Music News Music & Arts Camp 2018 - fast approaching! Now is the time to get your child(ren) registered for this year's camp, "We Are God's Children". Camp runs July 16-20, and is for all children in our community grades 1-6. Children experience creativity and imagination through art, movement, drumming, Orff instruments, ukelele, and more! Registration and information are online at <hilltopumchurch.org> or contact Michele Starcher <childrensmusic@hilltopumchurch.org>. Reserve your spot at Music & Arts Camp today! Crossroad Golden Celery Competition Hilltop is again participating in the Golden Celery Competition which pits faith communities from throughout Utah against one another in a friendly rivalry to see who can donate the most pounds of food per attendee in the month of July! This year, as every year, we will accept any nonperishable items. Due to inventory levels, we have some special request items: canned chili, peanut butter, canned pasta, canned fruit, snacks (granola bars, small chip bags, etc.), small drinks (individual bottles, juice boxes, etc.), crackers, saltines. Bring your heavy donations every Sunday in July and leave them by the bins in the hall near the kitchen. Family Camp Join us for the 20th annual family camp August 3-5 at Pinecliff Camp. Bring your RV or tent, or reserve a bunkhouse. Cost is $40 per adult, $30 for children 12 and under. Meals included. Enjoy games and activities for the kids and those young at heart. (Can you win a Jello-eating contest?) Also bonfire, s'mores, baseball, volleyball, Ga-Ga ball, horseshoes, hike to the cross, read a book, and of course, there is gutterball. Pick up a registration form in Fellowship Hall. This is a great way for families to relax and have fun together. 4th of July Holiday Remember that this Wednesday is the 4th of July and the office will be closed. Leigh Anne will be taking a couple of days off on Tuesday and Thursday as well so catch her Monday or Friday. 5

Pastor s E-Note If you would like to receive Pastor Dennis s weekly e-notes, please send your request with your e-mail address to office@hilltopumchurch.org Sunday Coffee Fellowship Date Host Group Families Today Team Hendrickson (I-L) July 8 Team Montoya (M-P) Families with indicated last names are asked to bring treats. Donations to coffee fellowship will ensure that the coffee and treats keep flowing throughout the year! Thanks. Inspiring Donations Every time you shop at Smith s, the grocery will put aside funds for Hilltop missions. But not if you haven t gone online to register that you want Hilltop to be your charity. HUMC s organization number is 75252. Please register HUMC to receive this little bonus; it s very easy. Hilltop Landscape Hilltop gardeners will meet regularly at 8:00 am every Thursday unless it s raining or snowing. Any and all are welcome to join us. For a couple of hours each Thursday, we trim and weed to keep the Hilltop grounds nice and presentable. Bring your own utensils or use the church s. Just show up. Crossroads Urban Center Food of the month for June small juices. Thrift store items of the month are summer clothes and towels. They no longer need egg cartons or newspaper bags. Please leave your donations in the black bins in the hallway near the kitchen. Nametags Wearing our nametags helps all of us get to know each other better. If you have a nametag, please wear it during worship and fellowship. If you don t have one, we will be happy to provide one for you. Please get a note to the office to order you one. 6

Mission Trip to Puerto Rico Our Methodist sub-district has a date for a reconstruction mission trip to Puerto Rico: November 3-10. Cost per person is approximately $1,300. The Hilltop Mission Committee has scholarship money available to help anyone who wants to go. Workers need to be 18 or older, in reasonably good health, and prepared to work in hot, humid conditions. If you re interested, email Marilyn at whitemar@frii.com even if you aren t ready to commit. Prayer Requests You may request prayers for yourself or a loved one to be lifted up during worship. Look for prayer request cards in the pew racks. Fill one out and hand it to Pastor Dennis or the liturgist during the Passing of the Peace. He will share appropriate prayer requests during the blessings and concerns portion of worship. The prayer requests will be added to the prayer chain on Monday and included in the next Sunday bulletin (unless you mark that you d like it kept private). You may also e-mail the office during the week. Order Chancel Flowers Honor a loved one, celebrate a special occasion, or show appreciation with a flower arrangement for the chancel. Arrangements are $15 and can be ordered by signing the book on the north table in Fellowship Hall. Make checks payable to Hilltop UMC and write flowers in the memo line. You may take your flowers following the 10:30 worship service. Paper Recycling Bin Wrapping paper, ribbons, bows, wax paper, foiled paper and cards, milk cartons CANNOT be recycled. Inclusion of that in the bin will mean all the items in the bin will be thrown away. But, please recycle all your boxes, junk mail, magazines, newspapers, tissue paper. Break down your boxes to leave more room in the bins. Every month the bin reaches a ton of good recyclables earns $15 to Missions. 7
