5 Oratio (Collect) The collect of the day should have a Flexa ( ) a Metrum (dip and return or other medial cadence), a Punctum (descent of a fifth) where the differentia normally would be. The last verse uses a flexa (optional), metrum, and differentia or flexa. General collect (most often used at Compline, before bed; we will usually choose a different one): Visit we beg Thee, O Lord, this dwelling, and drive from it all the snares of the enemy; let Thy holy Angels dwell herein to keep us in peace; and let Thy blessing be always upon us. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Another Collect: For Virgins and Martyr Deus, qui inter cetera potentiae tuae miracula, etiam in sexu fragili victoriam martyrii contulisti: concede propitius; ut qui beatae [ N ] Virginis et Martyris tuae natalitia colimus, * per ejus ad te exempla gradiamur.
