Why GIFT? Linking 2013-2016 Faith Plan to new faith plan o Hope is a gift from the Holy Spirit (Pope Francis) o We receive gifts from the Holy Spirit. Through the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we are blessed for we have not seen, yet we believe o Catholic Education is a gift we accept from God o We are called to share our gifts Visual Tree - Roots/Trunk/Leaves and Fruit We must nurture our faith and tend carefully to it so that it grows strong

Key Components: Connection to New RE Programs Scripture Prayer Service Social Teachings and Pope Francis teachings Engaged/Ethical Citizens/Entrepreneurial Spirit Building on previous plans/cycle Visual

YEAR 1: ROOTED IN CHRIST

YEAR 1: ROOTED IN CHRIST Faith Focus: I know God and God knows me Strands of Religious Education: Believing (Scripture) Catholic Social Teaching Focus: Life and Dignity of the Human Person Jesus says you are a child of God. You are designed on purpose and for a purpose.

Pope Francis Teaching: Jesus loved us. Jesus loves us. Without limit, always, to the end. Joy of the Gospel: #3- I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this very moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting him encounter them. Engaged Thinkers: Discerning Believer actively reflect on the role and meaning of God s word in our life Effective Communicator listen actively and critically to understand and learn in light of Gospel values

I am the Way The life and teachings of Jesus Christ that we read in the Gospels help us understand God s priorities so we can get our own perspectives right. Jesus is God s invitation to live an incredible life! Communion of Saints - The lives of the saints remind us of how to answer the call to follow Jesus. Gifts: Recognizing individual gifts: Jesus sees things in us that we don t see ourselves.

Call to Action: Read and ponder the Gospels Read the Sunday Gospel and a reflection prior to each Sunday Increase permeation of the Gospel in program of studies, school programs and activities, messaging, etc Key: Our focus is on conversion of hearts, not changing behaviour.

YEAR 2: GROWING IN SPIRIT

YEAR 2: GROWING IN SPIRIT Faith Focus: I love God and God loves me Strands of Religious Education: Praying Catholic Social Teaching Focus: Call to Family, Community, and Participation We cannot separate the spiritual teachings from the social teachings of Jesus We cannot separate the love of God from the love of neighbour

Pope Francis Teaching: All human persons, all of us, are important in God s eyes. Joy of the Gospel: #281- One form of prayer moves us particularly. To seek the good of others: it is the prayer of intercession #282- This attitude becomes a prayer of gratitude of God for others Ethical Citizen: Critical Thinker creates, adapts, and evaluates new ideas in light of the common good Lifelong Learner demonstrates respect for the dignity and welfare of self and others; strives to achieve a balanced and healthy lifestyle for the wellbeing of body, mind and soul

I am the Truth Through the lens of truth, Jesus places everything in its proper place, bringing order to every aspect of life, and thereby demonstrating the true value of things. We must allow God to put our lives in order. The fruit of this surrender is peace and joy. Holiness To be holy is to become fully the person God created you to be. Gifts: Recognizing the gifts of others: We are all children of God. God wants us to embrace our identity as his sons/daughters and then recognize that same identity in every person we meet. Generosity and Forgiveness are two of the most important gifts we can give.

Call to Action: Deepening our experience of prayer Key: Knowing about Jesus is not the same as knowing Jesus.

YEAR 3: SHARING OUR BOUNTY

YEAR 3: SHARING OUR BOUNTY Faith Focus: I serve God by serving others! Strands of Religious Education: Living a Moral Life and Living in Solidarity Catholic Social Teaching Focus: Solidarity The spirit of solidarity helps to create a society that recognizes that we live in an interdependent world

Pope Francis Teaching: Wake up the world! Be witnesses of a different way of doing things, of acting, of living! It is possible to live differently in this world. Joy of the Gospel: #24- The Church which goes forth is a community of missionary disciples who take the first step, who are involved and supportive, who bear fruit and rejoice God wants you to have complete joy. He created it for you. Jesus came so you could be immersed in complete joy. Entrepreneurial Spirit: Collaborative Contributor works effectively as an interdependent member of Christ s Body; develops their God-given potential and makes a meaningful contribution to society Responsible Citizen lives their life with Christ as their model and guide; respects and affirms the diversity and interdependence of the worlds peoples and cultures

I am the Life The fruit of the surrender by letting God put our lives in order is peace and joy. Joy comes from Gospel living. Holiness Create a holy moment, a moment when you are being the person God called you to be. Jesus gives me life. I am rooted in him. Gifts: I share gifts to bring forth the Good News: Astonish people with your generosity! From a heart of gratitude, we share our time, treasure, and talent.

Call to Action: The more we close the gap between the life we are living today and the life Jesus invites us to live through the Gospels, the more we will experience joy. Key: Our faith is not a spectator sport. Holiness is possible don t settle for good enough. Actions speak louder than like buttons.

I am the way, they truth, and the life. St. Paul tells us that hope has a name. Hope is Jesus. We have hope in Jesus, a person that s alive, that lives in the Eucharist, that is present in his word. Jesus gives us life. We are rooted in him.

I am the way, they truth, and the life. Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. They shall be like a tree planted by water, sending its roots by the stream. Jeremiah 17:7-8
