Independence After Hours Take a journey back in time and walk the cobblestone streets of Philadelphia on the eve of July 4, 1776. No trip to Historic Philadelphia would be complete without a visit to the home of America s most famous flag maker. Meet Betsy in person in her upholstery shop and learn about her fascinating life and career. You ll learn about Betsy s undercover activities, her family life, and of course the iconic flag-sewing story. Convenient location available for bus drop-off and pick-up. HISTORIC THREADS: 250 YEARS OF FLAG MAKING IN PHILADELPHIA This new exhibit explores the rich history of flag making in Philadelphia, from 13-star flags stitched in 1776 to Presidential flags hand-embroidered today. Betsy Ross House Group Programs Colonial Chocolate Making Meet an 18th-century chocolate maker and learn about the history of chocolate in colonial Philadelphia. The demonstration features techniques that were used in the 18th century and includes a sample of American Heritage hot chocolate drink, inspired by a colonial recipe.
