The Tangibilization Process of an Anthroposophical National Congress in Mexico Figure 1: Artistic expression of Lauren Fullerton, participant in the Gathering and Waldorf teacher in Mexico Today I leave this space with the abundance that this group has offered me. I regain trust in myself. I am filled with hope for the certainty of being in a group of brothers who very much want what I want, and who are willing to give what they have and receive what I have. I am certain that despite my deficiencies, I have much more to give than I believe I have, or that I have made myself believe that I do not have. From today on I will be mindful of my I. Gerardo Galindo, Gathering Participant In a nutshell, this gathering of the Anthroposophical initiatives in Mexico works directly with the choosing of human agreements, for the individual and the community, deeply informed from the social three-folding insights in Anthroposophy. This is part of a larger Global Initiative supported by the Institute for Strategic Clarity and its co-investors in universities, communities, and organizations in 12 countries. This builds on deep work over the past twenty years within Anthroposophical communities across the United States, Europe, and Latin America, in addition to cross-sector work globally in many different forms of human agreements. The gathering was a continuum of the 2016 gathering exploring social three-folding. What is the story behind the manifestation? Annabel Membrillo, a founder member of the Anthroposophical Community in Queretaro and a Global Steward of Vibrancy, and Jalil Aragon, member of the Vibrancy Community, were part of the organizing group for The National Gathering of Anthroposophical Initiatives in México that was held in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, a beautiful town in the center of Mexico. The core group designing and hosting the event was a diverse group. The organizing group included members from two Anthroposophical communities in Mexico (San Miguel de Allende and Querétaro) that have being exploring what is the manifestation of the three folding in Mexico. This group also has another role in the community such as parents of Waldorf schools, biodynamic farmers, Anthroposophical doctors, Waldorf teachers, artists and/or community processes co-host.

As a wonderful treat, the main speaker was James Ritchie-Dunham, a member of the Social Science Section, an active member of the Hadley, MA community, President of the Institute for Strategic Clarity, and founder of Vibrancy Ins. Having James as a speaker allowed the Gathering to focus around the experience of abundance in healthy community. The main content was the interweaving of an Anthroposophical foundation with the practices of Ecosynomics, as a way of perceiving and understanding how our agreements create our experiences, and with that framing building a pragmatic understanding of the Social Three-folding structure and gesture for today s communities. As James shared, Great people, great place, and great food the perfect setting for exploring our experience of and intention for health community, within our teams, our organizations, and at the national level in Mexico. A deep dive within a lot of love and hard work. The gathering had several layers of complexity, ranging from the practical organization of 140 people moving, living, eating, learning, feeling along the rhythm of the day, the time constraints for organizing and designing the whole gathering and a pre-gathering exercise with a social technology used for the first time in Mexico, to the big challenge of a wide variety of expectations and degrees of Anthroposophical knowledge from the different perspectives that attended the gathering (schools, farms, business, civic organizations, healers, family representatives, etc.). The inspiration for the design The design was based on what we learned from the previous Gathering with the work done with Orland Bishop, frequent speaker in Anthroposophic circles, founder of the Shade Tree Multicultural Foundation and holds the Institute for Strategic Clarity 20160217 Homo lumens Fellowship. The work done in 2016 was a very rich opening of our minds, hearts and wills to prepare the agreements work for the 2017 gathering. The core group had an on-going exploration of the following themes: ü Shared purpose of the team The process was somehow difficult since two members of the organizing team live in different regions of Mexico. It was hard to find dates for in-person or offline meetings with the whole team. Thus, four months before the event, we found that we had not yet integrated into ourselves the beautiful purpose we had previously defined as a team. We saw the importance of finding the place and time to reconnect with it. In that meeting, we focused on exploring how each one of us felt in connection to the purpose and why we felt it was our task to hold the space for that to happen in the gathering. After that day, everyone was able to say, out loud, the purpose and share the invitation for the event with a deep understanding of it. The impulse was to make an invitation coming from love to create new agreements to live in healthier communities. All of this from an Ecosynomics perspective with the founding in a deep tradition within Anthroposophy.

ü Experience we wanted for the participants The whole design focused very carefully around the experience that would allow the participants to have a 3-day living experience of the purpose. It was a combination of sharing knowledge, space for practice, and dialog around our understanding through our own experiences. The design for each day kept in mind the deeper shared purpose, living the experience of a gradual expansion of that purpose from the individual to the initiatives to the Anthroposophical community at the national level. ü Creation of understanding and capacities The focus was on giving the participants the knowledge, examples and, more importantly, the practice to build up their own capacities to perceive their agreements and enter into healthier conversations with others in their communities. A key issue was to raise the awareness of the choice they can make to keep the conversation alive in their life and in their own communities, and to recognize in themselves their ability to respond, to practice, and to communicate their learnings. ü The possibility of a continuous dialog around the Gathering Theme The group decided to include an exercise using a social technology, which built up the collective wisdom, to nurture conversations before, during, and after the in-person gathering. We plan to continue the exercise, and we will share insights we gain along the way. Another possibility that opened at the end of the gathering was that the next organizing group wanted to take one more turn around the spiral for the community conversation. The first spirals in 2015 and 2016 opened our minds and hearts. The 2017 organizing group might be opening the will more strongly to act in our own agreements and maybe harvest experiences and practices. Why it was Ecosynomics The design of the Gathering was framed around living three main concepts of Ecosynomics: experience, agreements and Homo lumens. The participants were asked to bring to conscious how they perceive and feel their existing agreements, how was the experience they want to have, and what new agreements they need to build up to manifest the experience they want to have. During the three days, we engaged in several practices of deep inquiry and embodiment to look at ourselves and the others as Homo lumens, with the light of the spirit and the forces of creativity inside ourselves. The experience brought clarity of how the choosing of human agreements gives shape to the experiences we have as an individuals and in our communities, and the awareness of the will that we have to choose the agreements we want to manifest healthier relationships. Thank you for opening me to another world and to Homo lumens. Gathering Participant

How it was Anthroposophical As stated before, Ecosynomics is deeply rooted in Anthroposophy. The main work was around perception and the three-folding experience. Perception The rhythm of the gathering was built around working with the mind, heart and will. It invoked the inner connection with our wisdom through Eurythmic ritual space and taking questions into our sleep. It also asked for recovering our will power by naming, choosing our own agreements and bringing back home the practice of these three days. We also had a wonderful Mexican Eurythmist, Joel Aragón Colin, who worked with us through the three-folding gestures with movement. Witnessing him bringing the soul experience of each day through movement was a great gift for all of us, walking the straight line representing the individual will, the figure eight as the interconnection and integration of two sides, and the solidarity gesture in the outer circle. We tried to make a drawing of one of the days we worked with him just to give a small taste of what he was moving in the etheric body of the individuals and the group. I do not doubt that you found great challenges in the organization of this beautiful event. If your effort and hard work were able to plant the seed of hope in me, imagine what you planted in others. I hope that you can allow yourselves to see the magnitude of the enormous gift that you have given to the community, and that you can embrace and congratulate yourself for this tribute of love. With love and respect. M.L. Gathering Participant The work also gave the participants two practices to gradually develop the faculties of social perceptions and expand the way we use our social senses. One was an embodiment-of-relational-agreements practice, which cultivates in each one of us a healthy sense of how the forces of the social body have to work through us in order for it to have a healthier manifestation. The second was the practice of inquiry and listening to be aware of what each one of us was able to perceive as individuals and also of what others perceived. That conscious practice can bring the clarity of each individual s specific initiatory pathway, of the threshold we are each ready to go through. And as with any practice, the development of the social perception needs to be incorporated into one s own practice life.

Three-folding experience During the gathering, we went deeper into the essence of the social question that Steiner s threefolding presents to us, and we explored that question through the agreements lens of Ecosynomics. We experienced an embodied gesture for each one of the three-folding spheres, as three different manifestations of the experience we have in our lives and in our communities. ü The cultural sphere relates with the experience we have in our relationship with ourselves. The gesture connect us to our unique expression of who we really are, with our own healthy form of spiritual life, with the creation of this reality. A healthy manifestation of this sphere brings a consciousness of my unique expression of my Homo lumens, my higher self. ü The political sphere relates to the experience we have in our relationship with others. The embodied gesture connects us directly with what is involved in any human relationship, with how we see the other as another spiritual being. This connects us with the consciousness of being equal spiritual human beings with equal rights. ü The economic sphere relates with the experience we have in our relationship with the group. What is the contribution of each one of us to the collective? What do we produce, circulate and how do we do it? This has to do with how we influence the flow of contributions to the world around us. Here the focus of a healthy gesture is to create something bigger than ourselves that we cannot create alone, to hold the solidarity gesture of contributing to the social creation of the groups that we belong to. The flow of the experience The days moved along an expansion of the awareness of our experience. The first day focused on connecting with our individual experience, the second day was about our experience in our local communities, and the last day was around connecting with the Mexican community potential. 1 st day The first exploration was to understand my own experience and start with a conscious practice of seeing my agreements. We explored what is calling me from the collective will that gathered us together, what is my contribution, and what the other brings as a contribution to this creation. The second exploration was to remember to sit in the inquiry and to listen to discover, describe and name what I can see. Changing the way we enter into exploration (changing the verb) to find in the other our own reflection, to give unconditional attention to the other and perceived the Homo lumens in front of us.

2 nd day During the morning, the concept of community was reframed. We shared the results of the social technology pre-exercise (Windtunneling). Some of the people that contributd were not able to be there in body but were there with their inspiration. There were five questions that people could answer on- line one month before the event. The questions were: 1) features and agreements that improve communities; 2) features and agreements that interfere with community building; 3) how do I promote the health of the communities in which I belong; 4) questions that emerge; and 5) other thoughts and ideas. In that way we were able to bring more voices into the room, acknowledge that collective wisdom, and include that inspiration in our dialogs. We also went through the embodiment practice of the three-folding expressions, connecting that with our passions, with the reflection of the biggest gifts we could contribute to others. We then grounded the exploration in the specificity of each community, exploring the current and desired experience and agreements each community wanted to manifest. 3 rd day This day we witnessed the national community s potential and expanded the exploration to possible conversations that people wanted to host, at the national level, between gatherings. At the end of the day, we did an exercise to prepare ourselves, with our own words and gesture, to continue the exploration in our communities back home. During the 3-day gathering, we invited the participants to freely draw an image, words, etc. that represented their experience. At the end, we had around 90 different expressions and messages coming from the souls of the participants. As a last ritual we wove together those expressions as a symbol of our gratitude for the days lived together and as an offering to the space that welcomed us. The organizing team nurturing the experience The organizing team had several spaces for preparation before the big gathering. We see this as a must-have for holding the space together, especially in big groups. The organizing team worked together intensively in several meetings, aligning their work, where everyone was invited to contribute with the designing process, and we held a one-and-a-halfday retreat for preparation work just before the gathering. This allowed the organizing team to share an agreement regarding the experience and process we all wanted to experience in the gathering, tuning ourselves to the same frequency, and, more important, building up basic skills that were practiced consciously during the gathering.

While each individual of the organizing team is powerful, compassionate and wonderful Homo lumens, we are also human and, as such, some things happened during the whole process. We all had the clarity of being in a constant clarification of our agreements, and sometimes we were less conscious of how to do it. The invitation was deeply enriched by the gesture of abundance that the team had to connect with the contribution others could bring. As a result, the group supporting the whole event was bigger than the core team, including a very generous teacher and group of volunteers that were taking care of the participants children. The kids spent the three days in a very well designed, Waldorf experience that made it easier for many of the participants to be there, for which they were very grateful. I was honored and learned a lot with this beautiful group of Homo lumens. The power of tangibilization was present in the whole journey, finding the evidence for this in the beautiful manifestation of a transformational space for the participants and for me. I look forward to how we come together again in our journeys and to what we are able to create together. In the same way that I have shared participants thoughts and feelings, in these pages, I decided to share a poem that reflects my experience of being part of this. This is my own way of giving meaning to and honoring the journey. Recognize the other with all your senses, With the ones you already know you have, and with the ones you will discover, Be at the service of the other in a truthful way, Without fear to the initiation of new perceptions, Without fear to the initiation of new pathways, Without fear of crossing the next threshold for your own evolution, Inquire into what others are, to find what you can become, Hold the strength of the other, to find your own strength, Explore the highest contribution of others to find your contribution, And so, you will be seeing yourself in the light of the eyes of the other, And you will treasure with your thinking heart Your inner call from wisdom and love.
