The Ensign Zarahemla Branch The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints September 2008 Pastor s Corner Elder Bob Moore Pastor s Corner continued from August 2008 Issue Of course, any Restoration Branch is free to decide what it wants to do in a business meeting. It has a right to accept a motion that removes any person s membership in the branch, but in doing so, it witnesses that it is a violator of church law, usurping for itself duties and privileges belonging elsewhere. Perhaps this is one inherent weakness of the Independent Restoration Branch movement, one that requires vigilance and diligence in avoiding. With no church government above the branch, Restoration Branches in legislative conference can assume the duties and responsibilities that belong to the executive and judicial arms of the church. This seizure is just as dangerous and odious as any usurpation by ambitious leaders. Just as ambitious leaders can create a faction of the church and use it to mislead the saints, errant branches that assume duties outside their purview, especially by violating either church law or the scriptures as contained in the Bible, Book of Mormon, or Doctrine and Covenants, become a faction of the church. Branches that allow consideration of a motion to remove any person s membership become factional branches of the church. They step outside God s will and transgress the decision of a duly-authorized and divinely-appointed church council. By violating both church law and the scriptures they become unlawful entities that institutionalize improper procedures. In this case, the illicit procedure inhibits the full application of the Savior s gospel by curtailing reconciliation. Under this procedure the differences between members cannot be resolved nearly as well and the diabolical possibility that members become accusers of the brethren is greatly increased. If Restoration Branches that do not participate in the General Conference choose to remove from their rolls any of their members who favor the Conference, then they become factional branches. Then, the only legitimate branches of the church will be those that participate in the General Conference.
Eden Eden was still. Silently stood all the animals in the darkling wood. It was not twilight nor evening. But dark it was in morning; and excitement trembling deep was upon the beasts every one. For Adam very curiously fell asleep; and Adam slept not at all again, until the Fall. On God s shoulder the lax Man was steadfastly carried From Eden down to Moriah s hill and there the slumbering Adam, lifted up, was made fast to the round rough bole of the Tree called Knowledge. He spread Adam s long arms wide Securely, his legs were tied. Adam had no blade to cut animal skin. He did not know of blood within. There was no tool to kill. Eden had no forge, no mill, for smelting stone no ore, even glass was unmelted and unblown. Blades were yet unmade. So God spoke the Word of aweful power making His Spirit, a shining Sword, By His Word at last He grasped the shining Sword and the two edged blade made in Adam s chest a hole. While God still stood near Adam dreamed uneasily. He felt the loss of his power, For it was the ninth hour. And even the earth shook in sudden fear. When He pierced Adam s side. Adam groaned dimly in pain Why had the Father forsaken him? Beaded with the dew, the Tree also glistened red with Adam s fresh blood. From his heart Human life slowly bled Water and blood spilled a stream of Adamic life. That the tree drank greedily. The transmogrified tree bruited its ruined fruit noisily among the other garden trees. The rib and bone were unwound and re-spun by God s hand to fill full the human plan. But it was not done in mere hours, For God worked three days, and three nights too, as Adam s rib grew. The Woman awoke in a bed of Eden s holy flowers. She did not see the water and blood, nor sense the pain that had spoiled the Tree Where Adam still slept. She never did see Where God himself wept, as He worked those many hours. She arose, and spoke to Adam, wiping from his face the drops of sweat the tears of forgotten pain. She thought them dew or rain but not the earnest, down payment, for the price of the Adamic race.
