Friday 4th January 2013 Winter Reflections Part 2 l ةيوبن لئاسر {Message 4} Lecture by Sister Eman al Obaid www.alhudasisters.wordpress.com Allah subhana wa ta'ala is our Rabb, our Creator our Reformer. He is the only One Who guides, Who guides to the straight path. You have two things which if you hold on to them, you will never be misguided. - Al Qur an - Al Sunnah Nabi sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam What are the fruits of the faith? The more faith you have, the more you will get the fruits of the faith AL AKHLAQ AWUL MUQAM This is the highest in rank. With the firm tree of faith, the fruits of the faith are from different Husn al Khalaq. How was Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam was in his Akhlaq. Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam was the best among the people in his akhlaq. Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam had more belief in Allah subhana wa ta'ala than anyone else. 1

The servant of Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said I never touched the skin of anyone whose skin was as smooth and as soft as the hands of Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam. I didn t smell a smell better than Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam. I served Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam for 10 years, never, never did he say to me uff or say to me why I did something, or even things which I didn t do, he didn t tell me to do them. Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam never spoke anything bad and Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam used to say the best among you is the one having the best akhlaq among you. Akhlaq is very high in rank. This is the akhlaq of Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam. Who are the People Having Akhlaq? They are the best among the people. Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said Among you, the most beloved ones and the ones most closest to me on the Day of Judgement are the people with the best akhlaq. Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam loves them even though he didn t see them, he loves them because of their akhlaq. They will sit near to Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam on the Day of Judgement. It didn t say a praying person or a fasting person but this hadith mentions a person with akhlaq. 2

The people most beloved to Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam are the ones with the best manners. A people with good manners are familiar with the people and the people are familiar with them. The most hated ones to Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam are the ones without akhlaq, the people who are trying to create enmity between the people, people who are trying to separate loved ones, People who are always seeking peoples faults. People with akhlaq are close to Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam - Those who are near to the people because they don t feel they are higher than other people. Bad character I was in one of the gatherings of Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam. Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said Indecency, talking bad is not from Islam. The person with the best akhlaq is ahsan, the best among the people. A person should care about their utterances. Ahsanu the best among the people Previous hadith the best among the people will be with Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam 3

I came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his Companions were sitting as if they had birds on their heads. Nobody talked, then some people came and asked Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam Who among the people is most beloved to Allah? Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said Ahsanum khuluqa. The people with the best manners are the: Most beloved people to Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam Closest people to Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam Most beloved people to Allah subhana wa ta'ala Best among the people Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said Among the people, the best in akhlaq are the most perfect believers. This is the complete believer they have the complete and best faith. How will you distinguish a person with the best manners? Whatever they speak, whatever they think, they are always good with people and when alone - Husn khuluq all the time. When he does something good, he does not want the people to deal with him in the same way as he does the good for the Sake of Allah - he will not be good because someone else is good. They are the most perfect believers. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala increase us in faith and give us husn khuluq. How Allah subhana wa ta'ala perfected us and our features may Allah subhana wa ta'ala perfect our akhlaq. Ameen The Virtues of Husn Khuluq What will a person get who has husn khuluq the recompense. Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said Nothing is more heavier on the scale of the believer on the Day of Judgment than husn khuluq. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will hate a person without the manners. This is the value of husn khuluq on the Day of Judgment, when everyone will be fighting for one hasanat. Nothing is more heavier than husn khuluq. 4

... Narrated AbuUmamah: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: I guarantee a house in the surroundings of Paradise for a man who avoids quarrelling even if he were in the right, a house in the middle of Paradise for a man who avoids lying even if he were joking, and a house in the upper part of Paradise for a man who made his character good.... You will get a house in Paradise, with your akhlaq, with your ibadhat and with your faith not with your money. You will get the highest of ranks with your akhlaq. Somebody asked Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam what did the majority of the dwellers of Paradise do to deserve to be in Paradise? Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said The people of Paradise have taqwa and husn khuluq. The things that will make most people enter Hellfire are the mouth and the private parts. Husn khuluq is something essential and the fruit of your faith. The jannah is the land of peace. Jannah is the place of the good one, so a person needs to deserve to be there. Aisha radi Allahu anhu said I heard Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam say The believer can reach by his husn akhlaq the rank of the praying person and the person who establishes the night prayer. How will a person be who is husn khuluq? Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said For you, you will not win the hearts of the people with your money. What can make people love a person, the face will be happy and with your good akhlaq. People may like you for your money but they will not like you if you don t have the manners. In your heart akhlaq has a high position. 5

Types of akhlaq Aisha radi Allahu anhu said Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said Allah is so gentle and He loves you to be gentle in all your matters, don t be harsh. Be gentle, don t be harsh, you don t need to prove yourself to the people. When you are rafiq you take everything smoothly and easily. Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said Allah subhana wa ta'ala loves the gentleness and Allah subhana wa ta'ala will be pleased with you and Allah subhana wa ta'ala will help you with your gentleness. People think that by being strict and firm, more will be achieved. But actually when you are gentle Allah subhana wa ta'ala will help you in all your affairs. People think with their power and with their voice they can get people listen to them. It is with your akhlaq that people will listen to you. You don t want to complete your affairs because the people are scared of you. The Jews were insulting Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam saying death be upon you. Aisha radi Allahu anhu was harsh back to them saying death be upon you. Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said to Aisha radi Allahu anhu Be gentle, even if the people are against you. If Allah subhana wa ta'ala wills with highest?????. To be good is to have a blessed house, He will make them to be gentle. You don t need to be rude with anybody. To be known as being gentle is better than being known as being harsh. We ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala for the akhlaq that pleases Him. Ameen. Some akhlaq depends on the society or culture but we want the akhlaq which is good in the Eyes of Allah subhana wa ta'ala and in the eyes of Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam. 6

Being gentle and soft is something praiseworthy. Some people are born like that and others are born harsh. Both need to ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala for the akhlaq which is pleasing to Him. A person gentle by nature needs to thank Allah subhana wa ta'ala. A person who is harsh needs to ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala to shower them with the gentleness. Gentleness is a provision from Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Dealing with People with Husn Khuluq Gentleness Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam is advising the sahabah Make people s life easy, not difficult. Always be optimistic, don t make people flee from you. Don t be negative with people, complaining etc. Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said Don t you want me to tell you of a person who will not enter Hellfire? The Hellfire will be forbidden on everyone person who is easy going, soft and gentle. not hasty Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said Not to be judgmental or not to be quick to judge people is from Allah subhana wa ta'ala, to be hasty is from Shaytan in order to cause you to make a mistake. Nobody gives more excuses than Allah subhana wa ta'ala when you make a mistake. Nothing is more beloved to Allah subhana wa ta'ala than the praise. Take one thing at a time. Don t be hasty when dealing with people. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will never hasten the punishment on us. Giving excuses and not being judgmental & hasty, no one can give more excuses than Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Allah subhana wa ta'ala loves the praises. 7

Pardoning Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam narrated One of the messengers was being beaten until he was bleeding. He was wiping the blood from his face and saying May Allah forgive my people for they don t know. Look at this pardoning it is from husn khalaq. You will not get the reward in the dunya, husn khuluq for the Sake of Allah will be rewarded on the Day of Judgment. Husn khuluq is not just an attribute or manner, it is a matter of faith. Gates of Husn Khuluq Don t underestimate the good deed to meet you your bother / sister with a smiling face. Why are you frowning, why are you sad, smile, it will not cost you anything. Different Husn Khuluq... Abu Dharr narrated that the Messenger of Allah said : "Your smiling in the face of your brother is charity, commanding good and forbidding evil is charity, your giving directions to a man lost in the land is charity for you. Your seeing for a man with bad sight is a charity for you, 8

your removal of a rock, a thorn or a bone from the road is charity for you. Your pouring what remains from your bucket into the bucket of your brother is charity for you."(hasan)... Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said Everything you utter, you utter with good A man asked Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam Tell me about something that will make me to go to Paradise. Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said Feed the people and to spread the salaam - the good talk. Jannah will be obligatory on you if you have the following three characteristics: A man asked Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam Tell me about the deeds which will take me to Paradise? Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam replied Feed the people, spread the salaam, pray in the night while the people sleep, you will enter Paradise in peace. You will enter paradise without entering Hell, without the punishment. 9

Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said There is spread among you one disease which spread in the previous nation, the hatred and the jealousy. Hatred is like a shaver, it will shave and cut the deen. Nobody will enter Paradise until they love each other. Nobody will love each other until you spread the salaam. humbleness... Narrated Iyad ibn Himar (al-mujashi'i): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Allah has revealed to me that you must be humble, so that no one oppresses another and boasts over another.... Husn khuluq comes with the heart, with the faith. A man asked Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam Who is the most good among the people? Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam replied The person with a pure heart, and a truthful tongue. Husn khuluq comes with a PURE HEART. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala purify our hearts from all the sicknesses, may Allah subhana wa ta'ala make us to overcome all the weaknesses and sicknesses of our heart. Ameen 10

With your akhlaq it has a high rank and position. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala purify our hearts, may Allah subhana wa ta'ala purify our tongues, purify ourselves and we will have husn khalaq. AlhamduliLlahi rabbil alameen. Ya Rabbi, increase me in guidance and keep me on the way of guidance until the last moment of my life. This is a transcript of a lecture given by Sister Eman al Obaid. We ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and His Mercy. Anything that is good from these notes is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. Any mistakes & misrepresentations are my own. I ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and to put forgiveness in the hearts of those who read them. JazakAllah Khairan. 11
