Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Beta Xi Omega Chapter Newsletter Volume 96, Issue 1 January 8, 2010 Reflections from the Basileus Happy New Year Sorors! This is a new year, a new beginning with new challenges, and we are very excited and happy to be here! In the year 2010, our primary focus must be on "how to have a good year in AKA." Sorors, as your elected chapter leader, we must continue to serve through the values and principles established over a century ago. As members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, we must maintain our commitment to serve. I often hear the phrase "We are not getting paid." You are correct. AKA is a story of dedication to an ideal sustained and cherished over 100 years - "service to all mankind." We must nourish the seeds planted a century ago so that it will blossom achievers in this century of service and extend our services. Although much has been achieved, more needs to be accomplished. A special thank you, as always, to my dear sorors for submission of our annual reports in a timely manner. I am happy to say "they are in the mail." Remember the true meaning of our sisterhood - to work together for the common good of our sorority. Go forth in the year 2010 to make a significant impact in providing service to our community. Again, Happy New Year, and I wish for each of you and your families countless blessings and great prosperity in the year 2010.
