The Earthquake On 11 March 2011, in the early afternoon (14:46:23 local time), Japan was rocked by 9.0- magnitude earthquake that caused widespread damage to the country s eastern coastal region The tsunami that followed the earthquake devastated the coastal areas of Tohoku and southern Hokkaido. (w.h.o.com)

The After-Shocks Early on Nov. 22, the residents of Fukushima, Japan were woken by loud sirens. At 6am local time, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake had struck off the coast The Nov. 22, 2016 quake has a direct connection to the 2011 disaster: scientists believe that it was actually an aftershock of that earthquake. 1. David s Earthquake

The Event Behind Psalm 3 2 Samuel 15:13-14 Then a messenger came to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are with Absalom. David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, Arise and let us flee, for otherwise none of us will escape from Absalom. Go in haste, or he will overtake us quickly and bring down calamity on us and strike the city with the edge of the sword.

The Sin and the Sin to Cover-Up 2 Samuel 11:3, So David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said, Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? 2 Samuel 11:15, He had written in the letter, saying, Place Uriah in the front line of the fiercest battle and withdraw from him, so that he may be struck down and die.

2. Aftershocks from David s Earthquake

The Consequences of David s Sins 2 Samuel 11:27 When the time of mourning was over, David sent and brought her to his house and she became his wife; then she bore him a son. But the thing that David had done was evil in the sight of the Lord.

The Consequences of David s Sins 2 Samuel 12:13-14 Then David said to Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said to David, The Lord also has taken away your sin; you shall not die. However, because by this deed you have given occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born to you shall surely die.

David Declared the Punishment 2 Samuel 12:6-7a, He must make restitution for the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing and had no compassion. Nathan then said to David, You are the man! 2 Samuel 12:11, Thus says the Lord, Behold, I will raise up evil against you from your own household; I will even take your wives before your eyes and give them to your companion, and he will lie with your wives in broad daylight.

David Declared the Punishment 2 Samuel 12:15, The Lord struck the child dead. 2 Samuel 13, David s son Amnon rapes his sister Tamar; Tamar is left in shame; 2 Samuel 13:28, Absalom has his brother Amnon murdered. 2 Samuel 14, Absalom returns to Jerusalem but does not see the king.

David Declared the Punishment 2 Samuel 15, Absalom stole the hearts of the people (v6); declares himself King in Hebron (v10); then they flee! 2 Samuel 16:22, Absalom has his way with David s 10 Concubines. 2 Samuel 18:12-15, Absalom is killed. 2 Samuel 19, Joab accuses David of allowing his personal tragedies get in the way of his kingship.

David Declared the Punishment Jeremiah 4:18 Your ways and your deeds Have brought these things to you. This is your evil. How bitter! How it has touched your heart!

David Declared the Punishment 2 Samuel 12:6-7a He must make restitution for the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing and had no compassion. Nathan then said to David, You are the man!...

What Sin Does Brings death into the world Romans 6:23 Separates us from God Isaiah 59:2, Psalm 38:18 Crushes people Psalm 32:3 Has ramification, or aftershocks

KEY: GEOCACHING OVER SIN 1. Recognize that sin is inevitable. Justification happens immediately while the process of sanctification happens over time.

KEY: GEOCACHING OVER SIN 2. Confess rather than cover. 1 John 1:8-10, If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world.

KEY: GEOCACHING OVER SIN 3. Spiritual Implications of Confess vs. Cover Proverbs 28:13-14, He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion. How blessed is the man who fears always, But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

KEY: GEOCACHING OVER SIN 3. Spiritual Implications of Confess vs. Cover 1 John 1:7, But if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

JAMES 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
