I am converting to Judaism in the near future as my soon to be husband is Jewish. I enjoyed the overview of all the major Jewish holidays and the important texts in the Jewish religion as I wasn't familiar with all of them. The section about how to keep kosher was also helpful, though it will be very difficult to do so, as I love prosciutto, but these are the sacrifices that must be made :). We are working on finding a rabbi for the wedding now, and I am thankful to have all the information in this book as I move forward in the process of converting. This is a really fascinating perspective into Judaism for anyone considering conversion, or, like me
wanting to understand more about the Jewish religion. It clearly spells out the pros and cons without giving a 'glossy' ideal and really emphasizes the determination required to be accepted into the faith. Nonetheless, the beliefs and practices are captivating and I can appreciate the Jewish faith with far more insight than before. Great and very helpful guide to anyone who considers conversion to Judaism.But this not the only reason to get and read this book. I am always interested in different religions and beliefs and for this reason was very glad when I found this book.i was not disappointed, it is a real eyeopener. It contains a wealth of information about the Jewish faith and made me respect this old religion and way of life even more. A great book to learn about Judaism culture, belief and customs. I bought this book more over to learn more about Judaism. And it is fascinating to know more about the oldest religion. After reading this book I feel more thirst to know more about Judaism. It is definitely a great religion with so many festivals and flexible traditions, that any new follower can follow easily. I recommend this book to all, not only who want to follow Judaism. But also who are interested in other religions. The book offers a perfect understanding of What Judaism is all about, the beliefson which it is based, what are the rules and laws that are to be followed as a jewand what makes it a little hard to become a jew. In short it offers you a complete understandingof how your life is bound to change once you decide to become a Jew. I think the modern jewscan also gain a lot by reading this book to know more about their religion and learn how to live theirlives as true jews. Nicely written. I am not going to become a jew because of this book But it is a good introduction for me as a man who just wanted to know what most jews observe. Things I learned, jews think that christ was a false messiah, moses was the true messiah, and interfaith marriages are forbidden! I also learned that the code of conduct for jews is the 613 mitzvot and I will be reading these shortly.
