The Oasis Story A remarkable story of the Grace, Goodness and Provision of God The Oasis Christian Resource & Holiday Centre Ysguborwen Road, Dwygyfylchi Conwy, North Wales LL34 6PS Tel: 0845 2267027 Email: mail@igo.org.uk Web-site: www.igo.org.uk

CHAPTER ONE THE OASIS - A PLACE OF REFRESHING, ENCOURAGEMENT & CHALLENGE PROVIDED BY GOD & DEDICATED TO HIS GLORY - a very brief insight into the story so far In May 1996, a Christian friend was visiting us for the launch of Kingsley Armstrong s Joshua Project and was attracted, by the Lord, to a large derelict property called the Puffin Hotel. It was located on three and a half acres of prime land, just off the A55 Expressway, in a lovely location on the North Wales coastline set between the sea and the mountains and overlooking Anglesey, Puffin Island, and the Great Orme in Llandudno. We prayed, at his request, on the actual grounds of the Hotel and the presence of the Lord was awesome, with a mighty anointing coming on all those present. The Spirit of the Lord spoke very clearly and directly into the situation and confirmed that this was God's direction and that He wanted to use this building for His work and His Glory. He also said something quite staggering - that as we saw the place in the natural, totally broken down, derelict, with 52 broken windows, great holes in the roof, all the fixtures and fittings either ripped out or smashed, walls and ceilings damaged, so He saw His Church in the region. As in the natural, so in the spiritual. But He said that the building would be restored and so would His Church. When He moved, He would do a quick work! The previous year, planning permission had been granted for the premises to be converted and extended to become a 30 bedroomed express-way Motel, but no-one had bought it! FORWARD IN FAITH As we all prayed, our friend felt the Lord gave him a definite figure that we should offer, in faith, for the property and it was tens of thousands of pounds less than the original asking price! However, the figure God gave him was amazingly accepted over the telephone and we were given permission to start work on restoring the building with immediate effect! (A couple of days after the purchase was agreed, developers tried to buy it.)we had accumulated a few thousand pounds in our building fund, but that was small change compared with the need! However, the Lord provided, in a wonderful way, the remainder of the finance we needed to complete the purchase. On 10th of July 1996 we had to be out of our old building and we

moved our meetings to the new Oasis - even though it was extremely derelict, and sometimes meetings finished in the dark as we had no electricity! (or gas! - or water!!!) CHAPTER TWO THE YEAR OF JUBILEE Later that year, three of the local leadership team went on God's business to the far North of Scotland and during that time they read a book, published by the Penmaenmawr Historical Society. One of the chapters in the book turned out to be on the history of the Puffin Hotel. Apparently, it was built as Church property, and remained so until 1946, when it was sold and converted into a Hotel and restaurant and renamed 'the Puffin Hotel'. The author, finishes off the chapter with '...The ecclesiastical link was finally broken. Well, the Lord led us to think about the Jubilee year in the Old Testament. God placed a system into motion that would preserve His people and would stop the rich getting too rich at the expense of the poor. Therefore on the 50th year, all property had to revert to its original ownership. In 1946 the Puffin was bought as a Hotel: in 1996, exactly 50 years later, God declared that it had to go back to His people. An interesting thing is that Leviticus 25 mentions the 10th day of the 7th Month!!!! Another interesting thing, is that the mountain directly behind the building is known locally as Jubilee Mountain. The year of Jubilee started at the close of the Day of Atonement and trumpets were sounded throughout the land. It signalled the year of the Lord's favour, that God was a good God, that He had come to heal the broken hearted, to set the captives free, to bring comfort to those who mourn, to bring praise instead of despair, to bring joy and salvation and recovery of sight to the blind, to bring an acknowledgement that all belongs to the Lord. This was broadcast throughout the whole land So we are indeed excited about what God is going to do in and through this place. Read about all of this in Leviticus 25, Isaiah 61 & Luke 4:18-19.-it is remarkable. Within a few months, all the windows were replaced and the roof was repaired God had again provided!

RENOVATION TIME We were told by all sorts of local people that this Hotel used to be one of the best in the area and people came to have their wedding photos taken here, because of its lovely setting. Peacocks roamed the grounds. There was a ballroom extension on the side, which became our number one priority for renovation and it soon became our meeting place & main function room. This hall was eventually fully restored, along with a dining area and a temporary kitchen and good work was also accomplished on the entrance. A wonderful time of celebration, led by David Greenow from Northern Ireland (the IGO President) and attended by visitors from near and far, was held on 28th September 1996, when that first renewed part of the building was dedicated to the Lord CHAPTER THREE OH NO! - DRY ROT Following this, we were progressing nicely when DRY ROT was discovered! On close investigation this proved very extensive and many thousands of pounds were required to put it right. It was eventually done and fully paid for! Then on Christmas Eve 1997 storms damaged the roof quite badly and also blew down a chalet we had at the rear. Again the Lord miraculously provided. We then finally got the ground and first floors fully restored and functioning, praise the Lord! - Then in November 1999 there came a major recurrence of dry rot! - but God is MUCH BIGGER than the problems and all this was taken care of during the next few months - including the redecorating! God has sent occasional folk to help with the restoration work over the years and this is still ongoing. Some work was voluntary, but it was mostly paid for and we are very grateful to every one of those who put their hearts into this tremendous project - but we are especially grateful to the Lord for the wonderful way that He has continued to meet every need. Then the basement, the top floor area and other facilities including the guest rooms were completed and are now well established and we are trusting God for the grounds to be fully landscaped and the large car park re-surfaced. We have in recent times re-designed the meeting hall, removing a large central pillar and thus increasing the capacity,

providing a new enclosed entrance with a ramp suitable for disabled people, with wheel-chair access, and also providing disabled toilet and washroom facilities. The Oasis cottage in the grounds was totally refurbished in 2003 and is already proving to be a very popular retreat for visitors & holiday-makers. PRAYER & BRIDGE BUILDING On Monday mornings, the staff get together for a prayer session to give God thanks and to commit to Him the coming week. Such meetings also take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The over all vision is for the Oasis to be a Christian Resource Centre for the whole Body of Christ and there is a coming together of a number of visions in the Centre. There is a Fellowship - a resource for the area, the headquarters & administration offices of International Gospel Outreach, which incorporates North Wales Gospel Outreach, an emergency prayer line, various Revival weekends under the auspices of IGO. The Nehemiah Bible Training Centre is a permanently available Bible training correspondence course of which John Levy (a founder member of IGO) is Principal, and the courses go out to hundreds of students all over the world, wherever it is requested, anywhere in the world (this can now be conducted by e-mail), united Churches Bible Studies and fellowship evenings, where most of the time several local Churches have been involved with us and through which a good number of people have found new life and healing through the Lord Jesus, regular mid-week retreats and seminars, a substantial Christian Book and gift area. Arthur Burt and the Glory Folk, each have regular residential conventions at the Centre, David Hathaway & the eurovision Team have been coming every year for some time and George Hamilton IV has also visited on a number of occasions and lots of prayer events and ministers' meetings. Other activities and uses of the Centre, such as small specialised Conferences (up to 30 people can be accommodated) individual & family holidays -self-catering (a colour brochure is available on request). Away days for Church Leadership Groups and such like, are constantly developing. Main meals can sometimes be provided for these and for Seminars and small Conferences only. We thank God for the wonderful feedback we have had from hundreds of guests from around the world who have been blessed and encouraged. It is so quiet, peaceful and beautiful and is open to all Christians who need a lovely holiday, or to get away with the Lord and relax a while. Truly an OASIS!

IN CONCLUSION - RUNNING WITH THE VISION! We currently have four administration offices here which are very busy and our resident team members are totally committed to the work. We believe that there are others that God is calling to get involved here in the work in very specific ways, and we are expecting that He will continue to unfold His purposes in this respect over the coming days. There have been a lot of prophecies about revival in this area over many years and we are certainly believing for a major move of God. We have had some very precious words from the Lord and are 'treasuring them in our hearts', believing that it will be 'even as the Lord told us'. We are already well using the Oasis to run with the various visions that God has given us, as specified earlier and this requires ongoing miracles of provision. We believe that God is going to use this strategic place in His end time world missions and discipling programme. To help further this, just a few years ago, the Lord provided an extension, which includes four extra en-suite guest bedrooms and disabled persons facilities linked to the main building and a three bedroomed holiday bungalow with a conservatory and its own garden. The landscaping of the large grounds is a real need, but it is a massive undertaking. So far, a secret garden has been made, where people can get away, very privately, and enjoy a relax in the sun (assuming it is shining!!!) In October 2010, work started on an extension to the Meeting Room, together with a new entrance and ramp, and an outside patio area. The work was completed, fully paid for, some six months later. Volunteer skilled & semi-skilled workers to help with specific tasks, such as decorating, small repairs and gardening are always greatly appreciated. We operate by faith and have a wonderful Lord who has never failed us once.
