Ted Brown, M.S. - Shrine Director Father Bernie Baris, M.S. - Retreat Center Director HALLELUJAH! HE IS RISEN! Are there any who are devout lovers of God? Let them enjoy this beautiful bright festival! Are there any who are grateful servants? Let them rejoice and enter into the joy of their Lord! Are there any weary with fasting? Let them now receive their wages! If any have toiled from the first hour, let them receive their due reward; If any have come after the third hour, let him with gratitude join in the Feast! And he that arrived after the sixth hour, let him not doubt; for he too shall sustain no loss. And if any delayed until the ninth hour, let him not hesitate; but let him come too. And he who arrived only at the eleventh hour, let him not be afraid by reason of his delay. For the Lord is gracious and receives the last even as the first.he gives rest to him that comes at the eleventh hour, as well as to him that toiled from the first. First and last alike receive your reward; rich and poor, rejoice together! Sober and slothful, celebrate the day! You that have kept the fast, and you that have not, rejoice today for the Table is richly laden! Let no one mourn that he has fallen again and again; for forgiveness has risen from the grave. Let no one fear death, for the Death of our Savior has set us free. He has destroyed it by enduring it. He destroyed Hell when He descended into it. He put it into an uproar even as it tasted of His flesh. Christ is Risen, and you, o death, are annihilated! Christ is Risen, and the evil ones are cast down! Christ is Risen, and the angels rejoice! Christ is Risen, and life is liberated! Christ is Risen, and the tomb is emptied of its dead; for Christ having risen from the dead, is become the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep. To Him be Glory and Power forever and ever. Amen! Excerpts from Saint John Chrysostom s Easter Homily (400 AD) Pg 1

BOOK OF THE MONTH STAY WITH US: ENCOUNTERS WITH THE RISEN LORD By Fr. Tom Rosica, CSB Fr. Tom Rosica presents the Resurrection of Jesus through a reading of the four Gospels proclaimed anew in our day. Revisiting the way the early Church understood the Resurrection, Rosica focuses less on what actually happened in the tomb on that first Easter day, and more on why suddenly it became possible to know Jesus in the everyday of history (Mark); to live the Christian life within the community called Church (Matthew); to imitate Jesus in a meaningful life in our world (Luke); and to encounter Jesus in a deep, personal, loving, evolving relationship (John). Now available at the Shrine Bookstore! FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS First Saturday of each month, Reconciliation Chapel from 11:00-12:00 PM Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, and other Prayers As a mother, Our Lady wants none of her children to be lost, but all to be saved. So, let us faithfully and generously carry out her wishes in this great devotion of the First Five Saturdays. Sister Lucia has assured us that prayer and penance are absolutely necessary for the peace of the world through the conversion of sinners. The First Five Saturdays devotion with its unique combination of confession, Communion, and the Rosary, holds a special place in our Lady s plan. * AND, as our Mother, Our Lady of LaSalette invites us, Come near, my children. What difference does the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus the Christ make in your life today? When we allow this reality to inform our fundamental attitude toward life we live in awe, in love and something happens. God is within us. We share in the process of creation and re-creation of the world. The world where we are is changed. The hurt, miserable, sick and confused are embraced and in that process healing, and reconciliation are experienced for ourselves as well. Are you a person of faith? Can you accept others as they are, listening and learning from them? Do you have a reverence for the elderly? One of every three people living in nursing homes has no visitors. If you can respond to this need, please join us for an informational meeting about LaSalette Nursing Home Ministry. For more information, please call 508-222-4510 or e-mail Spiritualcare2elderly@gmail.com. We at the Shrine are grateful for the generosity of so many who make our work possible. We depend upon your goodness. Please make donations to the Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, Inc. at the address below.
