Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Beta Xi Omega Chapter Newsletter Volume 96, Issue 1 January 8, 2010 Reflections from the Basileus Happy New Year Sorors! This is a new year, a new beginning with new challenges, and we are very excited and happy to be here! In the year 2010, our primary focus must be on "how to have a good year in AKA." Sorors, as your elected chapter leader, we must continue to serve through the values and principles established over a century ago. As members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, we must maintain our commitment to serve. I often hear the phrase "We are not getting paid." You are correct. AKA is a story of dedication to an ideal sustained and cherished over 100 years - "service to all mankind." We must nourish the seeds planted a century ago so that it will blossom achievers in this century of service and extend our services. Although much has been achieved, more needs to be accomplished. A special thank you, as always, to my dear sorors for submission of our annual reports in a timely manner. I am happy to say "they are in the mail." Remember the true meaning of our sisterhood - to work together for the common good of our sorority. Go forth in the year 2010 to make a significant impact in providing service to our community. Again, Happy New Year, and I wish for each of you and your families countless blessings and great prosperity in the year 2010. Sisterly love, Soror Ann Brown In This Issue Reflections from the Basileus...1 Programs...2 Activities & Announcements...3 Meeting Agenda...4 Committees & Hostesses...5 Protocol Tips...6 Birthdays & Anniversaries...6 Courtesies...6 1
