Adation of the Holy Eucharist Adación de la Eucaristía Santa Here is a folder f prayer both alone and with others in the presence of the Holy Eucharist outside Mass. Here are suggestions f songs, readings from Scripture, praise acclamations, and prayers. This praying may be done with either the Eucharist reserved in the tabernacle exposed on the altar. Eucharist f the Life of the Wld Eucaristía para la Vida del Mundo The celebration of the Eucharist changes each of us and changes the whole assembly who celebrate it. We have the chance, week by week, to celebrate and to become me fully who we are the living body of Christ. In between our liturgical celebrations of the Eucharist, we are drawn into the church to pray quietly in the presence of Jesus in the reserved sacrament. Jesus gives us himself at Mass in his wd, he gives himself as food and drink, he gives us himself in this community of believers. Then, after giving himself so completely to us, he gives us to the wld. The celebration of the Eucharist is done among us Catholics. Me than anything else, it makes us who we are. But the fruits of the Eucharist, the power flowing from the Eucharistic sacrifice, those are meant f the whole wld. We celebrate the truth at Mass: Jesus has died to save us, he is risen from the dead, and he has ascended to the right hand of the Father. That truth is meant f the whole wld. The invitation to follow Jesus in his life, death, and resurrection is meant f all people. It is not a truth that we guard jealously within our little group. We are sent out as witnesses at the end of each Mass. Excerpt from the homily Eucharist f the Life of the Wld by Bishop Gege J. Lucas, part of the series on the Holy Eucharist in the Life of the Church f the Easter Pilgrimages of the Great Jubilee Year 2000. SONG CANTO O Saving Victim / O Salutaris Hostia O Saving Victim, op ning wide The gate of heav n to us below! Our foes press on from ev ry side: Your aid supply, your strength bestow. To your great name be endless praise, Immtal Godhead, One in Three; O grant us endless length of days When our true native land we see. Text: Thomas Aquinas, 1227-1275; trans. by Edward Caswall, 1814-1878, alt. Tune: LM.

Adation of the Holy Eucharist Adación de la Eucaristía Santa page 2 Alleluia! Sing to Jesus Alleluia! sing to Jesus! his the scepter, his the throne; Alleluia! his the triumph, his the victy alone; Hark! the songs of peaceful Zion thunder like a mighty flood; Jesus out of ev ry nation has redeemed us by his blood. Alleluia! not as phans are we left in srow now; Alleluia! he is near us, faith believes, n questions how: Though the cloud from sight received him, when the fty days were o er, Shall our hearts fget his promise, I am with you everme? Alleluia! Bread of Angels, here on earth our food, our stay! Alleluia! here the sinful flee to you from day to day: Intercess, friend of sinners, earth s redeemer, plead f me, Where the songs of all the sinless sweep across the crystal sea. Alleluia! King eternal, you the Ld of lds we own; Alleluia! bn of Mary, earth your footstool, heav n your throne: You, within the veil, have entered, robed in flesh, our great high priest; Here on earth both priest and victim in the eucharistic feast. Text: Revelation 5:9; William C. Dix, 1837-1898. Tune: HYFRYDOL, 8 7 8 7 D; Rowland H. Prichard, 1811-1887. At That First Eucharist At that first Eucharist befe you died, O Ld, you prayed that all be one in you; At this our Eucharist again preside, And in our hearts your law of love renew. Thus may we all one Bread, one Body be; Through this blest Sacrament of Unity. F all your Church, O Ld, we intercede; O make our lack of charity to cease; Draw us the nearer each to each we plead, By drawing all to you, O Prince of Peace. Thus may we all one Bread, one Body be; Through this blest Sacrament of Unity. Text: William H. Turton, 1859-1938, alt. Tune UNDE ET MEMORES, 10 10 10 10 with refrain; William H. Monk, 1823-1889, alt.

SCRIPTURE READING LECTURA DE ESCRITURA Read in the Gospel of John: chapter 6 the bread of life chapters 14-17 the priestly prayer of Christ Read one of these meal sties in the Gospel of Luke: 5:27-39 A great banquet at the house of Levi 7:36-50 A great dinner at the house of Simon the Pharisee 9:10-17 The breaking of the bread in the city of Bethsaida 10:38-42 Hospitality at the home of Martha 11:37-54 A noon meal at the home of a Pharisee 14:1-24 A Sabbath dinner at the home of a leading Pharisee 19:1-10 Hospitality at the house of Zacchaeus 22:7-13 Preparing the Passover 22:14-38 The Passover 24:13-35 The breaking of the bread at Emmaus 24:36-53 With the community in Jerusalem 1 Cinthians 11:23-26 Evening Mass of the Ld s Supper I received from the Ld what I also handed on to you, that the Ld Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread, and, after he had given thanks, broke it and said, This is my body that is f you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. F as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the Ld until he comes.
