Winter/Spring 2014/15 Dear Friends of the Mission Many thanks, once again, to all of you who support the work of Belfast City Mission. By your prayers and practical giving we are enabled to continue on into another very busy winter s work and all that that entails. We continue to praise God for all that He has done for us this past session; the salvation of precious souls, saints growing in grace, backsliders restored, prayers answered for healing and the Lord s continued provision fi nancially in these diffi cult times. We are living in days of increased hostility to the Gospel where the Christian message is being bombarded from all directions. Pray that our staff remain steadfast, unmovable and always abounding in the work of the Lord. May you know God s richest blessing in these challenging times. Mr Fred Teenie, an Elder in Ballylinney Presbyterian Church has been appointed to take on this new role. He and his wife Dorothy have been connected to the Glencairn Hall also for about forty years, Dorothy being the pianist. We wish Fred and the folk of Mayo Street every success in the coming days. Snappy Snaps from around the Mission Are you a Christian with experience behind you? Do you belong to the Presbyterian Church in Ireland? Have you participated in preaching engagements? Have you a passion to see people won for Jesus Christ? Have you attended Bible College? Have you a deep understanding of Scripture? Have you been involved in door to door outreach or open air work? Have you served the Lord in a full time capacity before? Do you feel the call of God on your life to be used by Him? If so, have you ever considered the work of the Belfast City Mission? We have been serving the Lord from 1827, evangelising in our City to the churchless, careless and the Christless. At present we have vacancies that need to be fi lled but to be fi lled with God s choice, not ours. 100 (NOT OUT!) Mr Michael Waddell (Missionary of Canton Street Hall) and Executive Secretary, Bobi Brown had the pleasure of visiting a centenarian in Bangor Care Home. Mrs Margaret Connor has had a strong connection with the Belfast City Mission for many, many, years. She, along with her family, attended Lord Street City Mission Hall and then when it closed she began to attend Canton Street Hall. Due to failing health she moved to Bangor to be near her daughter Lily and son-in-law John Dunn. We wish her many happy returns and trust the Lord will bless her in the coming days. Pastures New Eleven years ago, Mr Paul Hamill joined the ranks of the Belfast City Mission. Paul was a product of the Rathcoole Hall and I m sure as a young Christian would never have thought in his wildest dreams that one day he would be the Missionary in the hall he was brought up in. Paul worked alongside Mr Roy Graham until Roy s retirement some years ago and then Mr Gary Bingham came on board to serve alongside Paul. Paul is an industrious worker and a gifted speaker and made a big impression, not only among the folk in the hall, but further afi eld. Recently Paul stood and was elected as a Councillor for Macedon Electoral Area in Newtownabbey. We wish Paul, his wife Ruth and their two girls Grace and Sarah God s richest blessing for future days as they take their leave of us. Charity Shop Volunteers required Winter/Spring 2014/15-7 -
