A few questions to ask yourself are: How important is your faith in your daily life? Have you taken time to perform spiritual and corporal works of mercy? Are you aware what spiritual and corporal works of mercy are? Finally, if God were to call you to be with him this day, would you feel ready to join Him or would you need a few more minutes to get your house in order? This process is important before we celebrate the coming year so that we can look forward to a brighter tomorrow filled with the peace, love and the mercy of our God. Do not let this valuable opportunity pass you by. On behalf of the clergy and parish staff, I wish you a happy, healthy and merciful 2016. ECCLESIASTES 3: To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born: Pray for the newly born and pregnant mothers of our parish. a time to weep, mourn and die: Carol Masek a time of war and a time of peace: Please pray for our men and women who are serving our country all over the world. a time to heal: We pray for the sick of our parish. STEWARD OF THE MONTH Marion McCarthy is a long-standing member of our Music Ministry. She has been singing in the Adult Choir since it was formed in 1987, longer than any other member. In addition, Marion is our choral librarian. We have a large choral library with over 600 titles for Adult, Youth and Children s Choirs. Marion catalogs all new music, prepares the box for each title, and distributes and collects music for each chorister. The ministry could not function without this essential component, which Marion always does cheerfully, brightening the lives of everyone she meets. We thank her for her many years of service to our parish. WEEKLY TITHE 5% OF NEXT WEEK S COLLECTION WILL BE DONATED TO WHITEHOUSE FIRE COMPANY. TABERNACLE LAMPS BURN IN HONOR OF: ROBERT MARTIN SARAH COYNE GIANPAULO GALLUZZI SACRED HEART LAMP BURNS IN HONOR OF: CLAIRE BODEK MANY THANKS TO THIS WEEK S ADVERTISER: HUNTERDON DENTAL ESTHETICS EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP Pope Francis said in an address from 2013, "Mary, whose 'yes' opened the door for God to undo the knot of the ancient disobedience, is the Mother who patiently and lovingly brings us to God, so that he can untangle the knots of our soul by his fatherly mercy." What would this Jubilee Year of Mercy look like without Mary saying yes to God's plan for her? Would we even have such a year? Mary is the Mother who lovingly brings us to God, the one who turns human yesses into miracles. Mary not only gave birth to the Son of God, she gave birth to our hope that by our own affirmative reply to God's calling in our life, that God will comfort and care for us as his own. Our Lady is then not only the Mother of God, but the Mother of Mercy, for without her, the pathway of mercy and grace does not break into our world. We then must demonstrate our gratefulness for her answer to God by becoming vessels of God's mercy for others. Just as he turned her yes into the Incarnation, God can turn our yes into a way for others to encounter Jesus Christ. God can untangle knots in others through our generosity and compassion. He can shower mercy upon a world in such desperate need of it through our actions and gestures of love. This is what it means to be a mature disciple and to live a stewardship way of life. Mary is the Mother of God, but she is our Mother as well. What better way to give thanks to the woman who made this possible with her gesture of love than by offering that same love to the world? Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS, Liturgical Publications COMMUNITY LIFE THE ROSARIAN GIFT SHOP The gift shop will be open, Sunday, January 17 and Sunday, February 21 ONLY during the winter months. Special orders may still be placed by calling Ruth Stieh at 534-4039 or email rastieh@gmail.com. Thank you for your continued support! KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS 3RD ANNUAL COMEDY NIGHT SATURDAY, JANUARY 16 AT 7:00 PM Knights of Columbus Council 6930 will host their third annual Comedy Night Saturday, January 16, at 7:00 pm in Community Hall. The Comedy Show will feature professional comedians that have been seen on HBO, Showtime, Last Comic Standing, The Tonight Show and Comic View. We look forward to a night of laughs, good food, and friends. As always, thank you for your support!
