Eucharist f the Life of the Wld Eucaristía para la Vida del Mundo The celebration of the Eucharist changes each of us and changes the whole assembly who celebrate it. We have the chance, week by week, to celebrate and to become me fully who we are the living body of Christ. In between our liturgical celebrations of the Eucharist, we are drawn into the church to pray quietly in the presence of Jesus in the reserved sacrament. Jesus gives us himself at Mass in his wd, he gives himself as food and drink, he gives us himself in this community of believers. Then, after giving himself so completely to us, he gives us to the wld. The celebration of the Eucharist is done among us Catholics. Me than anything else, it makes us who we are. But the fruits of the Eucharist, the power flowing from the Eucharistic sacrifice, those are meant f the whole wld. We celebrate the truth at Mass: Jesus has died to save us, he is risen from the dead, and he has ascended to the right hand of the Father. That truth is meant f the whole wld. The invitation to follow Jesus in his life, death, and resurrection is meant f all people. It is not a truth that we guard jealously within our little group. We are sent out as witnesses at the end of each Mass. Excerpt from the homily Eucharist f the Life of the Wld by Bishop Gege J. Lucas, part of the series on the Holy Eucharist in the Life of the Church f the Easter Pilgrimages of the Great Jubilee Year 2000.
