The Albanac 4 Maundy Thursday If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you too ought to wash one another s feet. For I have given you an example you should do just as I have done for you. I tell you the solemn truth, the slave is not greater than his master, nor is the one who is sent as a messenger greater than the one who sent him. The Albanac 10 Billie s Corner Christ is risen! And his resurrection is not a one-day event. How could we possibly contain the celebration of the Feast of the Resurrection in a twenty-four hour period? No the church gives us fifty days to celebrate, from Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday. Essential to remember is that Christ gives us our earthly lives and all eternity to celebrate resurrection to experience resurrection to be resurrected from the dead again and again. Can I offer you a logical explanation for the resurrection? I can t. But I can say that I know what it is to have my world fall apart, to sink into the shadow of death and to lose sight of hope. And, I am certain everyone reading this has experienced such grief or will at some point in their life. Resurrection transforms death into life. Resurrection can happen slowly. It creeps into our shattered lives when we fall in the loving arms of God who knows what it is to suffer loss. The pinhole light of the resurrection begins to shine when we realize that we are not alone. God is made manifest in simple acts of kindness a friend that listens, a prayer that lingers and comforts, a moment of joy that startles us. Jesus died and returned to life so that when we die, we may also experience resurrection. We can feel lifeless when grieving the loss of a loved one the end of a relationship or the pain of betrayal. We can feel as though we have been sealed in a tomb just like Jesus. However, Jesus resurrection is our resurrection, and his resurrection is not limited to an end of time event. Resurrections are ours throughout our lifetime. The gospel stories of Jesus resurrection are lifelines to be savored. When all seemed dead for the apostles, Jesus entered their fears and pain. They failed to recognize him at first. He had to call out their names and let them put their hands on his wounds. Then, he blessed the bread and wine, offered them peace and admonished them not to be afraid. Jesus is calling our names, feeding us bread and wine, showering us with peace and comforting our fears. He is as persistent with us as he was with the apostles. He wants nothing more than to give us resurrected life. Resurrection is not a head thing to be rationalized. Resurrection is a heart thing to be lived. Christ is risen! Alleluia! Billie

Josie s Journal The Albanac 11 Bibles Donated to River City Rescue Mission I recently saw an advertisement from River City Rescue Mission requesting a donation of Bibles. River City Rescue is a Christian based ministry dedicated to helping the homeless and those who are lost to find their way. I called Rev. Ernie and he informed me that he had one-hundred and twenty-five inmates at the mission seeking help. I ordered sixty Bibles from Amazon and placed the St. Alban s label on the inside of every front cover. Theo helped! On Tuesday, March 20, Theo and I delivered the Bibles to the mission. Rev. Robert Sanders was glad to receive the donation and asked that I thank St. Alban s for him. In the spirit of giving, I also want to thank St. Alban s for making it possible for me to fulfill one of my diaconal vow to serve the poor, weak, sick, and lonely. As I was leaving the mission, a man asked, May I have one of those Bibles? The request was the nourishment that my soul needed for the day. Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. (Matthew 25:40) Christ s Peace, Josie Robert Sanders, VP of River City Rescue Mission, accepts donation of Bibles made possible through the Outreach Missions of St. Alban s Church.

The Albanac 12 In Memory Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his servants Psalms 116:13 James Robert Horan Jr. September 12, 1935 March 21, 2018 Married to Sherry Biedenharn Horan on June 4, 1961 For 57 years, James and Sherry lived into their marriage vows: To have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do us part.

A fun trip is planned to Poverty Point Reservoir State Park, Louisiana, on Saturday, April 28 the site of a prehistoric Native American city designated a national historic landmark in 1962. We plan to tour the grounds and museum and have a picnic lunch. Departure time and meeting location will be forthcoming. Families are invited. There will be a signup sheet in the Parish House.
