11-13). 8. We value reaching those who do not know Christ in our communities and throughout the world (Matt 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; Rom 10:1; Col 4:2-4). 9. We value the submission to Christ s leadership, which is carried out by a biblically qualified team of elders (Acts 20:28; 1 Tim 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Pet 5:1-3; Heb. 13:17). 10. We value equipping leaders in the context of the local church (Eph. 4:11-12; 1 Tim 5:17). Our Values
