All Catholic school and parish choirs are encouraged to participate in a choral Festival and Mass in their region. November festivals: San Francisco - Saturday, November 7 th, 2009, at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption with guest conductor Michael Wustrow. Pittsburgh Saturday November 14 th, 2009, at the Cathedral of St. Paul with guest conductor Paul French. Minnesota Sunday, November 22 nd, 2009, at the Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas, University of St. Thomas, with guest conductor Dr. Angela Broeker. Festival schedules, repertoires and registration forms for the November festivals can be located on the website under the Festivals 2009-2010 link. Details for all 2009-2010 festivals will be posted shortly. 2009-2010 Rehearsal CDs Now Available! The newly produced Pueri Cantores Rehearsal CD, including the complete 2009-2010 National Repertoire, can be ordered from the AFPC office. This is your chance to hear the new repertoire sung by young singers and conducted by this year s conductor/clinician, Lee Gwozdz. To order, please send a check for $20 and indicate Rehearsal CD in the memo. Please note: approximately 60% of the AFPC repertoire is retained in the succeeding year. Choir Organizational Tip Publish a schedule of performance commitments for your singers and their families at the beginning of the new school year. If you provide a schedule now, scheduling conflicts can be accommodated or avoided, commitment can be reinforced and participation levels should improve. This funding is an invaluable assistance in meeting the operational expenses of the organization and has encouraged the founding of new festivals in the United States. Pueri Cantores Choral Series The development and publication of the Pueri Cantores Choral Series is underway. AFPC is partnering with World Library Publications and Music Editor Paul French to publish editions of great liturgical works for youth choirs. Octavos now available include: Ave Verum Corpus, Gabriel Fauré (edited Douglas Walczak); Ave Maria, Camille Saint-Saëns (edited Douglas Walczak); Jesus Here Present, (arranged Gwozdz/Ostrowski); Regina Coeli, Charles Gounod and Hail Mary, William Ferris. Later this year, two more octavos will be completed: Veni, Creator Spiritus, Gregorian Chant (arranged Keith Kalemba) and Praise God in the Place of His Glory (Psalm 150), Richard Proulx. Pueri Cantores NPM Evening Prayer on YouTube! This summer s NPM-Pueri Cantores Evening Prayer in Chicago was a great success! Eleven choirs participated from seven states - many touring for the first time - to sing the liturgy for 3,000 NPM convention attendees.
