Church Life Cohort Application Indiana District Church Life Cohort 2012-2013 A Cohort Experience The Church Life Cohort is a unified group of pastors accepting the challenge for renewal and transformation. The experience involves: Building peer relationships and peer coaching Focusing upon personal growth and spiritual renewal Facilitating a Pentecostal process for transformation Facilitating pastors in developing a unique, individualized growth plan for themselves and their church Accepting the challenge to reconnect with the culture of the church s community The Church Life Cohort A Church Health Journey 2011 Cohort Only pastors who have a hunger to gain further spiritual and practical insights to help unfold God s purposes for their life, ministry, and church should apply. This spiritually based journey is for those who want to go to the next level and are open and committed to the disciplined application of foundational church health principles. Consultants & Coaches Drs. Wayne & Sherry Lee, Lead Consultants for Church Life Resources: The Lees will lead the foundation/review session attended by all participants. Church Life certified consultants and coaches: David Delp, Director of Ministerial Development Troy Boulware, Pastor of Newburgh Abundant Life Assembly of God John Backes, Pastor of Huntington Bethel Assembly of God Wayne Murray, Pastor of New Whiteland Grace Assembly of God Jeff Carlson, Pastor of Plainfield First Assembly of God James Clark, Pastor of DeMotte Calvary Assembly of God A number of Church Life alumni will join these consultants as coaches of individual participants. First Year Participants First year participants will individually focus upon an introduction to the Church Life journey and to their own personal leadership development in preparation for subsequent focus upon church and ministry. Monthly coaching sessions will focus upon personal leadership development and a deeper understanding of the processes. See the schedule in this packet for an overview of topics. Second & Third Year Participants Second and third year participants will follow the Church Life function succession with an emphasis on Vision Team leadership and implementation in the local church based upon the Bridge Model. Veteran participants will give attention to vision refinement, establishment of strategic objectives, methodologies, and tactical functions. This exploration will take place in the context of a relational context with monthly individual coaching sessions. Alumni Those having completed two years are welcome to sit in on cohort sessions. Their only costs being lunch costs and for any assessments they choose to take. Alumni bring great value to the cohort sessions because of the experience they bring to the table.

June 4, 2012 Management Finances, Facilities, Decision Making with a focus upon Vision Team leadership and bridge implementation. August 27, 2012 Spiritual Life Spiritual Life, Worship, Preaching & Teaching. Breakout sessions for first and second year participants. October 29, 2012 Spiritual Community Small Groups, Assimilation, & Pastoral Care with a focus upon Vision Team leadership and bridge implementation. January 21, 2013 Ministries & Discipleship Church ministries, discipleship with a focus upon Vision Team leadership and bridge implementation. April 8, 2013 Outreach & Implementation Outreach and Connection with Community. Wrap-up and implementation. Breakout sessions for first and second year participants. TBD optional Vision Team Training Depending upon cohort need and interest, this session will introduce church life and the vision team process to your vision team. Cost Information The deadline for application is January 31, 2012 unless director individually grants an extension. Deadline is necessary for the proper arrangement of coaching relationships and for the participant s review of materials prior to the launch. Initial payment/fees due February 15, 2012. Each Church/Pastor $1.50 per month per average Sunday Morning Worship attendance (Maximum $100/per month) (Minimum $25/per month) Plus $175 consumables fee for first year participants Payable upfront, quarterly, or monthly (in advance) Each Staff Pastor or additional participant* $250 (annually) Payable with the pastor s payments (upfront, monthly, or quarterly in advance) Spouse $150 (annually) Payable with the pastor s payments (upfront, monthly, or quarterly in advance) Auditors (see below) $50 per audited session *Senior Pastor must be a part of the journey and must invite staff participant. The cohort journey is a package; please do not request price adjustments for missed days or assessments not completed, etc. Participants commit to attendance at all sessions and benefit is diminished when sessions are missed. Pastors may invite a limited number of vision team members to audit sessions. The cost per audit is $50 and includes assessments, handouts, and everything available to participants for that particular session. Auditors must be registered with the Ministry Development Office two weeks prior to the session. The books on the reading list are not included in the price, but are a requirement for participation. Four to six books are required per level with the books generally averaging about $15 each. Refund Policy: Registration deposit is non-refundable. The cost of the sessions and consultations are not refundable and are payable whether the participant attends the session or completes the session. This is a two-year commitment (with opportunity for evaluation after the first year). Cohort budgets are established based upon commitments. What does participation in the cohort require? All of the consultants and coaches make a considerable commitment of time and resources to provide this journey and we want to assure participants will make a commensurate commitment to this transformational journey. In joining this journey, you will specifically commit to the following: 1. Attendance/participation in coaching calls are non-negotiable in. 2. Participants not keeping coaching appointments will be dropped from the coaching component. 3. Reading assignments (4 to 6 books during the course of the journey) are required. Lift only comes through the introduction of new material. 4. Participants commit to attendance at all sessions. We understand that emergencies arise in a pastor s life, but please make every effort to be in attendance at every meeting. 5. Remember, you commit not only to your own growth, but in a cohort setting, you commit to the success of all of the other participants in the cohort. This will be a phenomenal year for the cohort We hope you will join us for the journey!
