Page 1 THE GIFTS AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT This class is designed to guide participants through a study of the particular Scriptures which introduce and describe the work of the Holy Spirit with an emphasis on the beginning and growth of the Church. We will research the gifts of the Spirit described in the writings of the Apostles Peter and Paul and then work together to confirm the particular gifts that our Lord has given each of us.. Instructor - Dan Schar Dan currently serves as an elder for Camarillo Community Church while working as a middle school principal in the Los Angeles School District. Previously, he taught at Tyndale and Judson Colleges, Christian colleges in Detroit and Chicago. He has served as a minister of Christian Education in churches in the Midwest and California. Youth for Christ and Taylor University provided him with his initial training for Christian ministry. Since then he has completed programs at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago and Fuller Seminary in Pasadena. Date: Wed., 9/21 11/16 Duration: 9 weeks Cost: $18

Focus on the Family s Truth Project (Part I) The Truth Project is a DVD-based small group curriculum comprised of 13 weeks of video lessons, which will be presented in 7 weeks this quarter (Fall 2011) and 6 weeks in the Winter 2011 quarter. It is taught by Dr. Del Tackett, instructor of Christian Worldview at the Focus Leadership Institute. This study is the starting point for looking at life from a biblical perspective. Each lesson discusses in great detail the relevance and importance of living the Christian worldview in daily life. 1- Veritology: What Is Truth? 2 - Philosophy & Ethics: Says Who? Date: Wed., 9/21 11/2 3 - Anthropology: Who Is Man? 4 - Theology: Who Is God? 5 - Part 1- Science: What Is True? Duration: 7 weeks 5 - Part 2 - Science: What Is True? 6- History: Who's Story? Cost: $14 Instructors - Mason & Heather Paulec Mason & Heather have been married for six years and have two children, Caitlyn (2) and Cooper (1). They lead a small group of young married couples in their home on Tuesday nights and took them through the Truth Project in 2008. Mason has attended a few classes at Fuller Seminary, but works full time for the US Navy, part time for a company called Crime Point, and uses every other spare minute to work on their new home bought in 2009. Heather is a stay-at-home mom, but works part time teaching piano lessons, as well as a bookkeeper for her dad's business, Gillaspy Associates, Inc.. They are often seen playing an instrument or leading worship on Sunday mornings!

Growing in Grace Page 3 Resisting Today s Pressures (Part I) A Study in Daniel by Beth Moore This is a faith-building study of prophecy and learning how to live with integrity in today's selfabsorbed society. The prophet Daniel faced unbelievable pressures to compromise his faith, to live in a hostile culture, and to confront temptations and threats. Today, believers in Jesus Christ face many of the same trials. This Beth Moore video presentation is open to everyone. It will be presented in two 6-week studies. This quarter we will cover Daniel chapters 1-6. Sign up for the winter quarter to study Daniel, chapters 7-12. The purchase price of the required workbook is included in the cost of the class. If you attend both sessions the price of the workbook will be deducted from the cost of the winter class. Instructor - Juli Peterson Juli is married to John Peterson and they have five children. She has attended Camarillo Community Church for seven years, serving on the women s ministry board, mentor mom at MOPS, Jehovah Jireh Food Pantry, and Awana leader. She loves to cook, bake, read, garden, travel, and play with her grandkids. She asked Jesus to be her Savior when she was eight and rededicated her life at fourteen. Her life verse is Romans 8:28. That could mean getting baptized, committing to digging into the Bible each day, discovering how God wants to use you to help others, or just learning more about God s plan for your life. Each CLASS at Camarillo Community Church teaches about one of those next steps. The following CLASSES will be done consecutively, (one after the other), in this nine week period beginning September 21, 2011. CLASS 101 This basic introduction to our church family is designed to clearly explain who and what our church is. You ll learn about our beliefs on salvation, our statements of purpose, and our church s strategy and structure. You ll also hear about the history of our church, how the five biblical purposes are necessary to fulfilling God s calling for your life, and the plans for the future of our church. At the end of class, you ll be given the opportunity to decide whether to complete the membership process by filling out and signing the membership covenant. Pastor Ralph will lead Part I and Pastor Daryl will lead Part II WED. 9/21-09/28 6:30-8:00 pm CLASS 201 Do you want to become more like Jesus? Class 201 will help you develop the habits you need to jump-start your spiritual growth. It will give you an overview of the three basic spiritual habits every Christian needs in order to grow: daily time with God (prayer and Bible study), giving, and fellowship. He moved his family to Camarillo to be a part of this church in 1984. He married his wife Gloria 40 years ago this May (2011) They have 2 sons and 3 grandchildren. He has a passion for people to become connected to God and this church family. CLASS 301 Did you know that God created you with special gifts intended for his purposes? Jesus as Second Adam The Humanity of Christ The first Adam totally failed at being God s man to rule God s new earthly kingdom, bringing down to destruction both man and the world. But God also had a plan for restoration for rescuing everything that was lost through disobedience. In this class we will discover exactly what was lost in Adam s fall and what was regained by Jesus birth, walk, death, and resurrection and how we can change from identification with the first Adam to our full identification in Christ, the second, or last Adam. Instructor - Bernice Smith Bernice Smith has been a member of CCC since 1967. She is the wife of former elder Bill J. Smith. Together they have four grown children as well as grand and great grand children. She has decades of experience leading different ministries and teaching Bible studies to all age groups. Her passions are studying the Bible, traveling,, reading,, cooking, and socializing. Growing in Grace... Page 7 Exodus of God s Chosen People The Exodus is the heart and soul of the Torah; the five books of Moses known to us as the Pentateuch. We will follow the path of the Hebrews from the land of Egypt through the Sinai wilderness to the Promised Land. There is much to be learned from their mistakes on their journey. We will be showing 2 videos a night and this will be an experience you will never forget. Come and join us! Instructor - Bill J. Smith Bill has completed college level courses in speech, spent four-plus years in Toastmaster (1year as president), lectured and demonstrated military aircrews (Air Force and Navy) in the use of flying equipment and survival training (conducted operation Shark Bait off the coast of Point Mugu NAS). Bill has lead home Bible studies for the past 50 years and has taught adult Sunday School classes intermittently over the past 50 plus years, mostly on military installations. He completed Basic Bible Course and Scofield Bible Course from Moody Bible Institute, two semesters of Koine Greek, and engages in an ongoing self-study of Biblical Hebrew. Page 8 Rooted in Truth... Building Positive Relationships A Workshop for Women Our purpose in this life is to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ our Savior. We are then to be an example of God in our relationships with others. This is not always easy. But, God tells us in II Peter 1:3 that He has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness in His Word. In this workshop for women, we will explore the Bible for the answers to building positive relationships with the real and/or fictional relationship scenarios you bring to class. Granberry Linda has taught the Bible to children on Sundays and at Awana for many years and has recently taught two classes for women at our Discipleship Institute. With a desire to be changed by God s Word and be a good steward of her spiritual gift of teaching, Linda studies the Bible daily, has attended Small Group Bible studies, and has earned over 60 class credits at Channel Islands Bible College & Seminary, including five semesters of New Testament Koine Greek. She has also received a Certification as a Biblical Counselor. Cost: $18
