Your donations to the World Mission Collection go to support 6 different Church missionary agencies: 1) the Propagation of the Faith (serves 1,111 of the poorest dioceses around the world); 2) Catholic Near East Welfare Association, to help Christians there who have been suffering persecution; 3) the Secretariat for the Church in Latin America; 4) Church in Central and Eastern Europe; and 5) Pastoral Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa. When someone in Asia receives care at one of 4,700 Catholic hospitals, when a catechist in Latin America shares the Good News of Jesus, when 16 million children in Africa receive elementary education at Catholic schools, when new churches are built in Eastern Europe after years of persecution - you are there through your gift to the World Mission Sunday Collection! To find out more about the World Mission Sunday collection, visit www.chatwiththepope.org and find out what Pope Francis has to say about World Missions!

Every Child a Wanted Child Prior to the legalization of abortion, advocates for abortion held out the panacea of the elimination of "unwanted children" if only abortion was legal. In fact, it was Planned Parenthood, which led this charge, coining the familiar slogan, "Every child a wanted child". Despite the fact that some 60 million "unwanted" babies have died in the intervening period, the pro-choice lobby still uses this argument to justify abortion. In the 1960's and 70's the pro-choice position was that legalizing abortion would drastically reduce child abuse. America legalized abortion and, child abuse has skyrocketed. Yet, despite this staggering increase in child abuse, the pro--choice lobby continues to tie itself in knots by now arguing that making abortion illegal would cause an in-crease in child abuse!!! How many more millions of children do we have to kill before their scheme starts to work? We all agree that every child should be wanted. This is an idealistic goal, but sadly we do not live in an idyllic world. Moreover, since when does anyone's right to live depend upon someone else wanting them? Women right-fully resent that the value of a woman is sometimes determined by whether a man wants her. How can any-one possibly insist that the value of an unborn baby is to be determined by whether a mother wants him or her at any given time? To use being wanted by someone as a measure of whether a human life is allowed to live is a truly frightening concept. Its converse logically awaits us--- that the unwanted can be eliminated. Don't forget that Hitler's Germany was ideal for wanted Aryans. To make sense, the slogan "Every child a wanted child" has to be completed "and if not wanted, aborted." To complete the sentence removes the mask from this misleading slogan and reveals it for the evil that it is! EUCHARIST TO THE HOMEBOUND Do you know someone who is unable to come to Mass and would like to receive Communion whether on a temporary or longterm basis? If so, please call the parish office at 360-675-2303 to arrange a visit. Protecting God s Children for Adults We can t be with our children at all times, but we can learn ways to help keep them safe when we re not there. All employees and volunteers who have unsupervised, ongoing access to minors or vulnerable adults are required to attend this 3-hour training on how you can help to prevent child sexual abuse. Protecting God s Children was written and developed by Virtus, a program developed by the national Catholic Risk Retention Group. If you are considering helping in the Religious Education or Eucharistic to the Homebound ministry you must attend the training. Training will be held on Monday, October 30 at 6:00 pm in the parish office of St Augustine. In the class you will learn facts and myths about child sexual abuse; how offenders gain access to children; warning signs to look for in children, or adults and actions to take when you notice warning signs. You will need to register online at virtusonline.org, and click on the Registration tab located on the right hand of the page. If you need assistance with your registration or have any questions, contact the parish office at 360-675-2303.
