If We Die With The Lord We Shall Live With The Lord THE WEEK AHEAD When my Father was dying twenty-two years ago, one of my relatives said to me in anger, So much for our Prayers. I didn t feel that way. Although I was saddened by my father s impending death, I didn t give up on praying. To this day, I believe my faith and my prayers helped my Father through the many months that he suffered. I believe God gave me the strength to see him through this ordeal. My Mother reinforced this when she told me I couldn t have gotten through this without my faith. In the Gospel today the synagogue official and the woman who was sick for twelve years refused to give up. They believed that God would help them even when the crowd says what s the use? Their faith is rewarded in the healing they asked for. Jesus reassures them not to be afraid and to have faith. Faith allows us to be there for the sick and to comfort them even when healing seems impossible. Jesus promised us that He will be with us always even in suffering and death. In life and in death we are the Lord s. Fr. John L. Greene MEN S CLUB MEETING Our Summer Meeting will be held on Monday, July 2nd. Doors open at 6:00pm. If you d like to read our Bishops Conference statement, you can find it at www.usccb.org. Thank you. Sr. Sheral Opportunities for the Summer I ll be arranging for a group of us to volunteer at St. Anthony s on one weekday and one Saturday during July or August, so if you d like to join us, please send me an e -mail to sheralmar@saintroberts.org and I ll respond to you as soon as I have the dates. The shift is from 9:15 until 1:45 and involves a lot of walking, so is not appropriate for young children. Confirmation candidates are most welcome! We ll carpool from the rectory, leaving at 8:30 am and returning here around 2:30. As always, thank you for your donation of toiletries for our homeless neighbors who come to St. Anthony s. Everyone who comes to their Clothing Program receives some of them. The grocery program at Belle Air School continues throughout the summer. We re especially grateful for new volunteers since some of the regulars will either be gone on vacation or have visitors coming here. June 28 is this month s distribution; July 26 and August 23 are the other summer dates. We gather at Belle Air about 1:30 and usually finish about 4:30 or so. Even if you can only come for an hour or two, we are happy to have you. Thank you! Sr. Sheral ALTAR FLOWERS Would you like to donate flowers for the altar in memory of a loved one or for a birthday or anniversary?
