OLD PATHS BAPTIST CHURCH 1030 S. Highway 3 Northfield, MN 55057 2/6/2017 Sam Adams RE: Nate Marino issue Dear Pastor Adams: NOTE: This letter was received as an attachment to Bro. Cooley's email on 1/28/17, not 2/6/17 This letter regards your requests concerning Nate Marino. I have always honored you and your church, even recommending your church to those who were looking for a church home. Let me assure you that you misjudged me and OPBC. Let me assure you that all actions that were taken by the church as a body were in line with Bible directions for church discipline. OPBC takes church discipline very seriously, realizing that God will judge OPBC for any misapplications of the word of God, to include discipline of a child of God in a manner inconsistent with guidelines in the Bible. I am writing this letter to you to explain what I believe the Bible would have OPBC do in this situation. First, this was a matter of local church discipline. OPBC followed guidelines in the word of God in removing Nate Marino from membership. The facts were that Nate was never a legitimate member of OPBC because his membership was based upon his own false pretenses. Nonetheless, OPBC had admitted him to membership based upon his false testimony. For one thing, he, by his own admission was not saved and church membership is open only to those who are saved. Second, I believe that the Bible would require that I send you full information on Nate if he is requesting membership in your church. In that event, I would have a duty, under God, to make full disclosure. I would honor that duty. Had I been as careful in accepting his request for membership, he would not have been admitted. His last pastor recently, upon request, sent me a letter which revealed that he could not have been accepted. Another pastor also notified us of past problems with Nate. I regret admitting him into church membership without requesting that he provide a recommendation from prior pastor(s). There are some things I can tell you beyond what I have already said. I can do so because Nate published online a letter which was supposedly the letter informing him of his dismissal. OPBC would never have made the letter public, since our hope was not to publicly discredit Nate. Our hope was that Nate and his family would be saved. OPBC members are blocked from seeing that letter. Therefore, I am attaching a copy of the letter of dismissal only because he made public an alleged letter which we sent him. Since we cannot see it, we cannot verify that what he published is valid. I will assure you that all the charges in the letter which I am attaching and which is an unchanged copy of the letter we sent him are accurate. Much more could have been included, but more than enough was included to justify his dismissal from church membership. I would also advise that you carefully examine the video Nate has posted online. He says things that should alert anyone interested in this matter as to his credibility, spiritual status, etc. Since he made it public, I mention one example: She (his wife) did have devils My wife and I had been talking about some things, about people at church, and, after God ripped off the cover of deception about my wife being a false convert, it really showed the reality of some other people at church too. All we talked about was their testimonies, their conversation, a lot of signs and fruits of salvation, and it didn t look good. Thus, he publicly admits that prior to the meeting he requested which resulted in his dismissal from church membership he consulted with his devil possessed wife concerning church matters and the spiritual status of church members. The Bible speaks clearly regarding such matters. Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God (Le. (i.e., Bro. Nate is a devil-possessed witch because he consulted with his devil-possessed wife regarding church matters)
...and Bro. Cooley then consulted with a devil possessed witch (accusation no. 2, next page) regarding church matters and conducted a church discipline meeting on the witch's terms. Which is worse? 19.31). And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people (Le. 20.6). There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer (De. 18.10-11). I would also mention that Nate Marino did have a meeting with men of the church, according to his terms. Nate requested to meet with Pastor Jason Cooley and Aron Marshall only. He wanted no other church members, other than members of his family, at that meeting. They met at the meetinghouse. Once there, Nate told them that he wanted no recordings and that that the meeting was to be held in a van. Since no recording was made of the meeting, he is free to say whatever he wants to the public in general. In a valid court hearing or trial, his motives and testimony would be subject to cross-examination. A skilled lawyer who prepared himself by interviewing all witnesses and reviewing all evidence would totally discredit his testimony. In addition, witnesses could testify and other evidence entered into the record to further support the position of OPBC and reveal the truth about Nate and his false allegations; for example, testimony from OPBC members as well as other pastors. Testimony of the latter would prove that this isn't the first time Nate has tried to split a church and seduce followers after himself by lies and manipulations. But this is a matter for neither the courts nor for public trial since no proper court or public trial can be had. Rather it is a matter of local church discipline that is to be conducted according to Bible guidelines. OPBC, in line with her goal of glorifying and pleasing God, has followed those guidelines. That is all I can tell you now. I believe that going further would be to dishonor the Lord. God gave local churches the responsibility and authority of discipline of members of the church. God is the authority who will deal severely with churches who misuse that authority. OPBC had no intent to make this a public matter. To do so would require disclosure of many facts about the disciplined member. OPBC has no desire to tell the world about Nate Marino. Believe me, the truth about Nate Marino is not a pretty picture, as evidenced which required his dismissal proved to the men of OPBC. Facing the truth about him left me (and the men of OPBC) in much sorrow, grief, and despair. I loved and embraced him and placed my confidence in him for two years. He was very close to me. I, and others in OPBC, are just now beginning to recover from the shock caused by the disclosures which required their duty to remove Nate Marino from membership in OPBC. OLD PATHS BAPTIST CHURCH 1030 S. Highway 3 Northfield, MN 55057 2/14/2017 Nate Marino 1120 Highland Ave. Northfield MN 55057 RE: Excommunication. Dear Nate: NOTE: NOTE: This This page page has been has been included included this in document this document and released with publicly the with expressed the expressed written written permission permission of Nate of Marino Nate Marino With much grief and sorrow, I must inform you that the adult male members of Old Paths Baptist Church in good standing have voted you and all members of your family out of the church. In a meeting held to address concerns about you and your family, two OPBC members served as the primary witnesses and others were lesser witnesses to facts which proved the charges, among which are: (1) Preaching another Jesus not preached by the apostles, receiving another spirit, and another gospel which OPBC has not accepted: Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. (2 Co. 11:1-4) The accusations against you have been attested to by two witnesses, two male members of Old Paths Baptist Church. You know the details since you also were actively engaging those two witnesses. Of course, other related events, statements, and matters were discussed by the men in reaching their decision. (2) Witchcraft. The facts indicate that you are demon possessed and practice witchcraft. (3) Creating discord among the members. The facts prove that you have attempted to sew discord among the brethren. You have made unfounded allegations against many members. Among those include attacks against the salvation of many members of OPBC based upon your alleged superior understanding, not on the word of God as applied to the facts. You have said that you, not the pastor or other members of OPBC, should deal with each of those members in a most unscriptural way, claiming to be a satanic super soldier, and advocating the use of satanic techniques, namely psychological techniques, to address spiritual matters. (4) Attempting to subvert and subverting the efforts of the church. We are instructed: To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus (1 Co. 5:5). May you and your family repent toward God and put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Please do not come on the property used by OPBC as a meetinghouse, the property of Pastor Jason Cooley, or the property of any member of OPBC. This is a criminal trespass warning to you and all members of your family which will be turned over to the civil authorities if violated. Sincerely, OPBC
