Reflections: Welcome The Catholic Church across whole world, in many languages, will hear this common funeral Gospel reading this weekend. The choir is singing Come to Me at the 10 AM Mass. Come to me, Come to me Come if you are weary Come to me, Come to me And I will give you rest All who labor and are burdened All who labor and are burdened Let them come to me, come to me And I will give them rest Take my yoke upon your shoulders Take my yoke upon your shoulders And learn from me, learn from me For I am gentle in heart For the heart I hold is humble Yes the heart I hold is humble And my yoke is easy, my burden light And you will find rest for your soul Everyone has times in life where we are tired, exhausted, weary and sometimes burnt out. Whether it is a long week at work or trying to be a good parent, exhaustion is common. There was a single, divorced father who worked hard and had an energetic son. When the father came home late one night due to a "bad day with his boss", he knew his son would expect mandatory play time. Dad, knowing his son was eager to play, quickly cut up the front page of the newspaper into many pieces. The image was a challenging picture of North America with both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. The father, imagined how hard it would be to put that picture together due to the blue ocean and all the shapes of the country! He gave it to his son to tape all the pieces together. The father relaxed in his chair hoping to rest until dinner. Within five minutes, his son returned with the picture assembled and taped together. The father (amazed and surprised) asked his son, "Matt, how did you assemble the picture so quickly?" Well you see Dad, (the son explained), on the opposite side of the paper is a picture of a man. So I put the man together, turned the paper over and there was a picture of North America!" Kiel Krommer
