ORDER OF WORSHIP FEBRUARY 11, 2018 Prelude "In The Storm" Duncan Petersen-Jones Duncan Petersen-Jones, bagpipes Carol Introit (10:30 a.m.) "We Come With Joy" John Erickson Carol Choir, directed by Elizabeth Reed Welcome to The Peoples Church! Rev. Andrew Pomerville Worship is both personal and communal, formal and informal, intimate and casual. Here at The Peoples Church, we recognize that people come to worship God in both joy and pain, faith and doubt, with laughter and with tears. Our worship tries to reflect a desire both for meditation and celebration. Please know you are invited to participate in any and all ways you feel led. Our songs, prayers, words and actions are the works of imperfect people trying to worship a perfect God. Transfiguration Call to Worship (Mark 9) Leader: We do not know what to say, People: For we are afraid. Leader: But a cloud overshadows us, People: And a voice comes to us Leader: "This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!" Lord, we listen today! Procession of the Light of Christ Anna Harvey and Maya Canady Gathering Hymn "Lord, the Light of Your Love is Shining" No. 192 Prayer for Transfiguration O God, we open our eyes and we see Jesus, the months of ministry transfigured to a beam of light, the light of the world, your light. May your light shine upon us. We open our eyes and we see Peter's constructions, his best plans, our best plans, our missing the point, our missing the way. Forgive our foolishness and sin. We open our eyes and we see Jesus, not casting us off, but leading us down, leading us out to ministry, to people. Your love endures forever. We open our ears and we hear your voice, 'This is my beloved Son, listen to him!' And we give you thanks. Amen.

Song of Response "Seek Ye First" (verse 1) No. 175 Prayers of the People & The Lord's Prayer (During the pastoral prayer there will be a time to offer prayers of joy and concern, voiced aloud or silently for and on behalf of others) Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. Carol Choir "This Little Light of Mine" arr. David T. Clydesdale Children's Moment (10:30 a.m.) Rev.
