MOUNT OLIVET BAPTIST CHURCH Sunday, September 11, 2016 10:45 AM * Call to Worship Harvest time is fast approaching. But we cannot reap what we have not sowed. We serve a great God who gives us abundant blessings. Yet we are often stingy with our time, talent, treasure, and even our praise and worship. Lord, we seek Your face and aspire to be in relationship with you. Holy Spirit, help us to actively serve You and Your people through our discipleship and stewardship. * Evocation Father God, please forgive us of our unwillingness to fully commit to being faithful stewards. Help to open our spiritual eyes and hearts so we may hear and understand Your desires for us. We know we can never match your generosity, but allow our giving and sharing of gifts be pleasing in Your sight. Give us a spirit of generosity and a commitment to stewardship. In Jesus Name we pray. Lift Him Up How to reach the masses, men of every birth, For an answer, Jesus gave the key: And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, Will draw all men unto Me. Lift Him up, lift Him up; Still He speaks from eternity: And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, Will draw all men unto Me. Oh! the world is hungry for the Living Bread, Lift the Savior up for them to see; Trust Him, and do not doubt the words that He said, I ll draw all men unto Me. Don t exalt the preacher, don t exalt the pew, Preach the Gospel simple, full, and free; Prove Him and you will find that promise is true, I ll draw all men unto Me. Lift Him up by living as a Christian ought, Let the world in you the Savior see; Then men will gladly follow Him Who once taught, I ll draw all men unto Me.
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 6 The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.

Spiritual Growth Challenge September 2016: Stewardship Week 2 Practice Dates: September 11 th September 17 th Text: He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty. (Proverbs 28:19) Thought: Owners have rights and stewards have responsibilities. God has graciously entrusted us with the care taking and development of everything He owns. As stewards we are responsible for managing his holdings according to His expressed desires. A responsible steward labors diligently on his/her land to maximize its harvest. A responsible steward in not given to laziness, quick fixes or fantasies about becoming rich. Patience and composure are personal qualities of a responsible steward. Often patience and composure are difficult to qualities to sustain when it comes to money matters. The good news is that God has sent the Holy Spirit to inspire and empower us to be patient and composed financial stewards. Task: Self-Assessment of Giving What Type of Giver are you? Answer: Generous (Sacrificial Giver) What would it take to keep you here? Answer: _ A Time to Pray: Almighty God, I thank You for all the gifts You have given me: my life, my loved ones, all that I have and all that I am, Most of all I thank You for Jesus, Your son and my Redeemer, who came among us to show us the way to eternal life. Jesus was the perfect steward of Your gifts, showing that complete trust in You is necessary, and that giving of self is a most important part of following Christ. Holy Spirit guide my improvement in my giving practices. As I go through this week Father God, help me to focus on becoming the type of giver You Lord intend for me to be. May the offering of my time, talent, treasures and material resources be made in the same spirit of sacrifice that Jesus taught us by His life and death for us. In Jesus name. Amen. SERVE AND GROW!
