S A C R E D H E A R T S A C A D E M Y e-parentline Easter celebrations at the Academy began with traditional Lenten ashes on February 14 and continued through the Holy Thursday Paraliturgy, on March 29. This year, the school ohana spent the period taking a renewed focus on others before self while exalting LORD I LIFE YOUR NAME ON HIGH!

Easter Blessings From the Head of School EASTER GREETINGS The Lenten season started with Ash Wednesday service for the entire school, and this special season of spiritual growth and renewal has been marked by many events to remind us that prayer, fasting and sharing with others are important ways of following Jesus onto the Cross. Students and staff gathered today to recall the most sacred events of the Christian faith the Last Supper, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. Hopefully each of your daughters left our beautiful Paraliturgy understanding that since Jesus has risen from the dead, he is alive, and we must make him active in our daily living. We hope your family uses the foundation your daughter has received in school to enrich the Easter experience for your loved ones and relatives. As you celebrate the blessing of the risen Christ with your family and friends, may your family be filled with joy as you sing our Alleluias. EASTER IS THE SEC- OND BIGGEST CELE- BRATION IN MY FAMILY! When I was growing up, along with my six siblings, we colored eggs, put one in each person s basket and placed them on the porch to await the Easter Bunny s special goodies. Most importantly, celebrating Mass on Easter Sunday was an integral part of my day with my family. I, along with our Sisters, wish you and your family the abundant blessings of the Risen Christ! Sr. Regina Mary Jenkins, SS.CC., Provincial Last weekend, my family was at the store picking out colorful cards for relatives on the mainland, choosing just the right candies for our daughter s Easter Egg Hunt and taking time to smell the Easter lilies in bloom. WE WERE REMINDED OF THE ANTICIPATION THAT COMES WITH SPRING AND THE SENSE OF AWE BROUGHT BY CHRIST S RISING! May this special time of year bring to the Academy community new hope, new aspirations and a joyful celebration of Easter! Scott Schroeder, Chair Board of Directors

Easter Blessings When I was younger, my favorite part about Easter was hunting for colorful eggs in the backyard. NOW, I CHERISH THIS SEASON AS A TIME TO SPEND WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS GIVING THANKS FOR EACH OTHER AND THE MANY BLESSINGS IN OUR LIVES. Easter is a time to reflect and remember that because of Jesus sacrifice, we have the everlasting gift of new life! Julia Oehlers, President High School Student Council AS WE MOVE FROM ONE SEASON TO ANOTHER, I LOVE TO TAKE THIS TIME TO REFLECT ON ALL THAT IS GOOD! Spring brings new life and beauty all around us, and although my children are growing up so quickly, we take this time to celebrate the season, expressing love and joy for all God has done. May you and your family be blessed with peace and happiness during this season of Spring and Easter! Samantha Spain, President Parent Organization Fire, water, longer and warmer days, budding trees and blossoming flowers these all speak to us of rebirth, new life, new beginnings. THIS IS THE WONDER OF EASTER EACH YEAR WHEN JESUS AGAIN IS VICTORIOUS OVER SIN AND DEATH. As our world is burdened by violence and hatred, the experience of the Risen Christ assures us that Life-Peace-Love are the victors! May the Risen Christ be your blessing this Easter! Sr. Katherine Francis Miller, SS.CC., Campus Minister In the gospel reading on Palm Sunday, we learned that three key women who believed in Jesus and were with Him throughout his ministry Mary the mother of James and Joses, Mary Magdalene and Salome were looking on when the veil of the sanctuary was torn in two. AS WE CELEBRATE THIS EASTER WITH OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS, LET US STRIVE TO BE MORE LIKE THESE FAITHFUL WOMEN and seek to be closer to HIM as He leads us to fulness in life through His dying and resurrection. May God continue to bless you and your family this Easter and throughout the year! Brandy Sato, Vice Principal High School

Easter Blessings DURING THIS SEASON OF JOY AND CELEBRATION, MY FAMILY CELEBRATES BOTH PASSOVER AND EASTER since my father is Jewish and my mother is Catholic. Growing up in this diverse family has taught me how Judaism and Christianity go hand-in-hand. Both Passover and Easter celebrate freedom and new life and provide the opportunity for me to spend quality time with my family. Whether it be our Seder mel or while dying eggs, this season also me to strengthen my bonds not only with my immediate ohana, but also with the generations that have come before me. Alana Glaser, Senior IS EASTER, AND I JUST LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR! One of my favorite things about this season is hunting store shelves for the special chocolate treats that I can only get at Easter and hoarding a supply for my loved ones to enjoy. While the candy eggs, bunnies and peeps may seem like just sugary snacks, they all symbolize this period of rebirth and new life. With each bite you take, you are reminded of the ultimate reason behind Easter, the sacrifice Jesus made for our salvation. Be glad and enjoy! Randy Fong, College Counselor EASTER IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TIMES OF THE YEAR because of the many traditions my family celebrates during this season. As a family, we go to church and join the congregation for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. After this, we cook and prepare for a big luncheon at a relative s house, and I get to fill the plastic eggs for the hunt for the children in my family. We pray and thank God for His many blessings. And, we eat together and enjoy each other s company by having fun together as a family. Hunter Kuon, Junior WE SPEND EASTER SURROUNDED BY COLORFUL EGGS, CHOCOLATE TREATS AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE FELLOWSHIP OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS! We celebrate life and all of its blessings! And, to make this day more meaningful to my grandchildren, I always say to them I will give you time to be silent and say a little prayer to God. I believe God loves to see children pray. Let the spirit of Easter fill your hearts with hope, love and overwhelming and abundant joy! Karen Muramoto, Director of Admissions

Easter Blessings WHEN I THINK OF EASTER, WHAT COMES TO MIND IS THAT IT IS NOT JUST A DAY FOR COLORING AND SEARCHING FOR EGGS It is the special day dedicated to remembering the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. All of my family gathers, and we laugh and enjoy a meal of food items we gave up for Lent. We also go on an annual Easter Egg Dive in my aunt s pool. Easter is a happy celebration which brings family together to commemorate hope and rebirth! Aubree Davis, Sophomore EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN PERSONAL AND FAM- ILY TRADITIONS FOR EASTER. The one thing I do each year is attend Mass on Easter Sunday with my mom. We always make time to celebrate the Rising of the Lord! This is very important to remember because Jesus died on the cross to save us for our sins, and we should take time out of our day to commemorate this victorious and selfless act! Mia Aczon, Freshman FOR ME, EASTER IS VERY NOSTALGIC. It brings back many wonderful memories of with my sister. Until I was nine-years-old, my mom would hide eggs for us. I remember scrambling around our backyard trying to find as many as I could. Finding these Easter eggs was more than just a hunt inside each were numbers we could exchange for prizes, such as clothes, board games and books. I think of all the fun we had whenever Easter came around, and it brings back truly fond memories of when I was younger. What a special time! Kammi Nguyen, Grade Eight EASTER IS A TIME I REFLECT ON THE INFINITE POWER AND LOVE OF GOD. Celebrating His Resurrection brings me hope that we, too, will rise and live with our God forever. Every year, we commemorate Easter as a family by going to Mass and then partaking of a delicious Easter meal. This year is extra special because we want to prepare this meal at our home. My husband and I pray that our son, Zion Blaise, will grow up knowing and loving God and that he enjoys our special family traditions. Anna Miyashiro, Junior High Counselor

Easter Blessings THIS EASTER, I PRAY FOR PEACE, SAFETY AND FREEDOM FROM VIOLENCE in our society. I am saddened during this tumultuous time by the rash of school shootings taking place repeatedly. However, I am hopeful because I have never seen such power and persuasion coming from our youth who are assembling en masse to make the world better. As their educators, they truly make us proud and more determined to continue our efforts. Remee Tam, Vice Principal-Lower School EASTER ISN T JUST ABOUT CANDY AND THE EXCITEMENT OF AN EASTER EGG HUNT IT S A CELEBRATION OF JESUS! The true meaning of Easter is the Resurrection of Jesus. He died so we are forgiven for our sins. My family still decorates eggs and gathers for a delicious meal, but we don t forget that is the day He rose from His tomb to bring us salvation. Grace Chang, President-Lower School Student Council ON EASTER, MY MOM AND I GO TO THE BOOKSTORE TO BUY SOME EASTER BOOKS. And, she always cooks a special meal for us on Easter or we go to a special party. Easter is a time to have fun and be creative and enjoy spending time with those you love. I just know my Easter will be awesome since my mom makes it happy and special. My mom is so great to me, not just on Easter, but every day! Riu Kang, Grade Two I LOVE EASTER BECAUSE WE GET TO HUNT FOR EASTER EGGS AT MY HOUSE! These eggs are special and always have goodies inside. My favorites are the candy! I also have a good meal with my mom and dad. Martina Sernadilla, Senior Kindergarten
