Past Pilgrims Testimonies If you are wishing to plan a pilgrimage of any sort, I highly recommend to you, Pilgrim Center of Hope... and its founders, Mary Jane and Tom Fox. It was not a tour, not a vacation, not another international trip. Mary Jane and Tom were instrumental in making it a true pilgrimage, focused very intentionally on seeking the Lord. Most Rev. Archbishop Paul Etienne We could spend hours just telling one person all the graces and blessings we all received as pilgrims on this trip. Our Lord and the Holy Spirit were definitely with us every step of the way. We will be telling everyone we know that they need to go on one of your pilgrimages and God willing we will be traveling with you again. Mark & Kathy On the occasion of Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller s reception of the pallium from Pope Benedict XVI in 2011, the Archdiocese of San Antonio desired an Italy Pilgrimage to include the Archbishop and family, Auxiliary Bishop, archdiocesan employees, clergy, and lay faithful. They entrusted Pilgrim Center of Hope with this task. We have been blessed immeasurably over the years because of the pilgrimages we have been on with you, the miracles we have witnessed, and the people who have touched our lives. We look forward to the reunion and hope for (another) one in the near future. Thank you again for being a part of our ongoing spiritual awakening. Our Catholic faith is amazing and through our pilgrimages with you, we have been witness to more than we could have ever dreamed. Tony & Cindy My expectations were set very high, and I was not disappointed. I will never consider taking a pilgrimage with anyone but Pilgrim Center of Hope. Jack The Group Leaders were excellent; best I ve experienced. Mary I will highly recommend this to friends and family. All the Group Leaders were phenomenal; professional, talented, patient, excellent communicators. JoAnn Support from Church Leadership I truly appreciate your dedication to all the people you evangelize through your pilgrimages and for your love of God and Church. The people who have experienced your ministry connect with the Lord and the Church in new ways, and that is invaluable. May the Lord continue to bless the work and ministry of the Pilgrim Center of Hope and thank you for your faithful service to the Church and the people of God. Most Rev. Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, M.Sp.S., Archbishop of San Antonio Be assured of our continuing prayers for you and your special evangelization and pilgrimage Ministry... May the Lord bless and keep you in His love and mercy. Answering the Call Group Leaders Pilgrim Center of Hope founders, Tom and Mary Jane Fox, experienced a re-awakening of their Catholic faith in the 1980s. While on a trip through the Holy Land, a local priest directed them to take a silent walk along the Sea of Galilee. There, Jesus unmistakably spoke to them. In September 1986, they left their respective careers in hotel management and the travel industry to work full-time for St. Matthew Church in San Antonio. For the first seven years, their main ministry was door-to-door home visitation; in the first few years, they visited over 10,000 families. Mary Jane Fox, L.H.S. Co-Founder & Co-Director In 1992, the Foxes led a group of pilgrims in the Holy Land. After escorting the group to the airport, Tom and Mary Jane returned to Jerusalem to spend two weeks in a simple hermitage in the Garden of Gethsemane. In those two weeks of prayer, they discerned that God wanted them to answer Pope John Paul II s call for a new evangelization, by developing a Catholic evangelization ministry. With the blessing of their bishop, and the crucial support of friends and benefactors, the Pilgrim Center of Hope was founded in June of 1993. When the Foxes answered Christ s call, they were ready to abandon their skills and talents in travel and hospitality. Pilgrimages were not in the plan for the extent of Pilgrim Center of Hope s ministry, but community members and parishes continued to ask the Foxes to organize and lead Catholic pilgrimages. Before long, the couple realized that this was not a coincidence, but a calling from God! We invite you to become a part of this continuing story... Join us on a journey of faith! Ministry of Pilgrimages Among the Pilgrim Center of Hope s three main areas of ministry is the Ministry of Pilgrimages, presenting: Customized International Pilgrimages Presentations on Pilgrimages Interactive educational & spiritual experiences for a parish, school, or group Why Pilgrimages? A pilgrimage is an experience of God s grace that not only affects our relationship with Him, but also all of our other relationships, and it builds up the Body of Christ the universal Church. With the Pilgrim Center of Hope s mission to both (1) answer Christ s call, and (2) guide people to personally encounter Christ; it is clear why pilgrimages are the foundation and wellspring of this unique ministry. Mary Jane is an award-winning, full-time Catholic evangelist with both personal and professional background in travel. She experienced the life of a military family, and met her husband, Tom, while working in the hospitality industry. Mary Jane excelled in a professional career as a travel agent. After a reawakening of their faith in the 1980s, she and her husband pursued the Lord s call for their lives. Their evangelization ministry has led them across the United States, as well as to Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Eygpt, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, and Turkey. Mary Jane is a Lady of the Holy Sepulcher (L.H.S) of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher, under the Holy See. She and Deacon Tom Fox are active parishioners of St. Matthew Catholic Church in San Antonio. Debbie Garza Ministry of Pilgrimages Group Leader Debbie has been praised by our past pilgrims as a true servant. She is a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Leon Springs, where she is involved in catechetical and liturgical ministries. As both a pilgrim and a Group Leader, Debbie has spent extensive time in both Rome and Assisi, as well as Turin, Venice, Padua, and San Giovanni Rotondo. In addition to her knowledge about Italian culture and holy sites, she is well-versed in the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi. She is a graduate of Oblate School of Theology s Spiritual Companion Program. What Is A Group Leader? Unique to Pilgrim Center of Hope pilgrimages are these experienced, trained, dedicated individuals who were inspired to join our mission and ministry. Each has applied for, and been apprenticed in, this important role: Prior to Your Journey Involved in the planning of your pilgrimage Help facilitate your spiritual and practical preparation During Your Pilgrimage Accompany and serve you in your individual needs Free you of stress from logistical details; working with the local guide, driver, Spiritual Director, and other ground partners, to ensure that you have a smooth and maximum pilgrimage experience After Your Pilgrimage Remain united in prayer for you and your intentions
