Order of Worship Welcome and greetings Brian Salter, associate pastor * Call to worship taken from Daniel 2 and Psalm 89 Leader: Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. All: He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him. Leader: I will sing of the Lord s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. All: I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself. * Hymn of praise Our Great God Eternal God, unchanging, mysterious and unknown; your boundless love unfailing, in grace and mercy shown; bright seraphim in endless flight around your glorious throne, they raise their voices day and night in praise to you alone. Refrain: Hallelujah! Glory be to our great God! Hallelujah! Glory be to our great God! Lord, we are weak and frail, helpless in the storm; surround us with your angels, hold us in your arms; our cold and ruthless enemy, his pleasure is our harm, rise up, O Lord, and he will flee before our sovereign God. Refrain Let every creature in the sea and every flying bird; let every mountain, every field and valley of the earth; let all the moons and all the stars in all the universe. sing praises to the living God, who rules them by his Word. Refrain words and music Fernando Ortega and Mac Powell 2002 Word Music, LLC, ARR, ICS, UBP, CCLI Lic.#152036

* Prayer of adoration Call to confession 1 John 1:5-9 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Silent prayers of confession Assurance of God s pardoning grace based on 1 John 4:10; 1 Peter 2:9 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. For you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. * Hymn of assurance I Will Glory in My Redeemer I will glory in my Redeemer, whose priceless blood has ransomed me. Mine was the sin that drove the bitter nails, and hung him on that judgment tree. I will glory in my Redeemer, who crushed the power of sin and death. My only Savior before the holy Judge: the Lamb who is my righteousness; the Lamb who is my righteousness. I will glory in my Redeemer, my life he bought, my love he owns. I have no longings for another, I m satisfied in him alone. I will glory in my Redeemer; his faithfulness my standing place. Though foes are mighty and rush upon me, my feet are firm, held by his grace; my feet are firm, held by his grace. I will glory in my Redeemer, who carries me on eagles wings. He crowns my life with loving kindness; his triumph song I ll ever sing. I will glory in my Redeemer, who waits for me at gates of gold, and when he calls me it will be paradise, his face forever to behold; his face forever to behold. words and music by Steve and Vikki Cook 2001 Sovereign Grace Worship ARR, ICS, UBP, CCLI Lic.#152036

Pastoral prayer * Hymn of response Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder * Benediction * Doxology Let us love and sing and wonder, let us praise the Savior s name, he has hushed the law s loud thunder, he has quenched Mount Sinai s flame, he has washed us with his blood (3x), he has brought us nigh to God. Let us wonder, grace and justice join and point to mercy s store; when through grace in Christ our trust is, justice smiles and asks no more: he who washed us with his blood (3x), has secured our way to God. Let us praise and join the chorus of the saints enthroned on high; here they trusted him before us, now their praises fill the sky: Thou hast washed us with thy blood (3x), thou art worthy, Lamb of God! words by John Newton, 1774 Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; praise him above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. SERMON NOTES Lessons from the Lamp Mark 4:21-25 1. Lessons from the Lamp He is the Lamp that comes! (v. 21) He is the Lamp that reveals. (v. 22) 2. Lessons about our hearing Our hearing must be careful. (vv. 23-24) Our hearing must be cautious. (vv. 24-25) BIG IDEA: He is the Lamp that reveals. We need ears that hear him well.

Mark 4:21-25 21 He said to them, Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don t you put it on its stand? 22 For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. 23 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear. 24 Consider carefully what you hear, he continued. With the measure you use, it will be measured to you and even more. 25 Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.
