Highlights from Horizons By What an awesome week that our youth group had at the Horizons camp. The camp is conducted and housed on the campus of Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, TN. F ifte e n o f u s h a d th e p riv ile g e o f a tte n d in g, a lo n g w ith over one thousand other Christians. This great event will celebrate its 3 0 th birthday next year. The camp s theme this year was, Wonderful, Merciful Savior. Each day during our worship times we focused on various aspects of Christ s character, teachings and His ability to change lives that come in contact with Him. This year a new element was added to the schedule that will, no doubt, prove to be life-changing for many. The campers were given the opportunity to use their small amount of free time to participate in one of several service projects that took place. Some of the many projects that were conducted were scraping and painting a house, writing cards of encouragement, collecting food for the needy and visiting nursing homes. Many souls were touched by the acts of service that our youth participated in. In the afternoons, our young men were given specialized training in various aspects of the worship assembly while our young ladies were treated to leadership classes of their own. Each and every one of our youth participated and excelled at the various challenges that were set before them. As always, you would have and should be proud of our youth! They are an active group that love one another and enjoy being together. As the summers seem to get shorter and shorter, our youth seem to get more and more active. I get encouraged about the future of the Church every time we take one of these trips (and so should you).
