Mass of Anointing at St. Anthony s Chapel Sunday, May 22nd The Sacrament of the Sick will be administered during a special Mass on Sunday, May 22nd at 1:00 pm at St. Anthony s Chapel. This administration of the sacrament of the sick in this context is offered for those Catholics who are experiencing physical ailments of a serious nature: those who will be undergoing surgery for serious reasons, the elderly who have become notably weakened even though no serious illness is present, those who are battling serious illnesses and have not been anointed recently, and children who have reached the age of reason and are seriously ill. Eucharistic Adoration & Veneration of the Relic of Sts. Peter & Paul at St. Anthony's Chapel On Sunday, June 5 at 3:00 pm, we will begin to pray the Church's evening prayer before Christ in the Eucharist. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the monstrance at the beginning of evening prayer and the service will conclude with Benediction, Christ imparting His blessing to us in His Eucharistic Presence. Following the service, the faithful who wish to do so will have the opportunity to venerate a relic of one of the saints. For June, it will be the relic of Saints Peter & Paul whose feast day is June 29th. St. Anthony s Feast Day & Luncheon Join us in celebrating the glorious Feast Day of St. Anthony of Padua on Monday, June 13th. Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel at 8:30 am and 7:30 pm. A dinner in honor of St. Anthony will be held in Most Holy Name school hall at 6:00 pm. Tickets for the luncheon are $25 per person and the menu includes: Tavern Ham, Chicken Piccata, Potato with Vegetable, Spring Salad, Fruit Kabob, Beverage & Dessert. Reservations are required for the luncheon. For tickets or more information, please call Carole at 412-999-4401. Please celebrate with us. Feast Day Raffles - We will hold two raffles on June 13th to benefit the Chapel: An Icon Painting of The Good Shepherd; and a European Basket with many religious items. Raffle tickets are $2 each. From The desk of Fr. Jim Please keep in your prayers our Confirmation Students who will be receiving the Sacrament June 4th at Holy Wisdom Church. May The Holy Spirit fill them with His sevenfold gift and many other choice gifts as well. The Corpus Christi Procession will be after the 9am Mass next week. This is one expression of our devotion to our Eucharistic Lord that most Parishes do not have and is to our Credit that we still do. I hope to see you there. I d like to draw to your attention something that has happened twice in the last month and I d like your assistance in addressing. Twice on different days different individuals have received in the hand and walked away without consuming the Holy Eucharist within my view. This was definitely done by non-parishioners. The Church is very definite that when one receives in the hand, one is to take one step to the side and consume the Blessed Sacrament. All the parishioners here do this. As I said this was done by outsiders who seem to have not been properly instructed. If you see that an individual has not consumed the Blessed Sacrament, please kindly remind them that they are to do so. If they do not, refer the matter to an Eucharistic Minister or Usher whoever is handiest. If necessary approach the priest celebrating the Mass. This needs to be done as soon as is noticed so that the matter can be addressed before Mass is over. This is a precaution as there are those who steal the Blessed Sacrament to desecrate it in misguided rituals. Usually this will be someone who just is acting out of misguided piety but if you see this person put the Blessed Sacrament in a container or In their pocket, it becomes especially important that this be brought to attention. In our parishes where the Holy Eucharist is held in such high esteem, we should have all eyes looking out for any misguided actions with regard to the Blessed Sacrament. God bless you. Pax, Fr. Jim Mass Attendance May 14 & 15 Saturday: Sunday: Total attendance at both churches:
