This is the week in which we remember the Last Supper, and Jesus brutal, public execution on a cross...culminating, of course, in the wonder of the empty tomb and his glorious resurrection to new life on Easter Day. But we do more than just remember this story to re-tell it. From Maundy Thursday onwards, we enter into that story. We take part in it through our services, sharing the chance to experience it again with Christians all over the world. It s a story that lasts several days, and so we spread it over several services, but it really is one story. Easter Day makes no sense without Good Friday Jesus cannot rise again to new life without dying first and the story of Good Friday begins on Maundy Thursday evening. So please come and take part in the whole story. Please come and experience it. From the washing of feet, through the stripping of the altars and the watch in the night, to the stark wooden cross and then from the cross to the new light and the joyful celebrations. If you ve never heard the story of Jesus before, then there s no better way to start finding out about it. If you dimly remember it from a long time ago, then come along and make it fresh once more. And if you think you know it already...then there s always something more to discover. For me, keeping the great three days of Holy Week from Maundy Thursday evening to the morning of Easter Day is the most important thing that we can do, because this is our most important story. Without the events of this week, Christianity wouldn t even exist. And as tempting as it might be, I encourage you not to skip ahead to the happy ending on Easter Day. Join in the whole week. Come and take part in all of this one story the greatest and most important story there is. Please: come and share the drama. 8
