SECOND MILE FOR DECEMBER Bethany Children s Home Founded in 1863, Bethany Children s Home is a non-profit residential home for children related to the United Church of Christ and located in Womelsdorf, PA. There are many programs available at Bethany. They provide long term treatment for a co-ed population ranging in age from 6 to 18. There is a maximum capacity for 104 residing in nine cottages. Also available is a short term treatment program (90 days), and a shelter care program for children in crisis (30 days). Of course, there is a counseling ministry available to all residents and their families. To provide the high level of care required for Bethany, the support of outside contributions is essential. Much time, energy, and money is needed. Please be generous with your support for this month s Second Mile offering. If you care to know more about Bethany Children s Home, go online at www.bethanyhome.org. 2011 CHRISTMAS FUND OFFERING DECEMBER 18 TH The Christmas Fund offering (formerly the Christmas Fund for the Veterans of the Cross), one of four Special Mission Offerings of the United Church of Christ (UCC), is an important way of sharing our joy at God s renewing and life-giving grace. The offering, which is administered by the United Church Board for Ministerial Assistance of the Pension Boards on behalf of the UCC, is an expression of joy and gratitude to, and for, those who serve the church.

Gifts to the Christmas Fund help provide pension and health premium supplementation to lowincome retirees, emergency assistance to the families of clergy and lay employees and Christmas gift checks to hundreds of annuitants. Your gifts are needed more than ever to help the growing number of retirees whose low income annuities make it difficult to meet increasing living costs. This is your opportunity to participate in God s promise of renewal by enabling this ministry of compassion and care. The Christmas Fund offering will be taken December 18 th. Christmas Fund offering envelopes will be included with bulletins in the month of December. Those wishing to donate using their regular offering envelopes can simply mark Christmas Fund and the amount of donation under the other designation.
