Mass for Deceased Bishops, Priests and Deacons of the Diocese of Raleigh Bishop Burbidge will celebrate the annual Mass for the Deceased Bishops, Priests and Deacons of the Diocese of Raleigh on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton Grove at 11:00 am at the altar in the parish cemetery. The faithful are most welcome to attend the Mass, as we pray for those Bishops, Priests and Deacons who so faithfully served the mission of Christ and His Church throughout North Carolina. The Mass will then conclude with the blessing of the graves of the deceased clergy buried in throughout the parish cemetery. In the event of inclement weather, the Mass will be celebrated in the parish church. Immaculate Conception Church Parish Council Meeting Minutes Date of Meeting: August 6, 2014 Members present: Dr. Mary Ann, Donna Leerkes, Rosemary Hunter, Philip Kaleel, Fr. Mark, Sr. Maxine, Sr. Theresine, Maria Sauno, Alejandro Sauno, Jill Roder, Wayne Roder Wayne brought the meeting to order. Fr. Mark opened with a prayer. Minutes were reviewed and motion was carried to approve. Fathers Report: Fr. Mark, Sr. Theresine and Sr. Maxine attended the Solemn Profession of Vows for Sr. Wendolyn at Pittsburgh. Fr. Mark reported that the last yard sale netted $1500 for the parish. The next yard sale will be Sat. 23 Aug 2014. He is proposing a cleaning day at church on Saturday August 30 th. He would like the church cleaned on the inside and out. He would also like to have a parish picnic on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1st. He would like to invite members from the Wallace parish. Our parish would provide the hotdogs and hamburgers and those attending would bring a side dish to share. Fr. Mark reported that the renovations behind the sanctuary are complete to include new toilets being installed in the bathrooms. He also reported that the addition of an extra Mass has had good results. Numbers are more evenly distributed so the church isn t so crowded at any one Mass. He added that the Naming of a pew project has gone well with $20,000 being donated. That, plus the remainder of our loan and proceeds from the Independence Day celebration should have the new pews paid for. Committee Reports: A. Liturgy: No report B. Faith Formation: Sr. Maxine reported they are getting ready for registration and will start this Sunday. They need to get an idea of numbers of children to see how they will utilize the classrooms. They are still planning on having class from 11-12 on Sundays, even with Mass being at 11:30am. September 21 st will be catechetical Sunday with all teachers present. Confirmation next year will be Monday, March 2, 2015 at St, Mary s in Goldsboro. C. Finance: Fr. Mark reported that while offertory donations are down, our overall donations are up. He had Agata check on previous financials. In the 10 years prior the year 2010, the average offertory was $126,622 per year and total donations were $205,295 per year. In the 4 years between 2010-2014, the average offertory is $147,371 per year and the total donations are $274,358 per year. We also donated $5000 more to the BAA than last year. He would like to thank all parishioners for supporting the parish. D. Hispanic: Maria reported they recently had a yard sale and are planning another one on August 23 rd. They are also having food sales after Mass to earn money for church renovations. They are busy planning for the Independence Day celebration which will be Friday, Sept. 12 th at the Agri-center. The tickets are $15 if bought ahead of time and will be $20 at the door. She encouraged everyone to attend. E. KOC: No report F. Women s Group: Donna reported that she and Beth Johnson had a meeting and are trying to come up with ways to improve the Women s Group. They are thinking of changing their meeting time to the 4 th Tues of the month. She wanted to emphasize that this group is open to all the ladies of the church. They are developing different activities and services that the ladies can sign up for. They are still collecting plastic bags to be used in making mats for the homeless. G. Outreach: Sr, Theresine reported they continue to distribute food with the help of Bob Mello and Mac Maxwell to needy families. This past month they delivered food to a migrant camp. Unfinished Business: None New Business: We will plan for our patron saint celebration to be held on Dec. 8, 2014 at the next meeting. Next Meeting Date: 01 Oct. 2014 at 7:30 pm.
