The following were in attendance: Jakie Darling (K6RIX), Dave Haring (K6CJZ), Donald Ocampo (KJ6RXV), Bill Leslie (WA6POK), Russel Alpern (KI6ZMX) and Paul In (KI6EL). Board Reports 1.) a.) President: Dino said that Jamboree on the Air went very well. The booth saw over 160 Scouts and even had a few sign up for the merit badge which will be held in December. The Scouts really didn t care whether they were on HF or VHF, so long as they were able to get on the air. 2.) V.P.: Nothing to report. 3.) Secretary: Nothing to report. 4.) Treasurer: Bill reported that the Savings account has $1,420.18 and the Checking account has $3,817.00. Committee Reports 1.) Membership: Paul said he has finally finished updating the Club s Roster by adding Jackie Darling s email. 2.) Paul also reported the Flyer for Class had been sent to Yolanda, she in return has put the City s Seal on the flyer. 2.) LAACARC: Bill said the meeting went well. They went over a good way of keeping their membership up in the club. Bill also reported on the Hamcon. He said they were originally only going to have a Chicken meals and Veggi meals for vegetarians. There was a discussion on whether there should be Beef as one of the meal options, the Hotel said that meal would be $60 per person. The Ham Convention Committee decided the beef meal would be added on to the menu and will cost $58 and the rest would be covered by the Committee. 3.) Newsletter: Donald reminded everyone to please turn in their articles by the end of the week. 4.) Repeater: Donald reminded the Board that the time needed to be changed on the repeaters so they would be able to link during the net on Wednesday night. Dino promptly called Joe and reminded him about it. 5.) Whittier Disaster Communications: Dave reported the LA County Drill was a Disaster. He said that himself along with Don Rudd, Donald Ocampo and Yolanda were there. The problem was with how the event was handled, there wasn t proper channels set up, people who were communicating had know idea who they were suppose to contact and there was know way to identify the departments that were calling. When the city had to send a message, we had know idea what our station number was, and couldn t find it out. It was later discovered the City of Whittier s stations ID number was 15 and were suppose to report to Pico Rivera. Dave also reported briefly about the new Band Plan. He is waiting to hear back as whether there are any other Frequencies. He will bring them to the up coming meetings for anyone else who is interested in buying more. 2.) Russel called and confirmed our dinner reservations Dian the new manager at Sizzler. Dian was very adamant about there being a $100 deposit. The Club would have to choose between meals that ranged from $14-$20. New Business 1.) Christmas Raffle: It was brought up at the meeting that the Board needed to figure out what to purchase for the Christmas raffle. The board decided this years Raffle will not be like the past raffles where there is a grand prize. Instead everyone will have the opportunity to win something, whether it s coax cable or an antenna. Dino made a motion that $500 be set aside for the raffle. Bill seconded the motion, it was voted on and then passed. In the discussion, Paul mentioned he as a projector and will make every effort to bring it to the Club s General meetings. He said it was just incase we need one again and the Facilities did not have one. Adjournment: The next Board meeting will be held on November 24 th at 7pm. The meeting ended at 8:05pm.
