Your task is to prepare a testimony that is 3-5 minutes long. Later on, you can find ways to give a longer testimony of 10-20 minutes suitable for larger audiences, and even 30-second testimonies to use within shorter conversations. Warning: Preparing your testimony can lead to some deep thoughts. You might be working on your testimony and discover you have never truly accepted Jesus Christ into your life in a personal way. January 20, 2003 (Sample #1) Aunt Polly 1234 Aladdin Ave. Dayton, OH 65432 Dear Aunt Polly, For many years, several churches in the area have been sending teams of high school students to Mexicali, Mexico during the Easter holiday. This year, my church is traveling with many other churches, through Octane Ministry. This is a ministry organizes trips and events, connecting several churches in the area to go together. I am very excited to be a part of a team from my church this year,. While in Mexico, we will be assigned to a church where we will be offering a daily children s program, women s Bible Studies, and conducting evening services. We have a lot to do to prepare for this trip. We need to learn Spanish songs, work out crafts for the kids, plan lessons, and prepare Bible messages. During our stay in Mexicali, we will be camping for seven days in a field with no electricity or running water (outhouses and not many showers - yecch!) You can check out pictures from last year at Octaneministry.com! The cost to each person for the trip is approximately $1,300: $475 of that being for airfare. I am asking for your help in covering the group s cost. Any contribution will be tax deductible and will help reduce the $1300 per person cost. Dear Friends and Family, (sample #2) It s that time of year again! Mexicali 2016 is well on its way. Here are some things you may want to know Mexicali 2015 What a great year! We had a team at a teenage orphanage, the park site once again, and Refugio, which is assisted living for men with cognitive disabilities. We also added Team Stephen to Octane s responsibilities. This is a team that leads all the missionaries in the city in various service projects through-out the week. This year they focused on making two city parks usable for kids in the community. We were also blessed once again to be able to build a house for a family in Soli. The family is pictured below with the team. Seeing God continually at work has been such an awesome experience. Mexicali 2016 This year, we have so many opportunities to serve! In addition to our leadership training, we have a young adult team, women s ministry team, build team, Team Stephen, and VBS teams that will be going to the orphanage, Refugio, and the Park site. We are focused on sharing God s love through both action and the word, growing in our own relationship with Him, and our leadership skills. Keep up with us While We are Gone! Here are the directions for writing Aunt Polly Letters: Materials: 60 envelopes 60 stamps 30 addresses 30 letters 30 sticky notes 1. Make a list of at least 30 addresses that you are going to send your letters to. 2. Type your Aunt Polly letter. It does not need to be exactly like the sample letter, make it your own. Just make sure that you include the tax information and the directions on how to send it back. 3. Print your Aunt Polly letter 30 times. Change the name and address each time so that each person feels as if they have received a personal letter, not a form letter. STEPS 1-3 MUST BE COMPLETED BY JANUARY 15, 2017. 4. Bring all of your materials to the meeting on January 15, 2017. 5. Take 30 sticky notes and write your name once on each of these. Stick one note on each letter. 6. Take 30 envelopes and address them to Octane Ministry Mexicali Attn: Matt Gratopp c/o Trinity Lutheran Church 45160 Van Dyke Ave Utica, MI 48317 7.
