Transcription:

May 2, 2013 Dear Parents, As we begin the month of May, let us look to Mary, as the perfect model for all parents. Although Mary was the mother of Jesus, her life was difficult and her suffering was great. That s why she understands our struggles and sympathizes with our petitions to her. Raising any child is difficult but to be responsible for the Savior must have been overwhelming at times. When Jesus was twelve, he was lost for three days until they found Him in the temple (Luke 2:41-49). It made sense later, but at the time Mary grieved and blamed herself. As the mother of the Savior, Mary knew her child would suffer and that s the most difficult part of parenting. When our children suffer, parents suffer, too. Being prepared didn t make it any easier to watch her Son die. But Mary had complete trust in God. That makes her the perfect model for all parents. As we pray the rosary during May, all students will ask the Blessed Mother to strengthen all parents as they care for the young and old. May God bless their work! Penn Relays 2013 CYO Track at Penn Relays On Tuesday, April 23rd, four teams of Saints Peter and Paul student-athletes were invited to participate in CYO Night as part of one of the more historic track and field events, the Penn Relays. Our Crusader teams traveled down to Franklin Field in Philadelphia and took part in 4x100m relays where each of our teams managed a timed personal best as well as some individual personal 100m bests! In all, 198 area parishes took part in this event, which is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and the Crusader teams shined in front of a crowd of thousands. Coaches, parents, and other student fans made their way to the city via train, and by car, to cheer on our group... thank you for the support! It was truly a memorable night for all who attended!" Store Hours: Sun. 10am-9pm, Mon.-Thurs. 9am-10am, Fri. & Sat. 9am-11pm Why Do Catholics Do That? What is a Eucharistic Minister? The accurate title for a lay person who distributes Holy Communion is Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. The Ordinary Minister of the Eucharist is a priest, deacon, or bishop. A bishop may allow the training and commissioning of suitable lay people as Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist in his diocese when there is a lack of ordinary ministers or when there is a large number of communicants. Reading With Rita s For the past five years, the library has promoted reading by inviting the students to participate in Read With Rita s reading program. The students are encouraged to read by requiring them to complete a total of two hours of reading per week at home or in school. Time is tracked on a personal log and confirmed by the parent and teacher. After completing the required time, the teachers will then validate the log which can be redeemed at the West Chester Rita s location for a free kids size Italian water ice for each week that the students have reached their goal.
