Kethara Gowri Viratham ends on Thursday 19 October 2017 Kethara Gowri viratam is observed for twenty one days starting from Shukla Paksha Ashtami(Eighth moon day in its growing phase) in the month of Puratasi (mid Sep to mid Oct). The final day also should be observed in great devotion. Shakti(Goddess Gowri) wanted to become part of Lord Shiva s body. She observed the Kethara Viratam, one of Gods favorite viratas. Pleased by Her austerities God gave the left part of His body to shakti and became Arthanareeswarar. The viratham is then called Kethara Gowri Viratham since Goddess Gowri observed it.
