What is ReConnect? The ReConnect Street Intervention Program is part of the YMCA. They have been providing short term and long term assistance for several years, through outreach to youth and adults who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. Through immediate charitable action and work to help individuals develop choices and approaches in their life that will help them be more self sufficient. ReConnect partners with downtown merchants, community organizations and local churches to ensure that overall community needs are being addressed as well as the needs of those they are helping. ReConnect often meets individuals and families at times of crisis, so they are addressing issues with food, safe housing, employment and counseling. The downtown churches gather monthly with ReConnect to receive updates on their interventions, hear about services and resources available and consider ways that we can be of assistance. The Volunteer Centre s Respite Care Services for Children with Special Needs program offers local families hours of relief care and an opportunity for their child to make new friends. We need caring people to help support these families a few hours each month. We are presently looking for volunteers in the following areas: Dieppe, Moncton, Riverview, Hillsborough, Dorchester, Shediac and Kent County. For more information please contact: Edie Savoie Shituku, Director of Respite Care Services, Volunteer Centre of Southeastern NB Inc. 22 Church Street, Suite T290, Moncton, NB, E1E 0P7 (506)869-6774 email: respite@nb.aibn.com
