South Omo Project What began as a small project of sending 3 Indigenous Church Planters to reach the Hamar tribe has now escalated into a full scale chuch planting movement! Early in 2017 our Church Planters reacted quickly to a devasting drought that caused the loss of the majority of cattle in the area with a Work for Food Program that would help to replace the lost income normally generated by selling cattle milk in the market. Now with 7 Coordinators & over 150 trained volunteers we are planting churches among the unreached Hamar, Banna, Nyangatom, Arbore, Tsamay, and Daasanach Tribes! South Omo Project In the last year 88 locally supported church planters have been trained and are now working to reach the tribes! Church Planter Training 8,399 people in the South Omo experienced a one on one presentation of the Gospel from our teams! This led to 952 people deciding to follow Jesus, and 342 recommitting their lives to Jesus! With this group of new followers, 153 house churches were planted under the oversight of locally supported church planters trained in the Kale Hewot Bible School. House Church Gathering A New Believer! Because literacy is so low, we provided 50 Solar Powered Audio Bibles for use in the house churches. Baptisms! Additionally, 6 Jesus Film Backpack Kits have been distributed to the field coordinators, as well as three mountain bikes, and in one year they showed the film 122 times to 4,666 people! A New House Church!
Reaching the Oromo Made up of 18 different sub-groups the Oromo account for more than 34% of the nation of Ethiopia. NCM currently supports 92 Oromo Church Planting Families! These teams shared the Gospel with 57,529 people! 4,382 Oromos decided to follow Jesus and 49 new registered churches were planted! In the Arsi and Bale areas we have partnered with a training center that focuses on specifically reaching the Muslim Oromos. In 2017 over 700 Muslims in this area gave their lives to Jesus, were trained in a one week intensive program, and baptized! This year we are beginning a large scale project in The Blood Village to bring fresh water, a public cemetary, and a kindergarten school!
From The Field As God s kingdom is still advancing, we know the enemy will not quietly allow us to win souls for Christ. We will fight the good fight till we win. As I used to be a leader in the Mosque, so many people come to ask me what happened to me, they look at me as a betrayer. With God s help, I always answer their questions and I sometimes do not know how I managed to answer. One day I went to visit my friend who is a minister. He called many youths and gave them a ball. I started telling them what Qur an says about Jesus and they all came and started asking me may questions. I answered and we finally agree to come together other time and they were all happy. Please praise Lord for He gave me grace on my ministry. NCM Oromo Church Planter
Campus Based Missions 91 University Students were sent on short term mission this Summer to 9 different sites where they would spend a week sharing the Gospel with Unreached People Groups in partnership with our Church Planters! NCM supports Campus Based Missions Programs in 8 different Universities! In 2017 through this program 8,032 people heard the Gospel! 652 decided to follow Jesus! All living in areas that are primarily dominated by radical Orthodox or Islamic people groups!
Northern Ethiopia Due to Radicalized Orthodox believers, the North is one of the most challenging places in Ethiopia for Evangelical Christians to live. NCM currently supports 20 Church Planting families, 4 University programs, and a Widow and Orphan Project in the North. In 2017, we built two fresh water projects, completed a sanitary meat slaughter house, imported 20,000 educational books for schools, trained over 40 Church Leaders, distributed solar powered audio bibles as well as printed bibles, and provided free medical treatment to 1,355 people! While our teams faced much persecution, including one of our project sites being burned down, we have strong hope for 2018 to be the year of breakthrough!
Frontlines Project There are 6.7 million Somali & 5.8 million Hararghe Oromo in Eastern Ethiopia 97%+ do not know Jesus! During our first year of working among the Somali in Eastern Ethiopia we saw the unexpected! 3,440 Somali and Hararghe Oromo heard & 315 chose to follow Jesus! one official church was planted on the border of Somalia as well as one in a city of 30,000 that had zero churches before!
Coastal Kenya Known as a recruiting ground for the Al-Shabab Terrorist group, this dark region has experienced incredible transformation by the power of god! In 2017 our teams presented the Gospel to 10,781 people! In this challenging environment, we would expect few, if any to accept Jesus as savior due to persecution. To our surprise, 266 muslims decided to follow Jesus and 143 recommitted their lives to Jesus. With the help of nearly 100 volunteers, we have now planted 121 cell churches and 10 official churches! This year we hope to establish muslim background beleiver(mbb) Transitional Homes to help persecuted believers transition into new safer communities.
Coastal Kenya Testimony In our last outreach event i witnessed God doing miracles which caused muslims to pay attention to the gospel of the kingdom of God. For many years we have tried to seek for a way to preach at this village but the community would not allow us or any one to preach there. thank God when we presented the jesus film they responded postivly and allowed us to finally preach!we witnessed to many muslims and they responded well to the gospel of jesus christ! ~NCM Kenya Church Planter Francis
The Time is Now! Every year God continues to surprise us with an abundant harvest! This year has truly been above all others and doors are opening in the darkest places of Africa! Your continued prayer and financial support is making an eternal impact in Ethiopia & Kenya! We are so grateful for your partnership! As you can see from the graph below, we are experiencing incredible growth! As our ministry continues to grow, so does our responsibility to manage it effectively. Our heart is to send as much of every donation as we can to our programs in Africa, and the majority of the staff we hire are indigenous. However, most of our advocacy and program management efforts require staff here in the U.S. and currently we only have 2 full-time U.S. staff members! The WINN Fund empowers us to hire more staff here in the U.S. and on the ground in Africa to effectively raise funds and oversee the various projects, trainings, outreaches, finances, and make sure our Church Planters are well equipped! for the Kingdom, Erik Laursen Executive Director New Covenant Missions New Church Plants Approved Count 4 Zero Org
