GOD IS THE CREATOR 1

THE REVELATION OF GOD THE CREATOR (for preschoolers) The goal of this series of lessons is not only to teach the children many facts about creation. If this is all we do, we have failed. Our goal is to infuse them with an indelible impression of how wonderful God the Creator is. We will do this by helping them consider His creation, see His creation, go through His creation and explore His creation together with us. For this reason these "lessons" must not only be taught in a classroom or only pass on information to them. The serving ones must use visual aids, pictures, videos, crafts, animals, go outdoors, go to a zoo, etc., to make all that is taught to them as living and impressive as possible. One is impressed with how wonderful God is by considering His plan of love, His omnipotence, His infinite intelligence, unfathomable knowledge, multifarious wisdom, etc. All this is seen in the creation of the universe with its infinite galaxies, their orbs, stars, planets, and the different kinds of lives we find on earth. We also want to infuse them with how wonderful God is in His divine capacity, as is seen in the design, order, art, beauty, and color, of His creation. This is seen in everything related to the plant life, such as in the flowers, ornamental trees, fruit bearing trees, etc. Furthermore, it is seen in the life of insects, small animals, large animals, creatures of the field, the forest, sea, air, etc. We expect that the children will be impressed with how wonderful and real is God their Creator, before they are exposed to theories and lies of men that they will receive even from as early on as primary school. And we hope that this impression will last the rest of their lives. We do not want to pass on lessons to the children that are mere explanations or knowledge. We want to infuse into them a spirit of admiration and wonder. May they feel through our "teaching" what the Psalmist felt in the Psalms 8:3-4 and 19:1-6, when he considered the creation of God and His concern, care and love for man! May they understand in their hearts the invisible things concerning Him, such as His eternal power and divine characteristics, through the creation of the world and all the wonderful things he has made! (Rom. 1:20). May we infuse them with the reality of what God is to such an extent that if 2

anyone would say to them: "There is no God," they would respond with conviction, "Then you must be a foo!" (Ps. 53:1). This is not too much to hope, because God delights in revealing Himself to infants, and even to sucklings. He is able to do this through His Spirit who makes Him known and through the Word of faith that we speak to them at their level of understanding. Such an impression is not achieved just by showing facts to the children, or by giving them mere information or knowledge. This requires living prayer on our part. It also requires that we receive a fresh revelation from God Himself, which He gives freely and without reproach when we ask (James 1:5). May there be no lack of prayer and fellowship with God for such a noble task! We not only want to give the children an "education" about God the Creator, we want to infuse them with a living revelation of Himself, by transmitting to them the very same inspiration that we have received from Him. God was able to do this with Job - a man who was so full of knowledge, yet was totally void of revelation about how great and wonderful God is. God finally managed to open his eyes by asking him provoking questions about His creation. In Job 38:4-42:6 God subdued him by asking him many questions. He asked him about the creation of the universe, the earth, the animals that live in the field, the air, the sea, etc. We also have to learn this way of "teaching", which not only passes on information to children; rather, it asks them the proper questions, and thus takes them by the hand and helps them to exercise their intelligence to consider things, before we share with them today s lesson about the wonderful facts of creation. At the end of each lesson there is a section that says: "More ways to infuse the point to inspire the children with, which is followed with four points. These are repeated in each lesson to remind the serving ones to always include something fresh in their lesson for the children, according to their own experience and preparation. August 23, 2012 Any fellowship will be very welcome, please write us at: www.alacenaparaninos.com 3

God is the Creator Lesson 1 The Heavens and the Earth Point to inspire the children with: To carry out His heart s desire, His wonderful plan, in some amazing manner, God created the heavens and the earth in an amazing way; He created them from nothing. They were made so perfect and so beautiful that when the angels beheld them they spontaneously overflowed with songs of joy (Job 38:7). Memory verse: Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 1. In the beginning, before God made the animals, trees, bees, or you and me, God created the heavens and the earth. 2. When God created the heavens (outer space, stars, sun and moon) and earth, He made everything beautiful, bright, neat and perfect. 3. Everything was so beautiful that when the angels saw the heavens and the earth, they sang for joy (Job 38:7). 4. God has a special plan and for this reason He created the heavens and the earth in a wonderful way. 1. Songs: God is love, the heavens and the earth this are saying 4. Questions for the children: 5

Point to inspire the children with: God is the Creator Lesson 2 The Light (1): Day and Night From darkness, God made light shine and separated light from darkness. Memory verse: Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 1. Remind the children how beautiful and perfect the heavens and the earth were when God created them. 2. Then tell them that something happened and everything went dark. (Do not explain any details about Satan s rebellion at this point; that would be premature knowledge). There was no light. In the dark we can not see anything. 3. Impress the children by talking to them about things you cannot see or do in the dark. 4. Because God had a special plan, He did not allow the dark earth to stay in darkness. God spoke and said: "Let there be light: and there was light." (Show them the difference between light and darkness). 5. God does not like the darkness, so he said: "Let there be light." 1. Songs: 4. Questions for children: 6

God is the Creator Lesson 3 Light (2): The Colors Point to inspire the children with: The light God created is good, it not only allows us to see, but also to enjoy the many colors. Memory verse: Genesis 1:4 God saw that the light was good. 1. Review how God spoke and the light shined out of the darkness. Emphasize how God saw that the light was good. This means that God was pleased with the light and liked it. This happened on the first day. 2. Light shines and allows us to see the many colors that God used to color the whole universe. Without light we can not see the colors. (Do not teach the children that light itself has several colors, these are still too young.) 3. Sow them how attractive the colors are for our enjoyment and appreciation, but also teach them how colors help us to recognize and distinguish different objects. 4. Show the children the variety of colors that we see in the things that God created. 1. Songs: 4. Questions for children: 7

God is the Creator Lesson 4 The Air (the expanse) Point to inspire the children with: On the second day God made the expanse of air between the earth and outer space. The air is very important for all living things: plants, animals and people. Nothing can live without air. Memory verse: Genesis 1:6 And God said, Let there be an expanse. 1. Review the past lessons. After God created light (on day one), the next thing He did was to create the air. 2. You can show them the verse: "And God said, Let there be an expanse." The expanse is simply the air. The air is very important for humans and all living creatures. 3. Stimulate a discussion by asking questions such as: Why do we need air? Do the trees need air? 4. Only the earth has the proper air for people, animals and plants. You can see that when God created the earth, He was preparing it so that all living things, especially men, could live in it. God made the air on the second day. 1. Songs: 8

God is the Creator Lesson 5 The Waters Above Point to inspire the children with: When God made the air, He separated the waters above, which are in the clouds, from the waters below. God knew that man and all living things need water to live, so He separated the waters below from the waters above. Memory verse: Genesis 1:6 And God said, Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters. 1. Review how God was preparing the earth for all the living creatures to live on, and especially men. 2. When God made the expanse of air, He separated the waters below from the waters above. 3. The waters above are in the clouds. Clouds contain huge amounts of water. The rain can change dry deserts into fields of flowers and even cause terrible floods. 4. The clouds carry water to places where there is none. 1. Songs: 4. Questions for children: 9

God is the Creator Lesson 6 The Waters Below Point to inspire the children with: Knowing that man and all living things need water to live, God separated the waters below from the waters above. Memory verse: Genesis 1:6 And God said... let it separate the waters from the waters. 1. God separated the waters, putting some on the earth, under the expanse. (Show pictures). 2. Besides the huge salty oceans, there are also seas, freshwater lakes, rivers and springs. (Show pictures). 3. Why did God prepare these waters? (You can show them pictures of things that need water.) We need water to live. 4. God knew that man and all the other living things need water, so he prepared a lot of water, enough for everyone and everything. 1. Songs: 4. Questions for children: 10

God is the Creator Lesson 7 The Dry Land Point to inspire the children with: The earth was hidden under the water, but when God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear", something wonderful happened: the land emerged from the waters. Memory verse: Genesis 1:10 And God called the dry land Earth. Biblical Reference: Genesis 1:9-10 1. Review the previous lesson. 2. If there were no dry land, there would be no place for plants, animals and people to live and grow. 3. The land has different types of terrains (shapes): mountains, valleys, hills, plains, etc.. 4. When God said, "Let the dry land appear," the land emerged from the water. The land where we live today is the same land that emerged when God said, "Let the dry land appear." 5. If there were no dry land, neither the plants, the animals, or we would have any place to live on earth. God knew that the plants and people need a place to grow, so He made the land appear on the third day. 6. You can bring some dirt to show to the children. 1. Songs: 4. Questions for children: 11

God is the Creator Lesson 8 The Grass Point to inspire the children with: After God made the earth appear, it had no life. Then God brought forth the beautiful green grass everywhere to cover it like the most beautiful clothing. The whole earth would be like an ugly desert if there were no grass. Memory verse: Genesis 1:11 And God said, Let the earth sprout grass. Biblical reference: Genesis 1:11-13 1. Remind the children how God gathered the waters into one place and the dry land appeared. 2. The land is very good for growing many things. Although gold is beautiful, nothing can grow on gold. Neither can anything grow on glass. God wanted the earth to grow different types of plants. 3. The grass was the first such plant that God made to grow in the earth, and it is the simplest plant. 4. Without the grass land is like a desert. Grass has a very beautiful green color. How wonderful is God Creator! He not only made the grass to beautify the earth, but also for the animals eat. 5. Cows, sheep and many animals mainly eat grass. If these animals had no grass to eat, they would die. So God made the grass so grass-eating animals could live. 1. Songs: 4. Questions for children: 12

Point to inspire the children with: God is the Creator Lesson 9 The Plants Bearing Seed Besides grass, God brought forth on earth the plants bearing seed. These plants not only provide food for animals and beauty to the land, but also provide medicines and food for man. God knew that animals and man would need food and medicine, so God made these plants yielding seed. Memory verse: Genesis 1:11 God said, Let the earth sprout grass, herbs yielding seed Biblical reference: Genesis 1:11-13 1. God is great and wise, so He could create many, many kinds of plants in order to provide shelter, food for the animals, and also natural medicines and food for man. 2. There are different types of plants that have seeds, which provide different kinds of things to help us survive. (Some of these plants, such as vegetables and fruits, give us food. Examples: rice, wheat, corn, oats. In addition, there are other plants that give us material for making soft cloth and clothes (the cotton plant). [They can bring some samples of these plants.]) 3. God knew that man and animals need food to live, so He created the plants, not only to beautify the land but also to provide food and medicine for humans. Children must be impressed with the greatness of God in creating many types of plants that provide different things for our existence. 1. Songs: 4. Questions for children: 13

God is the Creator Lesson 10 The Seeds Point to inspire the children with: God not only created different types of plants, but also created seeds for each plant. Once a seed is planted, it will grow a new plant just like the plant from which the seed came. Children must be impressed with the power of a seed. Memory verse: Genesis 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, herbs yielding seed according to their kind, and trees bearing fruit with their seed in them. Biblical reference: Genesis 1:11-13 1. When God created plants, He created them in a very special way. Plants provide us with many things we need, and they also make the land look beautiful. Each flower has its own kind of seed. The seed is a very important part of the plant. Impress the children with the power of a seed. 2. There are seeds of different kinds, shapes, sizes and colors. (You can show some seeds). There are seeds that are very small and others are larger, but still a very small seed can become a plant or a large tree. 3. Once a seed has been planted, all its different parts begin to grow. The roots grow down, the stem and leaves grow up. 4. God is very orderly, He caused the dry land to emerge from the waters, to grow grass and plants. But He also knew that the seeds of these plants would need land to be planted in in order to grow many more plants. 1. Songs: 4. Questions for children: 5. An interesting point: If you plant a car or a computer, what will? Nothing will happen. But if we sow a seed in the ground, grow. 14

God is the Creator Lesson 11 The Flowers Point to inspire the children with: Although God created many kinds of plants (some provide food for animals and men, some provide medicine, some clothing, etc.) The most beautiful and pleasant to the eye are the flowers. Memory verse: Genesis 1:11 God said, Let the earth sprout grass, herbs [plants] yielding seed. Biblical reference: Genesis 1:11-13 1. In past lessons we talked about the different plants and seeds. Some of these plants have flowers that are beautiful and give a fragrance too. (You can take a flower and let them smell it). 2. There are many types of flowers: large, small, and with different colors. For example, the sunflowers are beautiful and are large; they grow tall and have many seeds, too. In contrast, God also created the lilies, which are smaller and delicate. 3. Children must be impressed with the greatness of God in creating many types of plants that provide different things for our survival. 1. Songs: 4. Questions for children: 15

God is the Creator Lesson 12 The Fruit Trees Point to inspire the children with: When God created the earth, He was thinking of mankind, of us. He knew that plants would provide delicious food for man to eat. So He created not only plants, but also created fruit trees. Memory Verse: Genesis 1:11 Then God said, Let the earth sprout fruit trees yielding fruit according to their kind, with their seed in them. Biblical reference: Genesis 1:11-13 1. Last time we talked about the seeds. When seeds are planted, new plants grow from every seed that is sown. 2. Today we will talk about some large plants that God made, which are called trees. (You can display photos or take the children where they can see some trees). 3. Some kinds of trees also provide food, they are called fruit trees. (You can ask the children some examples of fruit trees). 4. When God created the trees, he was thinking about us. He knew that the trees would provide many things for humans and animals; even shade to cool us off in the heat. 1. Songs: 4. Questions for children: 16

Point of inspiration for the children: God is the Creator Lesson 13 God made the Sun On the fourth day, God made two great lights, the sun and moon. The dawn of the sun ends the night. Our God makes His sun to shine over all the earth, and over all men, every day without fail. What a blessing! It gives us light and heat. He knew that man cannot live on earth without the sun. How great is God in His wisdom and power! Memory verse: Genesis. 1:16 a And God made the two great light-bearers, the greater light-bearer to rule the day 1. Remind the children that God created all the plants on the third day. 2. God created the sun, the greater light to come out during the day. The sunlight is so strong that it makes the darkness of the night go away. 3. The sun makes the earth a proper place for the plants, trees, and animals to live, but especially, so that man can live on earth. Without the sun, it would not be possible for life to be on earth. 4. The sun also warms the earth. Otherwise it would be frozen. Song: 1. Illustrations, photos, drawings, etc. 2. Suggested craft: cover a floor for a week and then see what happens without light. 17

Point of inspiration for the children: God is the Creator Lesson 14 God made the Moon and Stars Since man needs much less light at night than in the day, God made the moon and stars to shine and give less light on the earth during the night. Memory verse: Genesis 1:16 And God made... the lesser light-bearer to rule the night, and the stars. 1. Review what happened on the third day, and review the first great light-bearer, the sun, which appeared on the fourth day.. 2. In order to take care of our need for light, God made the sun to shine brightly during the day and the beautiful moon and stars to give a softer light in the night. 3. On the moon there is no air, water, plants, or animals. Nothing can live on the moon. 4. The moon is the brightest light we see in the sky at night. (Show pictures of the moon and the stars so that the children can see the difference). 5. The moon appears very large and bright sometimes, but at other times its light decreases, and sometimes it may not be seen at all! 6. The starlight is much less than that of the moon, but, unlike the moon, they are always shining to give at least a small amount of light at night to men. 7. The moon and the stars also serve as a guides for boats and people during the night. 1. Song: 4. Suggested Activity: Take the children to a dark room and shine a flashlight or flashlight. Compare the flashlight to light the lamp in the room. 18

Point of inspiration for the children: God is the creator Lesson 15 The Seasons: Spring God made the sun, moon and stars not only for warmth and light but also to the seasons. Memory verse: Genesis 1:14 And whether there be light-bearers... for seasons. 1. Review what happened on the third day and light-bearers that were made on the fourth day. 2. Apart from giving us heat and light, the sun, moon and stars also mark the seasons. The seasons are spring, summer, autumn (or fall) and winter. 3. God knew that plants and animals need different growing times and conditions, so He made the different seasons. 4. Spring is the time where we can sow seeds, and for plants to grow. Rainfall during the spring helps plants grow. 5. In the springtime, all the different colores of the flowers and plants that God created make everything look beautiful. Even many trees have flowers. 1. Song: 19

Point of inspiration for the children: God is the Creator Lesson 16 The Seasons: Summer There is a purpose for every season. Summer is a hot season. Plants also need heat to grow beautiful and healthy so they can bear fruit. In this way man and the animals can eat. Memory verse: Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be light-bearers... for seasons. 1. Review what happened during the fourth day, how God created the light-bearers. Also review the spring season. 2. God is very wise, every living thing He made under heaven has its time. The seasons were created in order to clearly mark, identify, time for us. 3. During the summer season the climate is warmer than in other seasons. 4. The summer heat makes plants grow, bear fruit and vegetables for us and the animals we eat. 1. Song: 20

Point of inspiration for the children: God is the Creator Lesson 17 The Seasons: Autumn (Fall) God is very wise to create seasons and to mark, identify, time for us. Autumn, or fall, is the third season, which is the harvest time for many plants, that is, the time to gather the fruit. Each one of the seasons is beautiful, and each one has its own function. Memory verse: Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be light-bearers... for seasons. 1. Review the first seasons and what they are for. Spring is for planting and summer is for the plants to grow and ripen under the hot sun. 2. The third season that God made for man is autumn, which is also called fall. Fall is the time to reap the fruit of the land. At this time the harvest is ripe and ready to cut, or pick, and eat. 3. During the autumn season, the leaves fall off of the plants; this prepares them for the next season. 1. Song: 21

God is the Creator Lesson 18 The Seasons: Winter Point of inspiration for the children: There is a purpose for each of the seasons. The last season is winter. During the winter the earth does not produce anything, the earth rests. God is very wise, He even made a time for even the earth to rest. Memory verse: Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be light-bearers... for seasons. 1. Briefly review the seasons: Spring is for planting seeds, summer is for the seed to grow and produce fruit, fall is for harvesting and enjoying the fruit, and finally winter comes. 2. The last season that God made is winter. After the earth produces its fruit, the winter comes, which is a time when the land rests. 3. After the earth rests, the cycle to produce food for man begins again. 4. Our God is so good! He made a time for the land to rest. In making the winter season God was preparing the ground so it could continue to give us fruit to eat and live well. 1. Song: 22

Point of inspiration for the children: God is the Creator Lesson 19 Living Creatures of the Sea On the fifth day, God made the sea swarm with many different kinds of creatures, and filled the air with different kinds of birds. How great is God in His wisdom and power! Memory verse: Genesis. 1:20 And God said, Let the waters swarm with swarms of living animals. 1. Review what happened in the previous days of creation. 2. God made creatures of different sizes, some as big as whales and others as small as the Pygmy, a fish which is smaller than a pencil eraser. 3.
