Come Holy Spirit! Dear Parishioners, I once again offer us 2 invitations. In preparation for the great feast of Pentecost I have these 2 invitations: Come Holy Spirit! Let s pray this often & open our hearts to receive the Holy Spirit. Pentecost Holy Hour: Friday June 6 th 7-8pm at Ascension. June 6 th will be the 2 nd Pentecost Holy Hour the 1 st was May 30 th at St. Bernard. I will lead us through various prayers during the Holy Hour, which may include: a litany to the Holy Spirit; a few decades of the Scriptural Rosary focusing on the Holy Spirit; a sung refrain imploring the Holy Spirit to come to us; Night Prayer; silent adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Our disposition will be to have an open heart to receive whatever the Holy Spirit knows we need and wants to give us personally and as parishes. We will come with a spirit (no pun intended) of expectation because God is good and always wants to give us good gifts. I hope that many of us have been/will take up one or both of these invitations. Gregory Summer Daily Mass Schedule The week of June 2nd we will begin our summer daily Mass schedule: St. Bernard on Monday and Wednesday at 8am and Ascension on Tuesday and Friday at 7:15am. During the summer months The food shelf needs donations even more desperately than during the school year. Summer time means no school lunch or breakfasts for children. Items most needed, peanut butter, meal-in-one, tuna, canned meats, juice, rice, noodles, etc. Please as you are doing your weekly grocery shopping buy and item or two for the food shelf. Your help is most appreciated. Thank you! All current altar servers from both parishes are invited to a Twins game on Tuesday, July 1 st. Church of the Ascension Norwood Young America, MN Weekly Collection Due to the Memorial Day holiday there will be no collection report this week. There will be a combined total collection report next week. We need someone for adoration each Thursday from 3 4 p.m. through at least the summer. If you can fill this hour, please call the coordinator at 952-412-4900. Reminder All Cemetery decorations must be removed by the end of the day, June 1. Any items not removed will be placed at the east end of the cemetery by the large evergreen, and will be disposed of at the discretion of Ascension cemetery if not picked up in a reasonable time. During the grass cutting season fresh cut flowers are allowed (not artificial) if they are not tied with string or wire. Please contact the parish office if you have questions. Be a welcoming and smiling face to all who are gathering for Mass. All parishioners are invited to the ministry of greeters: young people, married couples, singles, individuals, widows and widowers, young, old, ALL OF US. We ask that if you have not already done so, you will consider a donation to the CSA Foundation which can only be used for the designated ministries to the poor and needy. 25% of our parishioner donations are designated to be returned to our parish. Thank you for your generosity. Church of St. Bernard Cologne, MN Summer Day Care is being offered at St. Bernard. The Summer program consists of three elements: Skill, learning, and Recreation. Our staff will work on expanding each child s potential to the fullest. Take the advantage of it for a few days or a few weeks. The sign-up sheet is available in the school office or on the website. Summer Day Care begins on June 2nd and runs through August 22nd. Eucharistic Adoration Wednesday, June 4th, after the 8:00 a.m. Mass until 8:p.m. Please sign up for an hour or half hour at the Scrip table. Among your prayers, please include a prayer for the Holy Spirit's guidance for all our young people and graduates going out into the world. St. Bernard branch of Catholic United Financial will meet on Wednesday, June 4th at 6:30 pm in the St. Ann s room. All Catholic United members are asked to attend.
