I approach this process with respect and continued prayer. In the next few weeks we will be putting together teams to work on each recommendation.

May 2014 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Happy Easter!! On March 8, 2014 our congregation received from the Consultant five recommendations to pray and discern God's leading for our congregation. We have held three Town Hall style meetings in order to field questions and continue to be in prayer with one another. This past Sunday, April 27th I am pleased to announce that a Church Conference voted to accept those recommendations as our way forward for the next eighteen months. I approach this process with respect and continued prayer. In the next few weeks we will be putting together teams to work on each recommendation. On Sunday May 4th we will be having a Day of Prayer. This day is designed for our congregation to offer repentance for any and all situations in the congregation that are keeping us from moving forward. The second purpose is to seek healing in any situations where the congregation has experienced pain. The third purpose is to pray that God will give the leaders and the congregation a vision, energy, and strategy for reaching the community in which the church exists. Our next step will be addressing the first recommendation "Lack if Unifying Mission and Vision." As per the Consultation report our Mission is now: "Making Disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world." We will be using this to align all of our ministry activities. We will be holding a congregational wide Vision Retreat on Saturday June 14th from 9am-noon. This retreat will be led by our consultant, The Rev. Aaron Bouwens. I hope you will mark your calendars now to attend this important step in the life of our congregation and our future ministries. ALL ARE INVITED AND WELCOME TO COME LEARN AND HAVE INPUT INTO OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE. The purpose of our time together will be to train leaders and create annual church ministry goals that are aligned with the vision. Please continue to lift our congregation in prayer as we seek God's leading into the future as we seek to make disciples for Jesus Christ. Easter Blessings, Pastor Jennifer 1

Projects include lawn raking, spreading top soil, grading, planting grass seed, spreading straw or peat moss, cleaning flower beds, washing windows, chasing dust bunnies, kitchen fan cleaning, gutter repair, a/c installation and whatever else gets added to the "getterdun list". This event honors those in our congregation who will be 80 years old and over in 2014. Spouses and additional family members are also invited. Invitation letters will be mailed to honorees. Anyone who would like to help with this special event can sign up on the list on the easel in the narthex. Volunteers are invited to enjoy the meal and attend the program that follows. This year s honorees are: Allan & Bernice Blossom Kae Chojnowski Lois DeWitt Betty Everts Margaret Freeman Robert Hall G;proa Ja,, Eleanor Harrington Dorothy Hayward Margaret Hendershot Bill & Sparky Hess Ralph & Nancy Ingraham Bill Kast Mac & Ernie McKenzie Don & Joan Merriam Violet Nundy Lorraine Oakden Beverly Pirnie Leona Roegner Evelyn Seeger Agnes Smally Joan Trenholm Mickey Woodams Ethel Wyant If you would like to attend the luncheon as a guest, or if you are able to help set-up, serve or clean-up, please see Pat Holenbeck or Sue Emerson. 3

Vagabonds May 2, 2014 There is an art Show beginning Friday May 2 that features one of our own. Lois DeWitt is one of the Artists displaying her talent water color painting. I thought we would visit the show with an opening reception and then go to supper. Other artist's with work on display are: ( maybe you will know someone else displaying their talent) M.Wendy Gwirtman, Terry Schwartz, Bea Rosenbloom, Paula Dickson, Ginna Palumbo, Jean O'Brien, Lois Zebelman, Karen DeSantis, Kathy Belly, Ed Bozek, Annmarie Gombatto, Gina Kaufer, Kathy Lindsley, Janis Loehr, Marilyn Mankelbaan, Helen Presberg, and Christine Waara We will gather here at the church at 4 PM, travel to Valley Manor at 1570 East Ave. After enjoying the Celebrating Watercolor we will go to supper. I am open to suggestions but I am thinking of Grandpa Sam's in Spencerport Did you put something in the freezer with out labeling it? Some one did and in fact several some ones did! Who does that food belong too? Who can use it? Without a label it might get thrown out because UMW freezer cleaners don't know how long it have been in there and do not know who to ask if they plan to use it in the near future. I am request is that if you put something in the freezer or refrigerator for that matter please label it. If you bring in milk for an event please take it home with you( or give it to someone who could use it) right after the event, otherwise it sits in the refrigerator and spoils Thanks UMW 4

United Methodist Women In February UMW held the Prayer and Share Shower in support of the Monday morning prayer group. I am happy to report that the shower provided the group with $112 in money and stamps. Thank you for your support for this great service and outreach done by a few faithful volunteers. They are also looking for more of the church family to join them Monday mornings at 9 AM in the church library. April 12 the UMW hosted the annual UMW District Communion Breakfast. My thanks to Pastor Jennifer for leading the service, Pearl Bloom for chairing this event for UMW and Ed Earnhart for being head chef on Saturday morning. A LARGE Thank you to ALL that helped by cleaning the kitchen and dining room before the event, setting up and preparing food on Friday. Thanks also goes to all the ladies who helped with the service. Our thanks also to the men who came and helped in the kitchen, helped serve and then cleanup after. With the help of this small army of volunteers we successfully hosted a meaningful and wonderful event. It was an event that brought out the community of church family that I felt overwhelmed by. We have hosted several of the annual breakfasts and several of us attended many more. This was by far the most meaningful one for me and I hope for those of you who attended There was a different sense of church community and family that I contribute to the evolvement of the church through the Color My World program and now the Hand and Plow. We have been hearing about change I think that Change has progressed farther than we anticipated as of this date. This was truly and memorable event from start to finish. I am glad many of us were there and I am sorry if you missed it. I sincerely hope those who attended came away with a very special feeling for our church family. May 31: UMW is hosting our annual Lilac Luncheon. Sue Emerson and Pat Holenbeck are co-leaders. They will need your help. June 3 : Girls Night Out. We are going to Zappa Bistro, Casey Holenbeck's restaurant for dinner and an evening of gathering of friends (Yes he is Pat and Ed Holenbeck's son). There will be a posting of time to meet at the church and what your choices for dinner will be. All Women of the church are welcome enjoy this evening out. Zappa Bistro is located on Gregory Street off of South Ave in Rochester. Several of us went there after the show the Vagabonds attended at GEVA the food was DELICIOUS. June 15: We will be hosting the Dads and Grads reception for coffee hour. Remember ALL women of Hilton United Methodist Church are members of the UMW even if you don't attend any or all of the meetings, but you are welcome to come the the meeting that are held at the church the first Tuesday of the month at 7 PM. We would love to have you join us as much as you are able. Janet LaBorie 5
