NOVEMBER 2013 Woodbine Baptist Church getting to the point From your pastor By Bro. David So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12 Contact us: 4912 Woodbine Rd. Pace, FL 32571 (850)994-6169 www.woodbinebaptist.org SUNDAY GATHERING TIMES 9:15 Bible Study 10:30 Worship 5:00 Youth discipleship 5:00 Adult Bible study 6:10 Evening worship 7:00 Adult choir Recently I had the opportunity to attend a Ministering to Senior Adult workshop at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS). It is perhaps one of the best classes I have had at the seminary and it was definitely the most practical one so far. With a staggering number of baby boomers entering the senior adults ranks each day Older adults have become the fastest-growing segment of the population in the United States, their numbers out-pacing teenagers for the first time ever. One point that was driven home to me at this workshop is the need to have an intentional focused senior adult ministry in our churches. This ministry must be one that is not only ministering to our seniors, but more importantly it must be a ministry that is flowing from our seniors to each other, the community, and touches all ages groups in the church. The reality is that all of our days are numbered and we must realize that each day is precious in the sight of God and is important because we exchange a day of our life for it. So it must be lived in such a way as to have meaning, purpose, and bring glory to our God until we stand in His presence. Living this way daily is how we gain a heart of wisdom, not just by aging. I am currently putting together a senior adult ministry plan for our church and hope to implement it sometime after the first of the year. For this to work properly and provide a great ministry for our senior adults, it will require that as many of our senior adults as possible participation and help in various areas of this ministry. I am looking forward to what God will do with this much need area of ministry and praying that it will enable those who have a vast amount of life experience and hopefully wisdom to teach our younger people to also number their days and gain a heart of wisdom in the process. This is what the church is supposed to be doing according to Titus 2 and 3. Ministering Together, Bro. David

Church Family, Susie and I would like to humbly thank you our church family for the personal cards and generous gift that was given to us. Words can not express our gratitude to our church family and rest assured that we will be using it for our trip to Japan in March 2014. Thank you for allowing us to minister to you and we love each of you. David and Susie Lewis Family Promise News The family in Family Promise will arrive Sunday, November 3rd. She is a single Mom with three boys with no known allergies. The family will stay in the Education building and this will be our last hosting of families in the program. Our church has voted to step-down form hosting and become a support church. All those who are trained volunteers will, with God's help, transition over to helping First United Methodist Church in Pace and/or helping Immanuel Baptist Church. I will be in contact with their Coordinators to arrange the details of it. The Lord has blessed our church and the families we have shared Jesus with. We hope you will continue to support this great program that helps families stay together, get back on their feet and learn about the love of Christ. It has been an honor serving the Lord with each and everyone of you in our church. We are a loving church who loves the Lord and it shows in all we do to support each other and our community. I look forward to what the Lord has in store for us in the future. May you see God's blessings around you always.
