Vibrant Nights 4 3rd July 2014 5 th Ramadan Ar Raheem Allah created the heavens and the earth and everything between them for people to know Allah and recognize Him. This is the wisdom behind creation. The entire Quran affirms la ilaha illallah. The name we started yesterday was Ar Raheem. Ar Rahman refers to a general mercy over the entire creation believers and disbelievers. Ar Raheem refers to a special mercy. Allah will have mercy on a person and open the gates of good deeds, of knowledge in order that he can deserve to be in paradise. Paradise is Rahmatullah, the Mercy of Allah. We saw the name of Ar Raheem, then the combination of Ghafoorur Raheem. Today, we will look at the name, Tawwaabur Raheem. AtTawwaab: Allah is the one who initiates repentance for his servants. Out of His special mercy, Allah puts the feeling of repentance in the hearts. And then, out of His mercy, He accepts the tawbah of His slaves. Surah Nisa: 64 And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of Allah. And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful. Allah didn t send any messenger except with a mission- to guide the people. Messengers need to be obeyed, but this is with the permission of Allah. Everything in the heavens and the earth is by the permission of Allah. He knows who will obey and who will not obey Allah. He gave the permission to obey to the one He knew will obey and didn t give the permission to obey to the one He knew will not obey. This way, Allah permitted some people to obey the messengers and some others He didn t allow, so they disobeyed the messengers.
So obedience to the messengers is by the permission of Allah. When the people were unfair, unjust to themselves by falling into sins, and they came to Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, and he asked forgiveness for them, they will find Allah Tawwaabar Raheemaa. When you sin, ask forgiveness sincerely. Allah makes you ask forgiveness, puts this feeling in your heart by His mercy. He wants to forgive you, to elevate you, to be closer to Him. This is out of Allah s special mercy. And then He accepts your repentance out of this mercy. AlAzeez ArRaheem When we put two most beautiful names of Allah together, they bring a third most beautiful name, beautiful meaning. This is a unique connection. Al Azeez: Allah is the Almighty, no one can stand in front of Him, and whatever He wants will happen. He has the might, the honor. Full of power. This is a very powerful name. This combination is repeated several times in Surah Shuaraa. Surah Shuaraa: 68 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. This ayah comes after Allah talks about the messengers and the nations, about how He destroyed the evil nations and saved the messengers and their followers. Allah sent the messengers to guide the people and the people should obey them. Allah guided the followers to obey the messengers out of His special mercy. And He saved those who obeyed the messengers and their followers out of His special mercy. That s why he mentions Ar Raheem. If there were 19 disobedient people, 19 were destroyed. If 109 were beliers, 109 were destroyed. So He is Al Azeez for the disbelievers and Ar Raheem for the believers. Saving the believer and destroying the disbeliever is all part of the nurturing of Allah. Surah Shuaraa: 214-217 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred.
And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers. And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing." And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, This is Allah s address to Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Warn your family, humble yourself to the believers, be gentle with them. Declare yourself free from those who are disobedient to you. And trust in Allah, because he has all the power, all the might. By His Might, He will seize the people who denied the messenger. And rely on the Most Merciful who will have mercy on the believers and the obedient people. Surah Room: 1-5 Alif, Lam, Meem. The Byzantines have been defeated
In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome. Within three to nine years. To Allah belongs the command before and after. And that day the believers will rejoice In the victory of Allah. He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. Allah is telling the believers that they will have victory because of which they will rejoice. Allah gives victory to whoever He wills. Allah will not give victory based on how you have prepared the means, how many soldiers you have, etc. Rather, the ones who are just and on the truth are the ones given victory. That s why at Badr, Muslims were given victory. In Uhud, however, Allah gave the victory to the disbelievers because the believers didn t obey Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. So we need to believe and obey Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam if we want to be victorious. By His might, he will defeat the one who is unjust, and by His mercy he will give victory to the just. So we see that Al Azeez Ar Raheem is connected to victory, and tawakkul. Surah Yaseen: 1-5 Ya, Seen. By the wise Qur'an.
Indeed you, [O Muhammad], are from among the messengers, On a straight path. [This is] a revelation of the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, That you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are unaware. Allah is swearing by the wise Quran, and saying that Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam is from the messengers, on the straight path. In the Quran there are glad tidings, mercy for the believers from Ar Raheem, and warning for the disbelievers from Al Azeez. Everything in the Quran is revelation by Al Azeez Ar Raheem. Ar Raheem Al Wadood Surah Hood: 90 And ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is Merciful and Affectionate." Allah sent Shuaib Alaihis salaam to the people of Madyan. After his dialogue with his people, he is telling them at the end, make istighfaar for your sin, and repent (by quitting the sin). Look at the news he is telling them about Allah, that my Lord is Most Merciful, Most Affectionate.
If there is a disobedient person, don t take him further away from Allah. He is already far from Allah. Bring him close to Allah by telling him about Allah. When you are making forgiveness and repentance, remember He is Raheem, He will have mercy on you, and He will elevate your ranks. Out of His mercy, He will have you ask forgiveness and make repentance. And out of this mercy, He is full of love. He will never ever disappoint you, never let you down. He will bring you closer to Him and raise you in rank and accept your repentance. If the disbeliever repents to Allah, Allah will expiate their sins and put for each sin a reward. Each sin has a weight. This weight will be removed and a reward of the same weight will be put in its place. So the greater sins you repent from, the greater reward you will have. No one can do this except someone full of love. Raoofur Raheem Both refers to Allah s mercy and compassion. But Ar Raoof is about a more gentle mercy than Ar Raheem. Raoof refers to being full of mercy without any harm, without any punishments. Surah Hajj:65 Do you not see that Allah has subjected to you whatever is on the earth and the ships which run through the sea by His command? And He restrains the sky from falling upon the earth, unless by His permission. Indeed Allah, to the people, is Kind and Merciful. Allah has subjected everything on the earth for us. He is holding the sky from falling on our heads. Don t you see how Allah is taking care of you, subjected everything for you, protecting you? Don t think that the universe is by default, at random. No, the perfection in the universe is because of the mercy of Allah. Ar Raheem is the One teaching us and gathering us to study the Quran together in the last third of the night. It is a big neymah, biggest favour from Him upon us. With the jamaah, there is more blessing. May Allah make the Quran a spring of our hearts. May He accept from us and increase us in Iman and Itaaah, and bring us closer to Him Ameen.
