Call to Worship Open our hearts, O God, so we might receive you. Incline your ear to the Lord; Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. Listen for the word of God; May our hearts and minds be open to you, and may we receive your Spirit of wisdom and guidance in our lives, today and every day. Amen Hymn Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing nettleton The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you. 3

Prayer of the Day Lesson Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9 So now, Israel, give heed to the statutes and ordinances that I am teaching you to observe, so that you may live to enter and occupy the land that the Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you. You must neither add anything to what I command you nor take away anything from it, but keep the commandments of the Lord your God with which I am charging you. You must observe them diligently, for this will show your wisdom and discernment to the peoples, who, when they hear all these statutes, will say, Surely this great nation is a wise and discerning people! For what other great nation has a god so near to it as the Lord our God is whenever we call to him? And what other great nation has statutes and ordinances as just as this entire law that I am setting before you today? But take care and watch yourselves closely, so as neither to forget the things that your eyes have seen nor to let them slip from your mind all the days of your life; make them known to your children and your children s children. 4 Gracious God, you have written compassion, love, and grace into our very being. Grant us awareness of the needs around us and the ability to give from inside ourselves, so that we might live into your beloved community here on earth as it is in heaven. In the name of Christ, who has shown us the way, we pray. We pray in the name of Christ, who has shown us the way. Amen Anthem Oh, Happy Day WE INVITE CHILDREN TO DOCK AT THIS TIME Please make sure your child is wearing a nametag with name and grade level. ************* See FRONT OF INSERT for Pickup Locations ************** Anthem He Never Failed Me Yet Psalm 15 Read in unison O Lord, who may abide in your tent? and do no evil to their friends, nor take up a reproach against their neighbors; in whose eyes the wicked are despised, but who honor those who fear the Lord; who stand by their oath even to their hurt; who do not lend money at interest, and do not take a bribe against the innocent. Those who do these things shall never be moved. Hymn The Gift of Love gift of love CCLI No. 617227 5

Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen Holy Gospel Mark 7:14-23 Glory to you, O Lord. Then Jesus called the crowd again and said to them, Listen to me, all of you, and understand: there is nothing outside a person that by going in can defile, but the things that come out are what defile. When he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about the parable. He said to them, Then do you also fail to understand? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile, since it enters, not the heart but the stomach, and goes out into the sewer? (Thus he declared all foods clean.) And he said, It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person. Praise to you, O Christ. Sermon Inside Out Pastor Brian Norsman 6
