To glorify God and love others through worship, study, and service. June 25, 2017 James A. Cason Senior Pastor Scott Harris Associate Pastor Worship Services: Sunday School: Sanctuary: Fellowship Hall: Classrooms: 8:30AM & 11:00AM 9:01AM & 11:00AM 10:00AM Don t Forget Next Sunday s Worship Schedule Change Sunday, July 2 No Sunday School Contemporary Worship at 10AM in the Fellowship Hall Traditional Worship at 11AM in the Sanctuary No 8:30, 9:01 or REVIVE services Prayers for Our Nation and Our World Last Sunday, I invited those attending the 8:30 and 11AM Traditional Services to come to the altar to pray for our country. It was a good feeling to watch many of you come forward. I am inviting us to spend the month of July in daily prayer for our country. In Psalm 51, after Nathan the prophet confronted King David who had committed adultery with Bathsheba and had her husband killed on the front line of battle, David responded by praying Create in me, Oh God, a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. He did not blame anyone else. The lack of civil discourse is at an all-time low. Democrats blame Republicans; Republicans blame Democrats. What if each of us took personal responsibility for our actions instead of blaming someone else? The following is a list of suggestions I hope many of you will follow during July: Spend 5 minutes each day in prayer. Pray for President Trump, all of the members of Congress, and every elected official. Confess to God our sins. Take a break from posting anything negative about politics on social media. Nobody changes anyone s mind with ugly mean-spirited rhetoric. Abstain (fast) from one meal each week and use that time to pray. Listen to someone who disagrees with you. Try not to interrupt them with your opinion. Pray that each of us will become a peacemaker who brings the light of the love of Jesus into every situation In II Chronicles 7:14, we find these words: If my people, who are called by my name will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Those words are just as true today as when they were written. May our leaders, our country, our church, and we, as individuals experience forgiveness and healing. - Pastor Jimmy Sunday, June 25, 2017 8:30, 9:01 & 11:00AM Traditional - Rev.
