Do you believe Jesus is the Messiah? Are you willing to obey Him? Why or why not? Jesus Tur ned Water to Wine John 2:1-12 MAIN POINT: JESUS FIRST MIRACLE WAS TO TURN WATER INTO WINE. FOLD One day, Jesus mother, Mary, was at a wedding feast in Cana. Jesus and His disciples were there too. When the wine was all gone, Mary told Jesus, They do not have any more wine. Jesus replied, What does this have to do with Me? My time has not yet come. Jesus knew what was best, so Mary said to the servants, Do whatever He tells you. Now there were six stone water jars at the feast. Jesus told the servants to fill the jars with water. The servants filled the jars to the top. Then Jesus said, Now take some of the water out and give it to the man in charge of the feast. So they did. The man in charge tasted the water that had now turned into wine. He called to the groom and said, Usually the best wine is served first. But you have kept the best for last! This was Jesus first miracle. This miracle showed Jesus glory, and His disciples believed in Him. FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS Why was Jesus able to perform miracles? What did Jesus miracles prove about who He is? Do you think everyone who saw Jesus miracles believed in Him? (See Luke 16:31.) Christ Connection: Jesus performed miracles to help people believe that He is the Messiah, the Son of God. List things God has provided for you. Jesus Provided Bread from Heaven Matthew 14:13-21; Mark 6:30-44; John 6:1-14 MAIN POINT: JESUS FED 5,000 PEOPLE WITH FIVE LOAVES AND TWO FISH. FOLD Jesus and His disciples got into a boat to cross the Sea of Galilee. When Jesus and His disciples got to the shore, the people were already there waiting for them. Jesus saw the crowd and He cared about them because they were like sheep who needed a shepherd. So Jesus taught the people many things about God s kingdom, and He healed people who were sick. By this time, it was late in the day. Jesus disciples came to Him and said, Tell the people to go away to buy themselves something to eat. But Jesus said, They don t need to go away. You give them something to eat. Jesus disciples were confused. We can t feed this many people, they said. Jesus asked them, How many loaves of bread do you have? Go look. Jesus disciple Andrew said, A boy here has five loaves and two fish. Jesus told the disciples to instruct everyone to sit down. Jesus took the five loaves of bread and the two fish. He looked up to heaven, and then He blessed the bread. He broke it into pieces and gave it to the disciples. He also divided up the fish. The disciples passed out the food to the people, and everyone ate until they were full. The disciples collected 12 baskets full of pieces of bread and fish. Jesus fed about five thousand men that day, plus women and children. FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS How did Jesus feel about the crowds that followed Him? (See Mark 6:34.) What do you do when you see people in need? How did God provide for our greatest need to be saved from sin? Christ Connection: By feeding the five thousand, Jesus provided for the physical needs of the crowd. The next day, Jesus called Himself the bread of life. (John 6:35) Only Jesus is able to satisfy our souls forever by providing forgiveness, friendship with God, and eternal life. 15

Write things you know to be true about Jesus. How can knowing these things about Jesus help you trust Him? Jesus Walked on Water Matthew 14:22-33 MAIN POINT: JESUS WALKED ON THE SEA. FOLD Jesus had been teaching crowds of people by the Sea of Galilee. It was getting late, so He told His disciples to get into the boat and go to the other side of the sea. Around three in the morning, Jesus came toward His disciples, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw Jesus, they were terrified. Right away, Jesus spoke to them. Have courage! It s Me. Do not be afraid. Peter answered, Lord, if it really is You, tell me to come to You on the water. So Jesus said, Come! Peter got out of the boat and started walking on the water toward Jesus. But when Peter saw how strongly the wind was blowing, he was afraid. Peter began to sink. Lord, save me! he cried. Jesus reached out His hand and grabbed Peter. They got into the boat and the wind stopped. Then everyone in the boat worshiped Jesus and said, Truly You are the Son of God. FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS Why did Peter step out of the boat? What caused Peter to sink? What did Jesus do when Peter called out for help? How can we call out to Jesus today? Christ Connection: Jesus proved that He can be trusted. His miracles, teaching, death, and resurrection showed that He is who He says He is. Only Jesus can save us when we look to Him in faith. 17
