From the desk of Fr. Tom Kreiser Did You Know? I thought I would catch you up on a few things that are going on. Sometimes we hear things at Mass and they don t really process because of our distractions. Did you know that our World Youth Day group is running a raffle? Tickets are $100. (I know that is a lot but tickets can be split among a group of people). All who participate are invited to an hors d oeurves and beverage night on September 26 th from 7:30 till 10:00. At that time we will draw all the numbers and nine lucky winners will receive prizes ranging from $250 to $5000. Get your ticket at the rectory or after Mass today. We currently have 45 people attending World Youth Day. While this is an awesome number, it means that we have to do that much more fund raising. Please continue to support our efforts. The windows at the Rectory have been replaced. The old windows were from the original construction in 1959, and were very inefficient. Besides, they let a lot of cold in during the winter. The new windows will ultimately save us on energy costs. St. Patrick s school is going high tech! The 6 th, 7 th and 8 th grades will be using IPAD technology starting in September. Their books and notes will all be kept on IPADS. I believe we are the first school in the area to do this. We hope to expand this technology to the younger grades in the years to come. Spread the word that St. Patrick s School is keeping up with the times. Speaking of St. Patrick s School, four of our teachers and our principal have retired. We wish all good things to Monica Virgilio, Monica Palansky, Susan Giordano, Joanne Zadjelovich, and Mary Nicolari. And we welcome our new principal, Darlene DelVecchio, and the new teachers that will be joining the staff. We know that they will bring a fresh new spirit to our school. We have not yet received any information regarding tickets for the Papal Mass at Madison Square Garden. Many people have asked us about it. We will provide information as soon as we have something to share. Because of the time frame, the selection of those who will get tickets may be very quick. So keep your eyes and ears open so that you don t miss your opportunity. Summer is not quite over. There are still a few days to enjoy and relax before the school year starts again and we are back to our daily grind. We hope that everyone has had a restful summer and that we will approach our duties with renewed energy and faith. God bless you.
