SUNDAY JUNE 10: TENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Readings: Gn 3:9-15/2 Cor 4:13 5:1/ Mk 3:20-35 As God predicted in our first reading, Jesus drives Satan out. He drives out all that would separate us from a relationship with him. And we can have a relationship with him. Jesus tells those in the crowd (and us) who are listening to his words, that whoever does the will of God is his brother and sister and mother. Seek the will of God in prayer, in reading his Word, and draw near to Christ. Ask Mary to teach you to trust his will for you, to love him with all your heart and mind and soul, and to love your neighbor as yourself.

So shall the just one flourish, like a cedar (Ps). As we walk by faith and not by sight (2), may our lives bear fruit in abundance. Ambrose Loftus Elizabeth Betty Haley

Note From the Pope, Pope Francis continued his catechesis series on the sacrament of confirmation, explaining that the gift of the Spirit is communicated through the laying on of hands and anointing with sacred chrism. He said that confirmation recalls and renews the promises made at Baptism and invokes a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Through this, we are even more closely united to Christ and can be witnesses for Him in the world today. He asked that every Christian grow in gratitude for the gifts received at Confirmation. SUMMARY OF PAPAL HOMILY Dear brothers and sisters, In our catechesis on the sacrament of Confirmation, we have seen that it is a further spiritual anointing that completes the grace of Baptism and leads to the Eucharist. The rite of Confirmation recalls and renews the promises made at Baptism and invokes a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Just as Jesus received the outpouring of the Spirit at his baptism in order to carry out his messianic mission, the Church prays that we too may receive the gifts and fruits of the Spirit that enable us to help the Body of Christ grow in unity and missionary zeal. The gift of the Spirit is communicated through the laying on of hands and anointing with sacred chrism. Saint Paul sheds lights on the meaning of these sacramental signs when he says that God has anointed us, by putting his seal on us and giving us his Spirit in our hearts (2 Cor 1:21-22). Sealed with the Holy Spirit, we are configured more closely to Christ and strengthened to bear witness to him in our world. May each of us grow in gratitude for the gift received at our Confirmation and open our hearts ever more fully to the creativity of the Spirit who makes all things new. I greet the English-speaking pilgrims and visitors taking part in today s Audience, particularly those from England, Scotland, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia and the United States of America. I also offer a prayerful greeting to the Felician Sisters presently celebrating their General Chapter. Upon all of you, and your families, I invoke the joy and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you! OUR TITHING PARISH THE MOST HOLY TRINITY This Year $ 6,231.50 Last Year $ 7,382.70 Youth $ 18.50 THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST This Year $ 10,515.00 Last Year $ 9,126.00 Youth $ 16.00 Electronic Giving (May) $ 4,126.00 Pennies From Heaven (May) $ 225.83 Food Pantry Donations (May) 72 items Critical Needs Donations (May) 46 items Thank you for your continued generosity. Note From the Pastor, It s Our Church, It s Our Future is the theme for the Diocesan wide Capital Campaign. Because 75% of the money raised stays here in our parish and only 25% goes to the Diocese, it is really our campaign more than the Diocese s. What will the money be used for here at Holy Family? We have identified three areas to be addressed. First of all the parking, increasing the number of parking spaces on the north side of the church from 30 to 80. Second replacement of the current protective glass on the exterior of our stained glass windows with a system that will also protects the wood frames more effectively. Third to insulate the exterior of the new addition on the back of the rectory which will make it easier to heat during the winter months. We have had three receptions here at Holy Family to which everyone was invited. Many people asked questions during the events. However the day after one of the events a parishioner asked a very good question which she did not want to ask in public. Sometimes these are the best questions. She wanted to know if she made a pledge and then something happened to her husband and she would not be able to pay, what happens. As I have explained before, a pledge is a statement of your intentions, however things can change. A pledge is not a contract. Some of you might remember that I explained before that you could lose your job, or your health could deteriorate, or you could win the lottery. You may remember that the latter event worked out well for us during our last campaign. So what will I pledge, because it is important to maintain my other charitable giving as well as participate in this very important event. I will pledge $8,000 and just maybe, if I remember to buy the lottery tickets, I could win the lottery and then give more. It will be everyone's job to remind me to buy the tickets. You all know that I am getting older and more forgetful. Fr. Steven Murray

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP "The pace of consumption, waste and environmental change has so stretched the planet s capacity the effects of the present imbalance can only be reduced by your decisive actions, here and now." Laudato Si (#161), Blessed are the Consumers, for they have a choice. One step to end Plastic Pollution: take a little extra time when shopping, select products without individual plastic packaging, and avoid products that are excessively wrapped in plastic.

PLANNED GIVING: Give Your House and Continue to Live There: You may want to make a major gift to our parish. Why not consider real estate: This is called a life estate gift. This simply means that you give a piece of real estate, such as your residence, to our parish, obtain a charitable income tax deduction and retrain the right to live there as long as you want. This arrangement removes the property from you estate and relieves your executor from having to dispose of your home at your death. Contact Scott Lalone at the Diocese at 315-393-2920 or Email slalone@rcdony.org for further information.
